Re: 2008 Chrysler Town & Country oil consumption [xwesx]
Written by: andridge on Jul 6, 2009 7:56:19 AM
I have a 2006 Chrysler T&C and since last December have been adding about 1 quart every 4,000 miles. My dealership said this is normal and did not see any evidence of oil leaks or blue smoke from oil burning in the engine. For now, I check the oil every month and keep a couple quarts in the garage.
It seemed like prices in Southern California were much higher than the Midwest or East until this last weekend. Three weeks ago "liquidation prices" at a nearby dealership that was closing were $29,990 for a 2008 Limited. Our local dealership (not going out of business) listed all 2008 Town and Country minivans (Touring and Limited) for $28880 on Memorial Day weekend. I almost bought one but there are no lease options ... Read More

Consumption of up to a quart per thousand miles would not produce any noticeable side effects, so it sounds like (for now), you should simply check your oil on a reasonable basis - once every couple of tanks or so. Waiting to check at each oil change interval is just asking for trouble. It may be that consumption did not suddenly increase, but did get to the point that the pressure ... Read More
For all I know these unbelievable deals could possibly be a regional thing; maybe there's little to no sales of GC, or T&C in certain parts of the country - hence the great deals. Here in southeastern Wisconsin I see a good number of 2008/2009 GC, or T&C on the road...That said there are a few dealers in my area with 20, or more mini-vans on their lot that I know ... Read More
Hi all - I've got a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country Touring with about 53,000 mi. on it. Last week the oil light started coming on - nearly at 3months/3000 miles on the nose. 2008 Town & Country Van - Brakes worn out at 16K

In June 2008, I purchased a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. I and my 2 young children often take driving vacations, and as a result, my van turned over 16,000 miles this month. Let me say first that I have been very happy with the van thus far, and am still pleased with it overall. But I think this brake issue is something that Chrysler needs to address immediately. Two ... Look, I also had a 2005 Grand Caravan, which was definitely better than my 2008 Town & Country. Not in terms of features, but handling, and some other minor things, was a bit better. IMO Chrysler took a step backwards with the new design. Also, entry/exit is more difficult due to being much taller for some reason. What I meant to say, that I never expected the Kia to feel so ... I was wondering if we were the only one with a problem like this, but I see we aren't. Our 2008 Town and Country is HORRIBLE! We too, have only 22,000 miles on it and when we had our oil changed, we too had our brakes checked because of noise. At first we were told it was probably just dust on the pads because it only had 22,000 miles on it. ... Read More
