Used TMV from $6,295
I've got a 2007 PT Touring and am having this same problem!! I bought it used from a Chrysler dealer in '08 and had the axle replaced - on my dime - around 12 months later. Now, I'm having the same problem AGAIN!! I'm outside any warranty and called Chrysler in "Detroit" - which is apparently now located in India - and was given the runaround. Suggestions??
Dear dwjmd79: You had mentioned that this radiator fan issue is a known defect in PTs. I have a PT with this issue and I called Chrysler and they know nothing about it. They said if the part was "defective" that there would be a recall on it, but no recalls have been issued through NHTSA. Is this something that a mechanic told you or were you actually able to get ... Read More

Well, apparently, I bought the last $88 fan assembly. It seems that the price has coincidentally gone up to $94. That is still a lot better than $680 or $800! The direct link to the part is below: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2007/chrysler/pt_cruiser/cooling_system/radiato- r_fan_assembly.html
Well, I gave up and went to the Chrysler dealer to get a diagnostic on what was wrong. First of all, my dealer charges $98 to program the module. Second of all it wasn't the module after all, it was the low preasure switch. Third of all the first garage had damaged the high-side Shrader valve and all the refrigerant was gone. I paid $247 for Chrysler to fix it and ... Read More
My ac works intermittently, but mostly it doesn't work at all. I paid to have it analyzed and was told that the compressor clutch module is not working. They said it was $600 to replace and then Chrysler may have to program it. Chrysler would not say how much that would cost. Does this make sense? I can't seem to find out anything about such a module and where it is ... Read More
Hello, the car is a 2007, and it engin light would come on intermittently, when you acelerated, the car would start jurking and the engin would bog down untill you let off the gas. the chrysler dealer we when to said it was the ideler sensor on the belt. the charged us $400 and they sucked at it. the car had 37,000 miles on it and we were led to belive ... My owner's manual recommends replacing the timing belt at 90k miles (2007).
I’ll tell ya what wrong; there are two engine cam shaft Idler sensors. Ours (2007)went out and Chrysler wouldn’t pay for it to be fixed under warrantee, @ 37,500 miles. So, we told them to fix it, and we would pay, THEY REPLACED the wrong one. We took it to our regular mechanic when it was still doing it and he found the problem rite away. I think 1st of all ... I unhooked the battery on my PT to clean off some corrosion on one of the bolts. When I restarted the car, the CD player shuffled thru the discs and then CA-pooy. Radio does not even register that there is a CD player in the vehicle now. Took it to the Chrysler dealer and got a, "Um, yeah, um, Uh-huh." Was told that this is a problem with SOME PT's, but ... i wanted to thank you for this post! my air conditioner is fixed now, just in time for the first really hot week in the northeast this summer. a note to other 2007 pt cruiser owners who can't get the original low pressure switch from chrysler -- the santech part (MT 1191) is on back order now too but MT 0205 in conjunction with MT0135 will work too. I got this ... Read More
I was RIGHT when I started worrying about the health of the Big Three way back in early 2007. I predicted dire consequences for the Big Three if they couldn't stop losing market share. I had no idea of course of the bank crisis, etc, which I think accelerated what i feel was inevitable anyway. I was WRONG about the PT Cruiser. I remember saying "who would buy that mutt"? The ... my wife just traded her 2001 pt cruiser in on a 2007 with 15,000 miles on it at a Chrysler dealership. The car was purchased on jan.2,2008 and at the time we asked where the block heater was as any car that is built for Canada has to come with a block heater. Anyway my wife took the car back to the dealer today so that it could be put up ... Read More
I have a 2007 PT convertable automatic turbo with 7000 miles on it. Getting 17 miles to the gallon on average. I was told by putting a Magnaflow exhaust on I will get better gas mileage by 2 to 5 miles per gallon. Has anyone tried this and does it work.
UPDATE: On the vibration problem on some PT Cruisers. I have a 2007 and a 2006 PT Cruiser. The 2006 had a vibration at 18 - 20 and 40 - 50 mph. Very irritating. Took to a local Chrysler dealership to have the service manager tell me at 22000 miles their was nothing that could be done. Took the vehicle to Greensburg, Indiana dealership and they ask me to leave it ... Read More
Welcome Rebecca. Since you have never leased before, you definitely should check out the following informative articles that are available here at Edmunds.com prior to visiting any dealers: 10 Steps to Leasing a New Car and Calculate Your Own Lease Payment. I don't know what sort of monthly payment a PT Cruiser would have off of the top of my head. It will really depend upon how the model that you ... Read More
Hello all, How much should I pay for a brand new, left-over PT Cruiser GT? MSRP is $24,650 and it has only 15 miles on odometer. It's a gold five-speed manual GT with leather, sunroof, and SIRIUS satelite radio. I was thinking about offering $17,500 plus Tax for the car-new 2007s are going for $4,000 to $5,000 off MSRP already. Am I being fair? can I do better with 2008s starting ... Read More
I'd be happy to help you out, phys14. This vehicle's lease program varies by term and mileage allowance. You never mentioned what either of these variables are, so for now I will assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Its lease program also varies by region. For now I will assume that you are in the Northeastern U.S. Let me know if you ... Read More
I bought an 2006 base model with A/C, keyless, CD satellite radio and an auto trans for $11,200.00 (plus tax & lic) in November...a great deal on a very good transportation car. I don't think there are any differences between the '06 and the 2007 because the PT was just significantly refreshed in 2006. I would certainly buy this car again. It is not an exciting car to drive (like my ... Read More
No hard information, but my guess is that changes will be light since 2006 had a heavy update and the platform will apparently be migrating to the AWD capable Caliber platform for '08. Changes that MIGHT happen: adding side air bags to more trim lines; folding the Limited and Touring into a single model - or ditching the base and having it go Touring, Limited, GT; adding more power equipment to ...
