Just letting you know the starters in these cars are covered with a skid plate on the bottom of the engine and you have to take a motor mount off. lol...     I own a Chrysler Sebring 2001 2.7 and everytime I warm it up especially in the mornings the passenger compartment fills with the stench of gasoline fumes. I realize that the heater draws the airflow from where the engine sits. But,me and my mechanic freinds can't detect any leaks,but I do smell gasoline near the lines. Anyone have that problem?     To reset your check engine light disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable. Leave it off for about 5 to 10 minutes then reconnect the cable. It may take a couple of trys for the car to start and it may run a little rough for a minute or two while the computer resets but your light will be off.

    If you mean the windshield gasket, that's pretty easy---just try some LATEX black caulk. It washes off with water (before it sets) and you can apply it neatly with your wet finger. If you mean the "squeegee" gasket on the side windows--that could be trickier. Generally they slide off and shouldn't cost very much to replace.

    Interesting....real time troubleshooting assistance. My neighbors 2001 Chrysler Sebring just did the same thing. After checking a few things I came in an searched "starting" on this thread. Replaced the blown 20 amp starter/fuel pump fuse in teh engine compartment and the car started right up. I assume the fuel pump was the cause and may be on its last legs.

    I had a Certified mechanic check it out they said something in the transmission had broke inside the transmission and from what I understand it caused internal (and unrepairable) damage. I have only 95,000 miles on the car. They told me it was going to cost anywhere from 1800$ - $5000

    I'm with you. I owned a 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible V-6 engine. Engine siezed at 91,000 miles in 2005. Chrysler told me it was my problem. Never got a diagnosis because they said it would cost more to take it apart than replace it. Currenly own a Toyota Solara.

    I was the original owner of a 2001 Sebring Convertible. Changed oil regularly according to specs. In 2005 engine seized with 90,000 miles. Chrysler gave me nothing other than scrap value. Will never buy another Chrysler product.

    Please keep me informed I am curious what the problem is...does your LX have the 3.0 v6 in it or is it the 2.4 four cylinder? Most of the issues on here seem to be from the actual Chrysler engines and trans that are in the sedans and convertibles. My mechanic speaks highly of the Mitsubishi products, considering that is all the coupes are.

    jcach, the wind screen most definitely stops the wind. Its the best accessory I bought for my 2002 Chrysler Sebring GTC. However I bargained with the dealer and got the screen for $150.00 (I don't think these screens are big sellers). Go get one and be careful installing.
