1997 Chrysler Cirrus 4 Dr LX Sedan

205,000 miles and still going strong. The V6 motor has been great. The only above average maintenance item has been brakes.
Favorite Features
Performance and handling. A pleasure to drive.
Suggested Improvements
Better headlights.
Missed it by that much

Missed it by ... that much. Too much. In two years, I have had to service the brakes 3 times, replace ignition wires 2 times, and an idle knock has started in the lower end of the motor/tranny at 55,000 miles. Routine service was done. It averages only 18- 19 mpg around town with a 4 cylinder. It looks and handles nice, having lots of creature comforts. Also fast off the line and on the beltway. But, I plan to sell it. I was hoping for more mechanical reliability. I'm looking at Japanese cars now. I won't miss it much.
Favorite Features
Comfy interior and attractive rounded exterior lines in the cab forward design. Peepy motor and 4-speed auto.
Suggested Improvements
ABS is first generation. Rear brake hoses defective. Premature auto transmission problem prevalent in those model year(s) Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth products.

Since I have owned this vehicle I have not had any problems. It is not hard for me to keep the gas tank full and always starts gracefully. It also has enough room for my family to sit very comfortably. Thank you .

Gets the job done.
Vehicle
1997 Chrysler Cirrus 4 Dr LXi Sedan
Review
I like my car it gets me around, plenty of space moving back and forth from School, and its quick when it has to be. Performance wise its sound it holds up well in the city and on the highway. Maintance is a different story. My biggest complint behind the safety reports are the breaks, which need to be relpaced every year(front and rear). So it tends to be an expencive car, on top of the regular maintenance. Other then that its fine for a first car, but i can't recomend it.
Favorite Features
Looks great with a coat of wax. The CD player.
Suggested Improvements
Better safety standards, breaks, and its loud on the highway (don't bother whith the front cup holders use the ones in the back.)

Great car for the money
Vehicle
1997 Chrysler Cirrus 4 Dr LXi Sedan
Review
Bought it new and have had virtually no problems (just brakes etc) in 100,000 miles. Very roomy and comfortable, no complaints.
Favorite Features
Spacious interior (back seat is roomy), also putting the back seat down provides a large storage space, larger than some pickups.
Suggested Improvements

Best car we've owned!
Vehicle
1997 Chrysler Cirrus 4 Dr LXi Sedan
Review
The Cirrus LXI has been one of the nicest cars we've ever owned. We've had relatively few problems with it, other than a few quirky issues around 50k. (the cruise control and the keyless entry had to be "reset" by the dealer). As I recall, we also had to have the water pump replaced, which seems to be a common problem.
Favorite Features
The V6 has plenty of get-up-and-go and the interior is remarkably roomy for a car of this size.
Suggested Improvements
The cup holders need a serious re- design. They are too close to the dash so tall drinks don'f fit and because of the location of the shift knob, your drink can become "trapped" when you shift to park.

As good as it gets!!!!!!
Vehicle
1997 Chrysler Cirrus 4 Dr LXi Sedan
Review
This has been by far the best Chrysler product I have driven. I purchased the car with 43 miles on it, as a leftover, and have driven it a trouble free 143,000 miles. My only complaint is the seat travel, you feel alittle too close to the dashboard, and with the great room in the back, alittle more travel would have been nicer. Now, at 143K, the car is beginning the old nickle and diming. Radio is getting flakey, bushing and suspension parts need replacing. But after 143K, can I complain? Hell no!
Favorite Features
The entire car, and the candy apple red paint!
Suggested Improvements
Cup holders are too close to the dashboard, as are the seats!

This car has great looks and a powerful V6 engine that will last you for a long time if you give it some maintnance. The only problem I had with this car was the water pump.
Favorite Features
A very loud and clear stereo with a Cassette and CD changer, the power seats, and the sporty body desing.
Suggested Improvements
Better custom rims and a supercharged manual engine.

Hire some engineers 4 crying out loud
Vehicle
1997 Chrysler Cirrus 4 Dr LX Sedan
Review
The body and interior are great. The mechanical layout and design quality are terrible! Service perfomed in the first 100K miles... Replaced transmission servo-valve package due to leaks. Research has shown that this is a common issue for this Chysler transmission. Replaced front axle Replaced water pump Replaced timing belt (when will manufacturers stop burying a limited life component deep inside the engine?!? Duh!!! Other normal wear items (brakes, etc.)
Favorite Features
This has been an average car. Nothing great. If you put a gun to my head, I would say the interior is my favorite feature.
Suggested Improvements
Hire some engineers, for crying out loud! Sexy lines mean nothing if the design sucks! The dealer service level is poor. Don't built valve cases using rivets; they leak. (again, duh!)
