Re: 2002 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY BRAKE HELP [tomaydin]
Written by: 97xpresso on Feb 1, 2007 2:50:32 PM
I posted this last year and now have over 60,000 miles on my Caravan, 36,000 since front pads were changed, still over half thickness left on them: 4th generation Caravans are very heavy vehicles, and tend to roll forever when you ease off the gas pedal (unless climbing a grade) I purchased my Caravan with 24,000 miles, and had to replace the front pads immediately, because they were worn to the ... I have a 2004 Chrsyler town and country with the same brake pad problem. I had to replace the brake pads at 13,000 Miles. I have 25,000 miles on it now and I'm due for another replacement of brake pads. I thought I had a lemon since this problem was unusual but I guess it's not so unusual in Town & Country. I'll never by any Chrysler product again..

Our daughter was happy to buy our very nice 1999 GC SE
Written by: chryslervan1 on Jul 18, 2002 8:09:09 PM
We were completely satisfied with our loaded 99 GC SE and did not plan to sell or trade for many years. However, our daughter and son in law needed a 2nd vehicle since their 7 year old son was in school and the 4 year old daughter in pre-school. They looked at many vehicles and decided to get a new 2002 Neon. We went on a test drive and felt cramped ... Read More

My 1997 Town/Country just got out of the dealer after 3 day repair of electrical problems. I am now on my fifth circuit board for the dashboard. They cannot find any short. I find it hard to believe four boards will fail. Fortunately, these started while under warranty, and Chrysler has cut me a break charging me just labor for some, 50.00 dollars only for others and 0 dollars for the ... Read More

Third row seat
Written by: lmo454 on Jul 15, 2002 10:06:02 AM
Let's face it. One of the most important tasks of a minivan is to haul people. I like the idea of Honda's third row magic seat, but only wish that Honda had implemented a split folding rear seat. I have a fourth child on the way and need the extra utility of being able to fold down half of the third row. Folding down all of third row or taking out ... Read More

Town & Country
Written by: 4aodge on Jun 28, 2002 3:28:24 PM
I have never heard of any 2002 DC minivan having all the problems you have had with your 1997 Town & Country LX. That does't mean its impossible, but Chrysler reliabilty has improved significantly since you purchased your 1997 model van. To see what I mean, just sit inside a new Town & Country and experience the difference in quality yourself. The dash is well assembled, the doors slam with authority, ... Read More

I have a 97 Town and Country LX. When all runs and works well it is a very nice vehicle. However, I have had many repairs over the 5 years including 3 (yes three) new circuit boards that control the dashboard guages, rack and pinion steering, parking brake pedal, stereo, wiper motor, wiper switch, fuel guage sender ($500.00), interior lights. Im likely to purchase a 2003 Oddyssey over a 2002 Town ... Read More

Ok, let's back up a bit here. Alot of what I said about not liking how Honda Vtec engines have to rev to ridiculous RPMs just to get peak power comes from my personal preference. I don't like having to rev to 3.5k+ RPMs just to keep up with traffic, which I don't have to do with our pushrod 3.3 V6. I'm sorry that I did not take into account in ... Read More

hersbird, I totally agree that both vans are great in their own respects. And I too first engaged in these discussions after seeing how many Honda Odyssey owners here trashed DC vans and made them seem like worthless pieces of garbage But I also realize the Honda Odyssey is far from perfect in the areas of reliability (for a Honda), comfort, and convienence at least when compared to the competition, namely ... bdaddy, if you want real driving impressions go look at the 2001 Edmunds minivan comparison. Chrysler won just about every category involving performance, ride, and drive. As Edmunds put it best when they said the Chrysler is "a driver's minivan." As I've said before, the T&C beat the Odyssey in engine performance. Edmunds found the Chrysler also delivered superior braking performance than the Odyssey stopping from 60-0 8 feet shorter. That ... Read More

Oh give me a break! Chrysler won't invest in updating their engines and transmissions? What are you talking about? They already have! It's no secret and it certainly isn't a corporate lie. Pick up a business magazine or go read the automotive editorials and reports at Detroit News.com. Chrysler has started and improved numerous programs designed to improve quality across the board on all their vehicles and the results are showing. ... Read More

As long as dmathews continues to make smart comments and remarks about DC minivans, I'll feel free to do the same about the Honda. The padded armrests, while useless to some, are very symbolic of Chryslers minivans versus those of Honda. Chrysler vans are more comfortable, offer more convienent features, and look much better than the Honda. The fact that even the basic Chrysler van has padded armrests says something about ... dmathews, I have never used the fact that DC sells more minivans than ANYONE else as a reason to say they are better than the competition. Saying that I have would be putting words in my mouth, which I don't appreciate. However, I have suggested that the reason why DC sells so many minivans is because MORE PEOPLE prefer DC minivans over others such as the Odyssey, for whatever reasons. Just ... Read More

"The 240 HP, 242 ft-lb engine alone puts the Odyssey into a different class. The 3.3L 180 HP, 210 ft-lb V6 on the GC eL seems more in league with Windstar or the GM minivans." I'm not so sure about that, caviller. Carelton has driven more of these minivans with different powertrains than just about anyone here on this board. He has driven two Odyssey's with both the 210hp and 240hp ... Read More
