I leased this 1999 FWD LX with the
upgraded 3.8 L engine, upgraded sound
system, dual A/C & Heating, upgraded
tires, etc. and after my 3 years were
up this past February, I was so
impressed that I purchased it at the
end of the lease. Except for recently
replacing the tires after 50,000 miles,
I have not had this van in the shop
once except for routine oil
changes/tire rotations. I could not
imagine a more smooth and roomy ride in
a van. I was considering the Honda
Odyssey back then but I am so thrilled
that I made the decision for the T&C.

My first Chrysler and my first mini-
van. Delighted with everything about
this vehicle. Good fuel economy
(26mpg at 75mph), great highway ride,
plenty of room (great cargo space with
seats out) and virtually no mechanical
problems. After 40,000 miles the only
problem that I have had was noise in
the transmission that the dealer fixed
in one day.

Just bought a 99 AWD LXI on a lease
return. Only had 27K miles when we
bought it. The transmission has failed
at 30K! and its out of warranty.
$2500 hit to the pocket book. Other
goofy things with the electrical. The
transmission guys say they don't build
these things beefy enough for the AWD
design.
Shame on Chrysler for saving a few
bucks in design and manufacturing!

Excellent used van purchase. The interior is well designed and comfortable.
The ride is outstanding and the vehicle has a reliable history. Would
recommend this vehicle to any consumer looking for a good deal on a used
van.

So far, 60,000 miles with no
repairs/problems except for recommended
service. Replaced factory tires at
58,000 miles. Driven across country 5
times without any trouble. Great
family hauler (3 gradeschool age kids).
Used to occasionally tow a 3,000 pound
ski boat (has towing package). We live
in northern Minnesota and have been
satisified with the snow traction. Plan
on buying a new T&C in 3 to 4 years.

We bought our 1999 T&C used with 40k miles on it in in Feb. 2000. We now have over 68k miles on it and have not had a problem yet. The only complaint would be the fuel economy, we are lucky to get 18mpg on the freeway and 15mpg around town. The AWD and traction control are nice in the snow, it will easily out do my 4x4 Chevy truck in anything except deep snow.

We purchased A 1999 Chrysler T&C LXI AWD in April of 1999 and have had extensive problems from day 1. Time and frustration have proven that Chrysler was the wrong product for us.
PROBLEMS:
-Heating coils came through front seats
-Paint peeled (Van repainted)
-Transmission failed at 40,000 miles
-Rear power window motor failed
-Water in right front head light
-Windshield wiper came undone and failed
All this for a $36,000 vehicle!! IN the first 45,000 miles of use!

This van rides very nice. Nicer than the Honda and Dodge. The heated leather seats really make this a very nice van. It has good power for pulling out of side streets. Like all the vans we drove, one really needs to apply the brakes hard to get the van to slow down quickly. The only thing we do not like is that it does not have an automatic temperature control.
