I purchased a 2004 pt cruiser new. The vehicle had electrical concerns when I owned it two years. The door locks would go up and down by themselves. I nicknamed her Christine and took it to the dealership. It was a door lock actuator. Covered by the warranty. I have had to replace the battery twice. Last October I was driving up a grade on the freeway and the car made ... Read More

I also heard a chirping sound coming from the passenger side of my 2004 PT Cruiser. My battery light kept coming on and off also. They replaced the belt that is on the left side of the car if you are looking from under the hood. Two days prior to that they replaced the fan in front of the radiator because the compressor kept coming on and off sporadically while the ... Read More

  • PT Cruiser Fog Lamp Problem

Written by: texasptdriver on Apr 23, 2008 9:15:43 PM

Well, I finally gave in and had my multi function switch replaced to the tune of $150.00. After about a week of leaving the left turn signal on after I exited the vehicle, it started to stay on again. It would go off if I applied pressure on the left turn signal lever, so I hooked a bungee cord to the lever and the seat frame and it would stay off. ... Read More

  • Tire/Wheel Size vs Rough Ride

Written by: pankoeb on Jul 12, 2006 6:44:39 AM

I've got a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT with original equipment Goodyear Eagle RS-A 205/50HR17 93H which are too rough riding; wheels are 17x6 Aluminum Chrome Clad. Whereas PT Cruiser Limited and Touring models use the 16x6 Aluminum Chrome Clad with 205/55R16 89T. The 17" wheels have limited tire size options and availability is scarce. The 16" wheels will allow more tire choices, but will the 16" wheels be an ok ... Read More

  • Traded in Our CR-V on a 2006 Base Model PT Cruiser

Written by: micweb on Mar 20, 2006 12:31:03 PM

My wife, who is small and also a newly licensed driver, felt uncomfortable in the CR-V (which we got by trading in a PT Cruiser, ironically). After exploring other smaller vehicle options (Cobalt, Caliber, Malibu, Matrix) we settled on another PT Cruiser - mainly because the packaging is very good (lots of rear seat legroom for kids), but here's what sealed the deal: 1. MUCH quieter than the 2004 we had ... Read More

The air conditioning just went out in my 2004 PT Cruiser also. I am told that it is not covered under warrenty either. They said the mileage is too high. Now I am wondering if it is because of a design problem. We have owned four other Chrysler vehicles with well over 100,000 miles and have never had a problem like this with the air conditioning. I was sitting at a ... Read More

While it's not mine, I wanted to pass along the sale of another PT. My mother-in-law traded her 2002 PT Touring Edition for an inferno red 2004 PT Cruiser GT this afternoon. While she loved her old PT, she wished she had leather, sunroof, bigger wheels and more power. Now she has it. Between our 2 Chrysler vans and her 2 PT Cruisers, we have bought 4 Chryslers in the last ... Read More

Hi gaguy1- Thanks for sending me the email. I've forwarded it onto our management for clarification. The wording is a little unclear, imo, and I apologize for the confusion this has caused. One thing I want to point out is that the email you sent me is from Edmunds Future Vehicle staff (Feedback Form response), which leaves me to think they are referring to a new (future) PT Cruiser trim line ... Does anyone have any new information from Chrysler as far as when the PT Cruiser Convertible will go on sale? We know that the target date for release is the spring of 2004, but isn't it possible that this car will go on sale as early as the fall of 2003?

I am looking at the Mini, the GT Cruiser, the Honda Element and they all have problems. The Mini has a bone-jarring ride on the Cooper S and you can't get an automatic on the S, but if you get the plain Cooper CVT, you don't have adequate power. You can't win either way. The Honda Element lacks a moonroof and is supposed to be slow with the automatic. I was ... Read More
