Hi there, I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus with 207k miles. It has the 2.5L V6 in which I just had the head-gasket redone and the head shaved less than 3k miles ago, I ran it out of gas recently on accident, put some new gas in and it ran fine for 700 to 1000 miles, Now the engine died a slow death, I would be driving at around 2K RPMS ... I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus, v6 2.5L. When starting the car it revs up to 2000-2200 rpm then drops back down. There is "NO" check engine light on & runs fine. But can't figure out why it starts this way! What is the fix for this problem or is this just normal for this type of car to start up???

First the basics, when was the last time you changed the fuel filter? How about Spark plug wires and plugs? Which engine are you talking about? If the fuel filter, etc; is OK, then I would look at the cam sensor as that sensor is most likely at fault given the problem you describe. Generally, the sensor plays a larger role at 2000+ RPM. I have a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus lxi which died suddenly on my way to work this week. I have checked the coil and distributor with an ohmmeter and everything checks out. I can hear the fuel pump kick in when I turn on the ignition key, and have tested absolutely everything with no spark yet to the engine. 266 000 kms, no problems whatsoever and now sudden death. I have a 2000 chrysler cirrus lxi 2.5L 6cyl. I was driving on the freeway yesterday at about 70 mph in Las Vegas traffic when out of the blue the engine on the car died. Sounds like you got yourself a . My 2000 LXi with 130K+ is doing just fine after a minor tranny repair, 3 outer freeze plug replacements, and radiator replacement. Check for recalls and see about a course of action.

We own a Chrysler Cirrus 2000, original owners with 56,000 miles. Last summer the gas light kept coming on and off and the fuel indicator on the dash drops slightly as the light is on then returns back to normal when the gas light is off, as we were driving. The dealership misrepresented that car! If you can prove the ECN used, go right back and tell them to make good, or call direct to manufacturer, get a lawyer if you have to, but do not put more money into the car. Go on line and check out recalls, tech bulletins and then go back to dealership. These guys tried to rip you off!
