I have a 2005 Chrysler Sebring convertible and recently I have started to smell a burning smell from the front drivers side, coming from under the hood. A couple of times (especially when it has been raining) I have seen steam coming from under the hood. The hood on that side of the car is very hot to the touch. None of the gauges are reading hot and there are no ... Read More
Your site was EXTREMELY helpful. I'm a new Sebring owner 2005 and loved the car til I drove it through two hours of rain and found the passenger floorboard soaked. Took it to Chrysler explained my problem and all the tech did was check to make sure it wasn't the air conditioner. I read all the advice on line about cleaning drain slits but had no idea where they were located. ... Read More
GOOD NEWS: even though the car was no longer covered by any warranty, Chrysler paid part of the cost of the window replacement as an act of goodwill. Thanks Chrysler!
Hi, My sister's 2005 Chrysler Convertible Sebring window broke last night when I was in the driver's seat, soon after I hit the little electronic switch, probably because just prior to hitting it, one of the sides of the roof was not unlatched all the way. When I noticed it was not, I stopped the process, yet before anyone knew what was happening, SPLASH - glass rained onto my sister in ... Read More
Start with opening the door and on the underside pull the rubber seal away from the door. It could be stuck there are drain holes all along the door so be sure to clean all the gunk off the back of the rubber seal or it will stick to the door frame again. (the rubber seal is held on by little pop pin about every 6 inches under the door so ... Read More
I am reading with great interest about the chrysler water leaks in the Sebring Conv. I had recently purchased a 2005 Sebring conv. and I too have a water problem. when it rains hard, the passanger side door fills with water. when someone opens the door after or even during a hard rain, the water comes gushing out all over their feet. I mean a lot of water. I was told ... Read More
I have a 2005 chrysler sebring that I bought used. It has 87000 miles on it and everything was fine up until today. I went out and started the car to warm it up. The car was running fine and then it started idling rough and died. I tried starting the car back up, but all it did was crank. The engine is the 2.4L 4cylinder DOHC. I have replaced all ... Yes, I had this problem also. I have a 2005 Sebring touring convert. The airbag light was coming on occasionally. Then the horn would come on at random times. The car could be parked or running. If I hit the steering wheel at the center hard enough it would stop sometimes. I took it to the dealer and paid almost $800.00 to fix the horn pad/airbag attachment. It was the ONLY ... Read More
My 2005 Sebring did the exact same thing tonight. I'm not sure if it's the Crankshaft Position Sensor or something else. How easy or difficult is it to replace that sensor? Has anyone actually fixed the problem themselves?
My daughter has a 05 Chrysler Sebring with about 110K miles. The timing belt broke while driving down the highway, so it died. Took to mechanic and he said it was the timing belt that had broken. Had it replaced about 2 month ago. Now it has started with a humming noise at about 2500 Rpm. What is the best way to isolate the problem. As anyone familiar with the 2.4 ... Read More
Try an after market parts supplier (e.g. Canadian Tire) or an auto salvage yard for a used part. Good luck.
I have a 2005 Chrysler Sebring convertible, 6 cylinder with 100,000 miles on it and recently the engine light came on and the code is p0302 which i was told was the 1/1 oxygen sensor, so i changed the sensor and the spark plugs and cleared the code but the enging light came back on and stays on, what can i do?
I understand that the 2005 versions of 40TE transmissions have only 2 clutch packs while 41TE has four. To me this is a major difference, as it is directly translates to lower torque capacity (from what I understand about transmissions). Now, the question is, both are categorised as A604 trannies; are those interchangeable? I mean I am trying to find out if a 2005 2.4L AT 40TE transmission would fit a ... Read More
I'm with you. I owned a 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible V-6 engine. Engine siezed at 91,000 miles in 2005. Chrysler told me it was my problem. Never got a diagnosis because they said it would cost more to take it apart than replace it. Currenly own a Toyota Solara.
I was the original owner of a 2001 Sebring Convertible. Changed oil regularly according to specs. In 2005 engine seized with 90,000 miles. Chrysler gave me nothing other than scrap value. Will never buy another Chrysler product.
I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring with 45K miles on it. The transmission was replaced at 44K miles but it is still sluggish like this transmission is about to go out with less than 2500 miles on it. I have brought in this car 4 times for over 4 weeks with the same problem and each time I have to rent a car until they fix it. I havent had my ... Read More
Hello KarenS. I recently purchased a used 2006 Chrysler Sebring Touring Sedan, 27K miles. I did plenty of endless online research to narrow down my future choice of automobile, and was pleased with the reliability ratings given to the 2005 model. I hope this holds true to the 2006 models. I however choked when buying the actual car. I did all this research, but was so excited with the price that ... Read More

Hello, This is my very first post. I'm going to be buying a car in a about a month or two. I'm torn between the Sebring and Toyota Solara convertible. I've always been a BIG believer in Toyota and Honda. Their cars last forever. My boyfriend is a mechanic and he says that the Toyota is the better car. But for what I would pay for a 2002 Toyota Solara Convertible, ... Read More
I BOUGHT A 2005 CHRYSLER SEBRING A COUPLES MONTHS AGO AND SINCE IT HAS BEEN RAINING IT HAS BEEN GETTING WET INSIDE. EVEN WHEN I'M DRIVING AND ITS RAINING IT COMES INSIDE. ITS COMING FROM THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE RIGHT ON TOP BETWEEN THE SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND ROOF TOP. IT GETTING FRUSTRATED!!!!!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS.
I've had the same intermittent problem with my 2003 Sebring Limited convertible. Early 2005, dealer replaced the multi-function switch on the steering column. This fixed the problem. However, just last night the instrument cluster went dark again. This morning it was lit up fine. Looks like it's time to see the dealer again for another muti-function switch replacement. Looks like Daimler Chrysler switch is designed for short life.
Hey Kathy you might try using 303 Aerospace vinyl convertible top kit.I saw a write up on it online while googling 303 Aerospace vinyl cleaner.Seems the huge RV industry rave its ability to clean/protect your vinyl, leather, rubber etc.I went to Yahoo.com shopping and entered 303 Aerospace vinyl convertible top kit and found many stores online selling it from 19.99 to 29.99.Bought it and tried it on my 2005 Chrysler Sebring Touring(26k ... Thanks a lot for the info. I've read over the forums on the Sebring and you are right. The reliability record is still pretty bad. Chrysler is famous (like Toyota) for blaming the customer for what was a manufacturing defect. Either that or they come back with the "can't find problem" or "that's normal". I think frankly I'll keep what I have until I can afford one of the 2005/6 Mustang ... Read More

There IS a real safety issue, and your dealer is either a liar or he doesn't read the safety updates from Chrysler. You have a defective G3 seatbelt. Please go to www.unsafebelts.com to learn about it. Then call the dealership and bawl them out.
Sorry to hear about all the problems with the Sebring. I myself have been experiencing problems since I purchased mine. I bought a used 2002 Sebring LX with only 21,000 miles the end of January 2005. I also purchased the extended Ultra Warranty with only a $50 deductible (and is supposed to cover everything except 3 items....tires, brakes, and windows). About 2-months after purchase I was in downtown Atlanta and mine ... Read More
I requested repair of my 2005 Sebring Convertible under GA Motor Vehicle Warranty Rights Act and Chrysler sent a representative to repair the vehicle. Does anyone know anything about this?
I purchased a 2005 Sebring Convertible Touring Signature Series on December 28, 2004. I have taken it back twice because the seat belt light intermittently comes on while I am driving and fastened in. The dealership has been unable to replicate the problem, so they have not attempted a repair. The dealership is also unable detect any electrical irregularities from the computer. Chrysler suggested that it might be a sensor. I ... Read More
