"Ok, off to enjoy the new car ... " As I'm sure you will. I've had mine for a couple of months now, and just got back a week ago from a 2K mile drive around the Sierra (death valley, CA49, etc) -- wonderful. You certainly got a better price than I did. I wanted a specific colour combination (red ext/black int) with no nav & a manual. There was only one that could be found in my end of the country. I got the car I wanted and will be driving it for several years. It's all good.

A lot of it has to do with long stretches of highway driving that get the oil temp up all the way. Years ago, when I had a sump-mounted oil temp gauge that I added to my MGB, I learned that it took most of an hour to get the oil temp stabilized, and longer than that when it was really cold out. Also, there was quite a bit of really curvy stuff that kept the speed down in some places yesterday. I hit high speeds occasionally, but certainly not all day. Also, I discovered the car computer appears optimistic. When I compared what the car thought I was getting for a tank of gas yesterday (33.1 mpg) to the actual numbers (12.33 gallons in 380 miles), I got 30.8 mpg, which is still no slouch but ~7% lower. Manual transmission may help too, though the EPA numbers say no. Of course, according to the EPA I shouldn't be getting anything like what I am. Could be the new EPA program assumes more aggressive acceleration or whatever, which I wasn't doing much of either.

I have been following this site for some time and it has been instrumental in getting a good deal without much difficulty. I purchased a 2008 acura mdx base in upstate ny for 38,000. I paid 444 for roof rails and around 140 for all weather mats and an additional 140 for cargo tray. When I showed the dealer the edmunds and cars direct price, we agreed on a price in the middle without a lot of negotiating. Thanks for everyones imput

Yes jmpage2 that is what I'm saying invoice is 42400 and they want to sell it to me for 42600 two hundred over invoice. according to what has been listed in here it seemed like a good deal. Unless edmunds is wrong on the invoice price. Tax is tax 8.1% the title and plate fee out here are based on the price of the car"s invoice so there quite high compared to most states. His doc fee was 225 most out here r 365. So i just needed some feedback because on the east coast it seems deals are better and i haven't read anything from out this way.

It sounds like you are saying that your actual purchase price would be 42,600 for a Tech+Ent? If so that's about $1000 over invoice, which is good but you could do better. In the future provide a complete line item breakdown of what you are being charged. Also, since sales tax varies by area it's best not to quote numbers that include it. It looks like you are saying you are getting the car for $42,600, + 3465.59 for sales tax + 1287.55 which includes title, registration and "documentation fees".

that was 8.1% tax our plate fee is 900.00 42,600 + 3465.59 sales tax + plates and title and doc 1287.55
