Summary
What Edmunds.com says
The Sebring family offers good value without sacrificing style or performance. They're worth a look if you're tired of the status quo.
Pros
Spacious interiors, solid performance, long list of standard features.
Cons
Lacks refinement, build quality and resale value not comparable to class leaders.
What's New for 2004
The Sebring's former trim designations have been replaced with base, Touring and Limited while GTC trim carries over unchanged. Sedan and convertible models receive a restyled front fascia and new wheels, while the coupe gets new dash, door and instrument panel trim. Low-speed traction control now comes on all models equipped with antilock brakes.
Consumer Ratings & Reviews
Great car for me. Bad car for others.

2004 Chrysler Sebring 2dr Convertible (2.4L 4cyl 4A)
Review
The reviews on this car are terrible. I hope my luck holds out. I love my car. I bought it used. Its build date is 3/2003 as a fleet car. For 4 years, I've driven it and the only problem had to do with transmission & solenoid which dealer found. Cost less than $450 total to fix. I love my car. It is a lot of fun. I will trade it for another in a few years. Looking forward to the hard top convertible.
Favorite Features
Rear leg room is greater than most convertibles.
Suggested Improvements
This is a basic car with plain, inexpensive interior parts that work well, but could be a little fancier. I believe that Chrysler has improved this on its newer models.

I love this car-as long as everything is functioning properly (which isn't very often). The solenoid goes out every year, usually January or February. The sensors have minds of their own-my engine light is on more than it is off. I had to have a tranny overhaul this past February, as well as the solenoid replaced. Fuel economy is terrible, I don't give a damn what the specs say. The tranny pan gasket has been replaced twice. When the weather is cool/cold, there is a strange scraping noise coming from the rear axle. The seals on the headlight assemblies dry-rotted last year. Needs better sound barriers; very noisy when driving. Nevertheless, I have no complaints about performance or handling.
Favorite Features
Engine/transmission performance (very little shift-shock), exterior features, interior design (very roomy), safety features
Suggested Improvements
Better transmission, better fuel economy, reliable sensors, reduce engine noise, and better seals- especially door) would be a great start. (A HEMI wouldn't hurt either, especially since Georgia State Patrol has Chargers w/ HEMIs). I think that would be interesting.
Beware the 2.7 L V6

I have had this car about 6 months. No problems until a few weeks ago with the oil light coming on. Was told it was a bad oil pressure sensor. My extended warranty that supposedly covered everything didn't cover it. It was replaced, 10 minutes after leaving the dealer it came on again. Was told it may be a bad oil pump, though the Nissan dealer i bought it from took it to a Chrysler dealer and all they did was replace it again and do an oil flush and change the oil ,free of charge. Took it home, found the Fog Lights stopped working. What next? It's too bad the under the hood issues take away from a great looking car. Cruises nice and gets good mileage with the V6.
Favorite Features
Styling, Top Down Fun, nice handling car
Suggested Improvements
Stay away from the 2.7L V6. Dark Blue color of mine scratches easy. A top boot would be nice, not an extra.
The Engine is Dead

Review
After several problems with this vehicle, I am giving up. The fuses tend to blow - windshield wiper fluid, windows, etc. and are "specialty" fuses that you can't replace. The transmission started sticking and now, the engine is dead - busted a rod out of the blue. Spoke to three mechanics - when I told them it was a Sebring, they all said, "Yeah, they tend to do that."

Great car except for the Chrysler engine and transmission. if you want a nice car to look at, it's perfect; if you want a reliable car that won't cost you a lot after purchase for repairs don't even think about this car.
