Noisy Chrysler Grand Voyager
Written by: catarinus on Jun 23, 2006 2:14:58 PM
I a proud owner of a 2000 Chrysler Gr.Voyager 2.5 turbo-diesel since new. It's popular in Europe diesel versions. The engine is a noisy Italian V.M. unit. I say noisy because I think it is not normal even for a diesel. I know all Turbo-diesel 1996/2000 models make such noise. However 2001 CRD and later models are much more quiet. Is it because of common-rail injection or the noise is due ... Read More

Needless to say, Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge minivans are crap
Written by: good4u on Feb 18, 2006 9:14:41 PM
Our 1997 Plymouth Voyager SE is currently sitting outside a county building in a parking lot. Why? Because it died and wouldn't restart. Thank God our 2000 Hyundai Accent and 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage will get us through the weekend. It started when the tranny blew @ 60K. We're still waiting for the next one to blow. We know someone who has replaced 6 transmissions in their Dodge Caravan! Engine blew @ ... Read More

Written by: vankings on Sep 26, 2005 6:59:25 PM
Chrysler Corporation and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) is well aware of the rusted brake line problem on the Chrysler Minivans. NHTSA is investigating the problem because of the many complaints that they have received. There is a Recall on the Chrysler Minivans in Canada for rusted brake lines which should start in September. You should also check your brake lines all the way back to the rear wheels. ... Read More

We had a brake line burst on our 1999 Dodge Caravan. The brake lines were original equiptment on the vehicle. We had a brake job done with 31K miles and we now have 47K miles on the car. If you check your brake lines you will see that the solid line is made of steel and it is welded to a stainless steel flex segment. The welding of dissimilar metals can ... Read More

Hard Starting
Written by: irvmlk on Jun 16, 2005 7:46:03 AM
I have a Chrysler Voyager minivan 2000. It starts readily when the engine is very cold or very hot. At intermediate temperatures it must be cranked about 5 seconds and there is a smell of gasoline as though it might be flooded. However so far it always starts. I have had the fuel pump replaced, the injector nozzles cleaned and an AIC motor replaced with no improvement. Has anyone any suggestions. ... Read More

There is a lot of info out there but this site frowns on posting links to other sites. Here is just a small sample: There is a Technical Service Bulletin issued by Chrysler on Oct. 14,2002 (TSB 23-044-02) on the problem and it covers all minivans build from 1996 until 2000. If you were lucky enough to see it before your warranty ran out it would have been covered. What Chrysler ... Read More

low frequent vibration

Hi I’m living in Sweden and I’m an owner of a Chrysler Grand Voyager LES, 2000 (3,3 litre v6, automatic) on its 110 kmiles. I’m having problem with vibration in the speed range of 45-55 miles per hour. The vibration is rather heavy, in a low frequent (approximately 5 Hz) and appears only when accelerating. My conclusion is that it comes somewhere from the transmission. Is there anybody out there that ... Read More

Re: Gr. Voyager Brakes, help! [real123]
Written by: autumn on Feb 11, 2005 10:50:26 AM
I have a 2000 Voyager, which did well for about 44,000 miles. Then I had to have the rotors and front brakes replaced. I went 22,000 miles, and needed them again. Then I went only 6000 miles and needed them again. At that point I complained, and they said perhaps the calipers were sticking, and so I paid to have the calipers replaced, as well as the rotors and brakes again. ... Read More

1996 grand voyager
Written by: rjklinge on Jan 26, 2004 11:52:25 AM
Just put 73000 mile on the 96 grand voyager se. It turned 8 years old on 1-20-04. Wouldn't you know it. the engine needs to be rebuilt. I mean I can understand buying new roters every 2 years instead of brake pads, and of course the transmission was relaced in 2000 at 37000 miles but shouldn't a v-6 engine with timely oil changes last more than 73000 miles? 2000 Voyager Brakes
Written by: krissianne on Aug 21, 2003 3:55:04 AM
I have been a very satisfied owner of the 2000 Chrysler Voyager. Bought it brand new, and had no problems...until I hit exactly the 40,000 mark. It was as if a time bomb happened. After coming home from a short trip, I noticed a grinding, metal-to-metal sound in the front when I applied the brakes, which over the course of less than a mile became unbearably loud. Took it to the ... Read More

46k problems
Written by: braintea on Jun 20, 2003 4:22:20 PM
My 2000 Voyager has been a most pleasant family vehicle. Even with the slightly underpowered 3.0 liter engine, the performance and amenities have given us a fine car for daily use, and a few sizeable road trips. We operate the car with respect, are never hard on it, and give it regular maintenance. Suddenly, the "outer joint" has broken, requiring a replaced left axle. Also, after the tow-in, it was determined ... Read More

Speaking of resale, again
Written by: hersbird on Jun 6, 2002 4:43:00 PM
So how much does aftermarket leather add to an 01 Odyssey's resale? Nothing, it isn't in any major pricing book, and so a dealer will never give you credit for it. On an 01 Dodge van leather adds between $627-$827 to resale, and costs between $783 and $1250 to add to a new van. That's a little better then $1600 to install and get no credit for later. My '91 Grand Voyager Fuel Rail Leaked

This isn't a new problem that started with the '96 model year. The leak on my '91 Grand Voyager fuel rail was EXACTLY as shown in the illustration in the article. At the time (Feb of 99), Chrysler had already recalled the LH cars for this problem, so I called them about getting mine fixed on their dime. I had 87K miles on it. They flatly refused. Get your facts right

Honda did not produce minivans before the 99 model year. They were rebadging the Isuzu van as they have been doing with the Isuzu Rodeo (Honda Passport). So in fact it is a brand new vehicle in a brand new factory so if they had some quality glitches in the first model year it is certainly expected and understandable. I recall reading about dozens of recalls from Chrysler minivans when they ... Read More

I have a Chrysler Town & Country Limited, and while it's nice that they sell well even though they have $2000-$3500 rebates, it's not going to be a deal breaker for me regarding how many more units they have sold compared to Honda, Ford, etc. Carelton, you used to have a Chevy Astro. How much did the Overhead Console Trip Computer/Compass/Temperature module cost in the 1999 DC minivans?
Written by: carleton1 on Apr 24, 2001 5:17:51 PM
With a million units installed, the cost per unit was probably VERY small in 1999. The start up costs had been absorbed so why did DC take if off the 2000 GC SE? Eliminating nice features is one way to alienate DC owners like myself. Why did DC put the cheap rub strip on the 2001 GC Sport that is similar to the one of the bottom of the line base ... Read More
