Chrylser not ok
Vehicle
1999 Chrysler Town and Country 2 Dr LXi Passenger Van Extended
Review
We seem to have hit old age with this vehicle. We've had nothing but problems all this year with it as one thing after another break, burns up or stops working. Electrical is on the fritz, brakes continually causing problems, speakers popping on and off, etc, etc. I used to recommend this vehicle to friends but not anymore! I wish we had waited and bought a Honda or Toyota - at least we would have had a better chance of trade in or selling one of those!

What could happen next!
Vehicle
1999 Chrysler Town and Country 2 Dr Limited 4WD Passenger Van Extended
Review
I was very impressed the first time I saw it, driving it was even better with the heated seats and the dual control heat/air. I purchased the vehicle and loved it, until I got stranded. The key wouldn't move, only a week later after I purchased it. Had to get it towed. Come to find out that there is a bulletin on the ignition column that happens this happens a lot with this particular vehicle and there are no after market parts, and expensive to replace. Mileage isn't that good either compared to my 1994 Plymouth Voyager that I have had for one year before this. I'm not too crazy about the bucket seats in the middle. They are very hard to adjust to lower the back to recline.
Favorite Features
My favorite is the heated seats and the AWD. I felt really secure in a very bad snow storm, didn't even feel how bad the roads were and it got me safe to my destination without being at the edge of my seat.
Suggested Improvements
I would suggest that they do a recall on the ignition column if there are so many of these that have to be replaced. And for more luxury the middle seats would be good to have heated also.

I have been driving a chrysler built minivan since 1994 (including dodge and a plymouth) while they all share the same platform the town and country limited is by far the best built and most comfortable van I have had. I have been in 34 states in my vacationing travels in the past 10 years have never been broke down or had any issues, all but 2 of my 6 vans have had over 100,000 miles on them, we currently have 5 of them in my immediate family (mom, sisters and brother in law) Also, I am a certified master mechanic with 15 years at a chrysler dealer, now independent shop owner 3 years.
Favorite Features
the 10 speaker infinity stereo, heated seats and ease of seat removal for added cargo space (for the 100 pound pooch)

So Far So Good
Vehicle
1999 Chrysler Town and Country 2 Dr LXi 4WD Passenger Van Extended
Review
We have owned a '99 T&C LXi AWD for four years. For around town it is easy to drive and the Infinity stereo is a treat. On road trips around the West the interior space is great especially taking out the mid-Capt chairs and putting the boys in back. With the leather Capt chairs in, the T&C is a nice transport for two couples with a night w/out the kids.
Favorite Features
Heated leather seats, stereo (Infinity) and easy driving.
Suggested Improvements
Engine noice. We know that the transmissions don't last (we owned a 1997)- it would be nice if they aged better.

Excellent w/ Extended Warranty Coverage
Vehicle
1999 Chrysler Town and Country 2 Dr Limited Passenger Van Extended
Review
It's great, but it requires lots of maintenance and repair. It's our second Chrylser minivan. The first was a 1996, which had a tremendous amount of faults with mechanics and electronics (though in it's defense, it was a first model year). Going into this purchase, we opted for the extended warranty. First the good: it's a supremely functional, easy & fun to drive van with excellent power and handling. Very comfortable. The Limited version is well equipped with luxurious options. Down side. We bought the extended warranty for $1800. Chrysler has performed $5000+ in repairs over the 4 years/70,000 miles that we've owned it: suspen., trans., elect., a/c, trim, belts- some more than once!
Favorite Features
Seating: Heated, Leather, Quad Format and Removable, Pleasure to Drive; Dual sliding doors; mileage is 18-25 mpg (just like the sticker said); functionality; style; acceleration & handling; 3.8L engine is smooth and powerful
Suggested Improvements
Mechanical Reliability of this minivan is severly lacking. Memory seats & mirrors don't hold positioning- ditch the concept. Speed sensor failed twice-killing speedo and locking trans in 2nd gear. Self-leveling rear struts also failed twice. Heated seat element failed and then was recalled!

what a joke

The headlight lenses are so foggy its like having flashlights taped to the fenders. I've noticed many, many Chrysler products in this area with the same problem. It has been recalled four times, but no recall was for headlights.
Favorite Features
Suggested Improvements
Make the headlights out of glass, not plastic.

This van was given to me as a gift from my mother...Who bought it from my aunt, a loyal Town and Country owner. It now has 61,000 miles on it, and the only problem I have had is two recalls which were both fixed by the dealer within 4 hours, and at no charge, and an AC hose leak. But considering it's age, it is an excellent car! I am in college, and the space and versatility are perfect. Although the engine isn't the strongest, it is exceptionally smooth and provides enough power when I need it. And the space is an assurance for safety...My mom didn't want me in an SUV just yet, and the T&C's size made it perfect. I fit my entire dorm inventory in it!
Favorite Features
Space, luxury amenities, smooth engine.
Suggested Improvements
More power, please! Minor reliability issues, and build quality.
