Review of the 2002 Chrysler Town and Country

  • Pleasant to drive and ride in, but lacking a few key features and the rock-solid reliability of certain rivals.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Limousine-like comfort (in Limited models), DVD-video option, refined drivetrain, impressive handling performance.

  • Cons

No fold-flat third-row seat, unimpressive reliability history, potentially pricey.

  • What's New for 2002

Chrysler makes this already opulent minivan more luxurious with the availability of power-adjustable pedals, rear-seat audio with wireless headsets and a DVD video system for the rear seat that also includes wireless headsets. Would buy another

Vehicle: 2002 Chrysler Town and Country eL Fwd 4dr Minivan (3.3L 6cyl 4A)

Reliable. Some minor problems with air conditioning, steering column locked, fuel injector system after 60,000. Very roomy, comfortable. Had extended contract which has paid off.

T&C was a good car for us. Very comfortable, ride was very smooth. A few recall issues that were fixed, but other than that it was very reliable. Unfortunately my son totaled it but he came out of a serious accident without a scratch.

3 row seating

The hide away 3 row would be a plus!! I didn't think I would need it, I was wrong. I would be so healpful for large items or just extra room

The van is very comfortable, quiet and roomy; a pleasure to drive on the highway. Controls and indicators are well-placed and intuitive. The biggest negative is visibility to rear sides: not as good as the boxier '94 model I had.
