They matched the price quote and the Internet Manager exceeded all my expectations." There must be a glut of MDXs sitting on dealers' lots in the Bay Area resulting in huge flooring charges for the dealers if Stevens Creek Acura and Acura of Stockton are letting them go off the lot at $2K under invoice. Either that, or something is going on between the manufacturer and the dealers that the public isn't privy to. I thought I did well six weeks ago when I wrote a check to Acura of Pleasanton for my '06 Touring/Nav for $300 under invoice. Pat yourself on the back. Unless you financed the MDX through the dealer at a relatively high APR over a lengthy period of time, you saved a ton of dough.

boomerang wrote: "Car is great, but can't seem to ever close the tailgate fully on the first try..." May be due to the build-up of the interior air pressure when the tailgate comes down. Open one of the windows or the moonroof an inch or so, then see if the tailgate will latch on the first attempt.

Not knowing what you are paying for tax and license, it's hard to tell whether the deal is good or not. Sounds like it might be. The way to tell would be to determine the price prior to adding T&L. Dealer invoice (including the $615 destination fee) for a Touring with Nav and RES (Rear Entertainment System) is $40,442. If you are within a couple of hundred of that figure before T&L was added, I think you are being offered a decent deal. I bought a new Touring with Nav (no RES) six weeks ago and paid $38,755 before purchasing some add-ons, and before tax and license was added. The fleet manager at my dealership sold me the MDX for $337 under his invoice price of $39,092. After having the dealer install the fender flairs, side running boards, tailgate spoiler and a wood steering wheel, the price became $41,828. With tax and license, my final out-the-door cost was $45,006.81. This was a cash deal. No financing was involved. If you determine that the offer isn't close to the invoice price of $40,442 for a Touring with Nav and RES, I suggest you call another dealer, ask to speak to the Fleet/Internet manager and ask him or her what their best price is on the MDX you are interested in.

You are wise to pay off the loan as soon as possible due to the "Rule of 9's," which means that a larger portion of the total amount of the interest you would pay over the length of the loan is actually paid up front during the first third of the overall length of the loan. That's how banks, credit unions, finance companies and other lenders squeeze every possible nickel out of borrowers who pay off their loans early. Congratulations again on the purchase price. Ya done good!
