    I have a 1996 Chrysler T&C LXi and it is doing the exact same thing. At first it was barely noticeable...now...the winding noise is getting louder. I hope someone can provide some insight.

    I have a 1996 town & country. I replaced the starter, cam and crank sensor, fuel pump and both Pcm's and it still will not start, and also replaced the coil pack. Any other suggestions.

    While driving the van in D position the transmission is very erratic it almost feels like the engine missing very bad, after a few seconds the transmission will shift into 2nd gear and stay there.     OK so far both vehicles going good. I seem to recall this was the identical situation last year. After a while when the original battery is used the problem would go away. When I do so I would update again.

    I've had the same problem with my '99 t&C LXi. I thought there was something that was draining my battery over a period of time. Turns out it was a defective starter. Had it replaced and solved the problem.

    The problem is that my van would start one day and it would be fine for a couple days to a week, then out of no where, the van doesnt start anymore until next day, the mileage light on the dashboard doesnt turn on resulting that the car doest start

A rodent had chewed through mine (1997 T&C), resulting in continuous successful engine cranking without ignition, because the engine was not getting fuel. Repair of the wiring took care of it.     The Gates company has a fix kit for the belt problem on Chrysler 3.3L & 3.8L engines. Cost is about $140. I had the fix kit installed on my 1998 Chrysler Town and Country and I've had no problems yet. Prior to this fix, any puddle I drove through would cause the belt to slip off.

    I own a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country Lxi with 100,000 miles. I have had SEVEN batteries in NINE years. Every time befpre I get stranded, there is no warning. The mechanics check the charging system, etc. and cannot find a problem. Four of the batteries were dealer replacements. The last two were 5-year batteries that lasted no longer than the others. POS.

    It's a toss up. I myself have owned three Chrysler vans and the 2001 is far better built than the 1996.
