Vehicle: 1996 Chrysler Town and Country LX 3dr Minivan

Water pump went out at 36K and half way home from family vacation, sliding door locks broke, sliding door catches broke (if you are on an incline it will break your leg...you don't want to bend over and lean in..take your head off, front power windows broke, WIPER blades have a mind of their own..come on anytime. Chews up the tires..never get normal wear even with alignments. Power steering problems. Transmission hasn't gone yet but we're prety sure it will. Will not buy another Chrysler

We own a small carlot and despite Chrysler's tranny problems, etc. they are definately a best seller. People have driven hundreds of miles to buy Chrysler or Dodge minivans from us (we're not new car dealers, etiher). The engines are excellent, we've never had any problems with them. In the past, we just bought and sold Dodge or Plymouth, the other day we picked up a Chrysler Town and Country. I am very impressed with it. If we ever buy a car to keep for ourselves, it definately will be a Chrysler Town and Country!!!

Loving it

Seats a bit short and legroom tight for tall people. PLenty of headroom, though. 3.8l V6 hauls but still is not too bad on gas. Still sounds and feels like brand new (except for a crinkling noise from the dash). See www.allpar.com for info about possible transmission problems and how to avoid them.

Watch out

I thought the chrysler would get better after all these years. NOT....the radio broke, the power steering pump leaked and needed to get replaced, the AC condenser leaked, one of the sliding door locks broke and needed to get replaced. the wipers go on at all times and I saved the best for last. the right side tie rod broke off twice in two years while my wife was driving it. Van only has 67,000 miles on it. NO GOOD!!! do yourself a favor, do not buy one
