It sounds to me like you have a grounding problem. All ground wire mounting spots/points must be checked for rust or corrosion. Remove driving light on passenger side (ground wires there). Remove ground terminals from driver's side inner fender rail , clean with wire brush etc. There are major discrepancies in the Chrysler Service manuals , as to whether or not there "is" or "should be" a dedicated ground cable going ... This is happening to now on my 2002 Chrysler 300m. Hard downshift to 2nd and the flickering interior and dash lights. Never would have thought the two things to be related. Did the flushing of the transmission solve the problem of downshifting?

I believe Chrysler had issues with the 300M series in 2002 and 2003 with sensors and PCs going bad. I found many posts about this and wish I would have known that when I picked up this car. The problem with this radio is a common one on just about all 2001 and 2002 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, etc. models. It is actually the microprocessor in the radio going bad. 24k service. Done.
Went ahead and did a 24,000 service on the 300M. The dealer changed the oil and filter on the 2002 Chrysler 300M. They also went ahead and did a complete fuel system service. Removed the throlttle body, cleaned the system out from carbon buildup and flushed the injectors. Colant service was done as well. Drained and re-filled with new coolant. Luckily (I guess or DC fixed this weird bug) my 2004 has not shown this light show problem in 17,000 mi. I suspect that a 2000 Chrysler has only 3/36 warranty which is what my 2001 Jeep had before I bought a 5/70 extended warranty which just expired. My daughters 2002 Chrysler 300M has also developed the problem with the interior flashing lights. It has done it twice so far. She has also had the check engine light come on also. It eventually goes out. Have not been to a dealer yet to have it checked out.

300M Transmission Rolling Back
Hello. I just bought a 2002 Chrysler 300M Pro-AM Edition and I have 7,000 miles on it. When I am on a steep hill, the car tends to roll back a lot, while other cars don't. I mean it's supposed to roll back, but if I don't hit break, it will continue rolling back like it's on neutral. Is this normal, other 300M owners please help.

on a 300M model year purchase. The consensus seems to be that the 2001 may be the best used car buy. Several of you noted that Chrysler started to remove luxury features starting in 2002. Does the 300M Special reintroduce those features?

Well, the buyout on my 2000 M is just about exactly what the black book is according to the bank I leased through - not a D/C lease, a bank lease. Bank said I'd have to pay the full residual, which was pegged at lease time at 51-52% as I recall. Residual for a 2003 M is pegged at 42% right now. But at least in the case the dealer ran, ... When you go can you ask the following questions? 1. Do they allow "Meets" there, as in 300M Meets? 2. Are you allowed to drive your own personal vehicle on the test track? I was just checking out the chrylser site and found a description of the wheels for the 2002 M. The Chrome ones have a clearcoat over them. I wonder if the chrome wheels for all other years have a clearcoat over them? You have to be careful what you uses to clean them if they have a clearcoat. I thought it was an exaggeration by the Infiniti salesman but I guess not. We test drove a G35 & after the drive saw a new 300M on the lot. I happened to be watching Primetime last night on ABC when they did a report on Chrysler Gen 3 seat belts. The problem they detailed is that the release button on the buckles just protrudes too high above the body of the buckle. I don't mind a few chrome *things*, like wheels, exhaust tips, and even the grille. But chrome strips just slapped on for no good reason -- ick! On a silver or white car they tend to disappear, so that's tolerable, but chrome-outlined windows on a black car, no way. Here's something I find interesting - the DC Canada site has been updated for MY 2002 whereas the U.S. site seems only to have updated the "Build Your Own" part for 2002. The Canadian site includes info about the 300M Special including a view of the interior with a description of the differences from the standard 'M interior. Distressing to see DC is planning a $24,000 entry level 300M. However, if I read your post correctly, it looks entirely different from the current M, so we may be safe for a while. I think I can explain it - unlike back in 1999, 2002 brings a lot of yummy competition: Acura TL and TL-S Nissan Maxima Nissan Altima Infiniti I35 these cars at least have the same amount of features as 300M for approximately the same amount of money. Chrysler management should not have sat on their butts for a few years without making any significant improcements to the 300M.

Wow, those price cuts sure do rock. Starting MSRP for a 2002 300m is $28,995 with Destination while a 2001 $30,295. Gorsh, an Acura TL is $33,710! Hmmm it seems to me that everyone who is complaining about the 300m should either fork out the extra $5 grand for the imports or use that $5 grand for performance mods to make the 300m faster than any $34,000 Acura. It appears as though that article that was posted on this board about DC lowering prices is true. From the people who have seen 2002's and their window stickers, the 300M appears to have at least $1,000-1,500 cut off of the 2001 prices. MikeyJohn, I removed my CHRYSLER door lettering one week after I recieved my "M". I looked at other cars and 99% of the cars(Lexus, BMW, ect..) do not have this type of lettering/tag that IMHO looks chessy. will come with 3.5L 260hp V6, close-ratio six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. It will beat 300M in 0-60 easy. Chrysler, why still offer a sluggish 4-speed, at least a 5-speed auto, should 300M has a R/T model with six speed manual ? YES. LOOK at the sales drop of 300M.
