roadside service -- not!
Written by: intrepidspirit on Feb 2, 2005 1:25:05 PM
I got an unpleasant surprise yesterday. My 2003 300M (9,500 miles) got a flat tire at work. I called Chrysler roadside assistance to change the tire (as I have done at least twice before with previous Chrysler/Dodge products). I was told that, beginning with the 2003 vehicles, roadside assistance was no longer available for flat tires! I would think that probably 50% of vehicle disablements would probably be due to ... intermittent dash light flicker
Written by: intrepidspirit on Nov 10, 2004 2:55:51 PM
This appears to be one of the "light show" features of the 300M that many have experienced. It is impossible to intentionally duplicate, so it is a Chrysler service department's dream -- could not duplicate problem! Since it can't be duplicated, it has never (to my knowledge) ever been repaired in any 300M. Hence no TSB. Both my wife and I have experienced this in our past 300M's (2000 and 2001), ... Read More

gas mileage...
Written by: intrepidspirit on Aug 2, 2004 11:36:14 AM
In my previous posts about gas mileage, my major complaint was that the gas mileage on the 300M got worse from the 2000 to 2003 model years, while the smog index reduced from 1.00 to .48, which, I believe, would reduce the gas mileage. If changes were made to the engine to reduce gas mileage, I feel that the EPA gas mileage rating should be changed accordingly. One other unfavourable variable ... Read More

gas mileage
Written by: intrepidspirit on Jul 6, 2004 8:47:26 AM
My leased 2000 300M got great gas mileage. When I turned it in, I bought a 2003 M. My wife recently got a new (demonstrator) 300M to replace her 2001, which was totalled. We have both noticed that the gas mileage has not been as good as the prior models (2000 & 2001). However, we have only 7,000 miles on each of the 2003's, so it may get a little better. ... Read More

"Those "bubble" Chryslers were arguably the most handsome line of cars on the road (still are?)." I agree 100%! A few weeks ago, we were looking for a replacement car for my wife (she totalled hers). There were no deals on 300M's -- probably because the dealers couldn't get enough 300's to sell. I'll admit I considered buying a 300C (my wife would have taken over my 300M because she hates ... Congratulations! I assume that the Beauty you refer to is your 99 300M and not the "Black Beauty" parked at work! With 2 2003 300M's in the stable, I don't plan on any replacements anytime soon. Interestingly, someone on the 300C board said Chrysler made a good move in ending the production of the "bubble" cars. I agree it may have been time to move on if for no other reason ... Read More

Sorry to hear about your tranny. Yours is a real exception -- I haven't heard of 300M mechanical transmission failures. I wish you luck with Chrysler on the extended warranty issue. I have found DC to be very bureaucatic on these issues. When I bought my 2003 M to replace the 2000 M I had on lease, there literally was a $500 rebate form in the mail to me. It was ... Read More

I went to a Chrysler Route 2003 test drive event in South Florida, in the parking lot of the Marlins ball park. They had Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep areas. I spent most of the time at the Chrysler area. They had a pretty tight course laid out with cones, plus a little drag strip with a stop sign at the end - first you are supposed to floor the gas pedal ... Read More

Anyone else get a special by-appointment-only offer to buy back your 99 300M by your dealer? I did and they said it was because the demand for the 99 is so great that they want to make me an offer on any other car, truck or suv on the lot that they are sure I will not resist (eye roll). Thank you for the link. Those were the wheels I was thinking about. They look better now than when I last saw them, but I still don't think they make the 300M look like a premium car. However, I can also get a new 2003 Honda Accord V6 at dealer cost ($22,900). The 300M would cost me about $2,500-$3,000 more with the extras I want. from beach15, topcut, and ottowrkr on my question about the 2004 300M. Sounds like I could buy the current design next fall as a 2004 model, or wait until sometime in 2004 for the redesign. topcut -- you said your info was from the website -- which site is that? I went to chrysler.com and all I found was 2003 info, no news on upcoming redesigns. Thanks.

Chrysler is even decontenting the brochures! The 2003 300M brochure has no specification page...that's right, no measurements, capacities...nothing! How do they expect anyone to make a buying decision? I'm getting disgustet with the whole decontenting situationn It's precisely why I left Ford for Chrysler in 1998. Well, the buyout on my 2000 M is just about exactly what the black book is according to the bank I leased through - not a D/C lease, a bank lease. Bank said I'd have to pay the full residual, which was pegged at lease time at 51-52% as I recall. Residual for a 2003 M is pegged at 42% right now. But at least in the case the dealer ran, ... Wow, those price cuts sure do rock. Starting MSRP for a 2002 300m is $28,995 with Destination while a 2001 $30,295. Gorsh, an Acura TL is $33,710! Hmmm it seems to me that everyone who is complaining about the 300m should either fork out the extra $5 grand for the imports or use that $5 grand for performance mods to make the 300m faster than any $34,000 Acura.
