Love my Car
Vehicle
1998 Chrysler Sebring 2 Dr LX Coupe
Review
I bought this car 8 years ago, it was the style that attracted me. I liked the sporty look of the front cowl. I love the way it handles, the performance, the comfort. I have taken very good care of it and it has been a great car.
Favorite Features
The style, I haven't bought a new car because I haven't seen anything else that interests me.
Suggested Improvements
Ground clearance, gotta watch those curbs, sidewalks, parking bumpers and steep driveways, it will scrape.

okay for cheap coupe

Yeah those cheap chrysler rims and the brakes I fixed but it does look good! I had to tape together the bottom of the front bumper from curb and road rash, to low! Nice exhaust sound to bad it doesnt translate into horsepower although it goes if you keep your foot in it. The one thing not mentioned is this cars higher insurance rating, still I'll keep it for awhile its kinda fun. Watch out for those curbs and potholes or you'll be looking for new rims!

Just OK...
Vehicle
1998 Chrysler Sebring 2 Dr LXi Coupe
Review
I have been happy with this car mechanically....but....too low in front, bad turning radius, rattles in glovebox and sunroof, exterior cladding fell off, stiff ride(but enjoyable). I have owned it since new. I would not buy another one. It has been an OK car and decently good looking. The cab forward design was interesting for looks but practical it is not. The newer models don't look as good, and the redesign doesn't even look promising. I won't recommend this car used unless you plan on adding a lot of aftermarket styling and equipment...should be cheap. It isn't even worth what edmunds or bluebook says it is worth.
Favorite Features
Looks and equipment load out.
Suggested Improvements
Where to start....they did the basics on the newer models but style went to pot. Stay away, Chrysler doesn't do enough to actually call them improvements.

This is a good car.

I bought this car as a previous salvage with low mileage. I put over 50K miles on it in two and a half years and only replaced the starter and the battery. When I bought this car I heard of the trans problems so I made sure to maintain the trans every 30k, if you do this I don't think you will have any major problems. Overall this car defines reliability.
Favorite Features
Reliability, looks, get good gas milage, smooth ride.
Suggested Improvements
Turning radius, leg room.

Try before you buy

1998 Chrysler Sebring 2 Dr LX Coupe
Review
After owning my '98 Sebring LXi for almost a year now, I can honestly say I am very pleased with my decision. The key, if you are thinking about purchasing a Sebring coupe, make sure you test it out and test it quite extensively. Transmissions are an achilles heel so ensure shifts are smooth at numerous RPM settings. The 2.5 V6 is silky smooth - just be sure to replace the timing belt around 100,000 miles to ensure everything keeps going for another 100,000. Sure, there are a few minor niggles but the sheer fact that these cars are packed with some features now seen on premium luxury cars (garage door opener, auto-dim mirror, etc.) makes a used Sebring an incredibly good deal.
Favorite Features
Smoothness of the V6; Infinity Audio; Turn of the millenium, chic style. Long legs on the highway too (turns 3000 rpm at 80mph and only 1900 rpm at 60mph!)
Suggested Improvements
Front valence ("the mouth") is very low - be CAREFUL! Alloys are soft and on low profile tires, may bend on severy potholes. Some slight tranny whine at certain speeds.

Granny's new ragtop
Vehicle
1998 Chrysler Sebring 2 Dr JXi Convertible
Review
For a seven yr old car it has plenty of get up and go. People notice it. I bought it on line, and drove it home (1,000 miles) with no problems. It is smooth shifting and has plenty of power for this 60 yr old grandmother. I prefer it to my vintage corvette.
Favorite Features
It's well equiped. Has everything I could ever use, and some I'll never use.
Suggested Improvements
None. It's a great used car.

It's Fun to Drive But!!!!!
Vehicle
1998 Chrysler Sebring 2 Dr LXi Coupe
Review
I bought as a used car. It is really fun to drive and I lke but I had so many probles with the front end and rear suspensions. It was OK to fix these parts as I really like the car but all the parts are very expensive. I recommend to by this car brand new and if used should be in a perfect shape and condition. I love my car despite all these problems and I won't get rid of it.
Favorite Features
Infinity Sound System, Style and Interior design.
Suggested Improvements
Chrysler should take more care of this care as I thin it would be a great product if all suspension and mechanical problems are solved in newer versions.

After 80000 miles
Vehicle
1998 Chrysler Sebring 2 Dr JX Convertible
Review
After 80000 miles and 7 years later, the body is still in excellent shape and the paint still shines. But the tie-rod ends go bad and then break, yes I said break, so you cannot steer when they break and could cause an accident. So have them replaced as soon as you buy one of these cars, or have the owner do it before you buy. The cross over tube in your cooling system deteriorates and needs to be replaced, kind of pricey. The rear defogger hasn't worked since I bought the car. The tranny is geared high so you don't get the full effect of the 168hp V6. And the computer puts the engine at idle once you hit 105mph. Doesn't go any faster unless you can get the rev limiter shut off.
Favorite Features
Looks, power, stereo sounds good. Fun to drive, and handles pretty good. Excellent in the snow.
Suggested Improvements
Tie rods ends need to be recalled, or be required change like the timing belt. Change Tie rod ends at around 70000 miles. Lowered gearing on the auto trannys, the new ones do the same thing.
