300M Transmission Rolling Back

Hello. I just bought a 2002 Chrysler 300M Pro-AM Edition and I have 7,000 miles on it. When I am on a steep hill, the car tends to roll back a lot, while other cars don't. I mean it's supposed to roll back, but if I don't hit break, it will continue rolling back like it's on neutral. Is this normal, other 300M owners please help.

Well, the buyout on my 2000 M is just about exactly what the black book is according to the bank I leased through - not a D/C lease, a bank lease. Bank said I'd have to pay the full residual, which was pegged at lease time at 51-52% as I recall. Residual for a 2003 M is pegged at 42% right now. But at least in the case the dealer ran, ... The above questions are to anyone attending the Chrysler Route 2002, the Dodge Route 2002, or the Jeep Route 2002. I do not think you need to ask the second question for the Jeep Route 2002. Thanks

2002 Chrysler 300m is about $1,000 less than 2001
Written by: aj_tomasi on Aug 28, 2001 8:12:03 AM
Wow, those price cuts sure do rock. Starting MSRP for a 2002 300m is $28,995 with Destination while a 2001 $30,295. Gorsh, an Acura TL is $33,710! Hmmm it seems to me that everyone who is complaining about the 300m should either fork out the extra $5 grand for the imports or use that $5 grand for performance mods to make the 300m faster than any $34,000 Acura. Or better yet ... Read More

2002 300M Special Image
Written by: beach15 on Aug 11, 2001 12:35:37 PM
Although Chrylser hasn't yet updated their website with the 2002 models, I was able to find the image that they'll use in the "Build Your Own" section. A local dealer uses these standard Chrysler images with their website inventory, and had it own their site. From this small pic, you can see the 18" wheels, the gray ground effects, and the turning signal mirrors if you look close. From what I ... Read More

2002 M Special
Written by: fcm on Aug 11, 2001 10:44:46 AM
Went to Roanoke this morning and John Jastman let me see the material he has from Chrysler about the Special. He said he can take orders in September for November delivery, no word on price or what the horsepower increase is. Here's what the Special has standard over and above the other 300M's: 360 watt stereo and 11 Infinity speakers; smoker's group; auto adjust in reverse mirrors; perf anti-lock brakes (perforated? ... I go to my 5* dealer last week. salesman tells me he's got a 2002 300M and Concorde but, ssshhhh...(wink,wink), it's like a secret he has any. Sorry guys, I have to agree with fuzzy on this one. If you're coming from an MB, I think you'll probably be disappointed in the quality, feel, ride, and most of all, quietness of a 300M. Don't get me wrong, the 300M is a nice car for it's price class and it is still probably one of the best looking cars in the world, but after a month or so, you ... Read More

Sorry if you got the impression you were being snubbed. Nothing intentional. I don't think any of us, even otto knows yet when the 300M Special will be built. They have said it will be a 2002-1/2 model, so best guess would probably be early next spring. When the news leaks, you'll surely see it here first. Thanks for stopping by. Many of us here also belong to the Chrysler 300M ... Read More

2002 pricing & flimsy body
Written by: beach15 on Aug 3, 2001 3:27:32 PM
It appears as though that article that was posted on this board about DC lowering prices is true. From the people who have seen 2002's and their window stickers, the 300M appears to have at least $1,000-1,500 cut off of the 2001 prices. Now I wonder if they'll still offer the kind of rebates they do after a few months into the model year. ruski- As for the flimsy body, I ... Read More

MikeyJohn: letter removal
Written by: tucsongil on Jul 18, 2001 2:46:52 PM
MikeyJohn, I removed my CHRYSLER door lettering one week after I recieved my "M". I looked at other cars and 99% of the cars(Lexus, BMW, ect..) do not have this type of lettering/tag that IMHO looks chessy. Only DC vehicles have this tagging but the Dodge ones do not look as bad since the total lettering amount is smaller. Two reasons to remove this lettering: 1) The 300M bagdeing is the ... Read More

I don't know if it's just me, but what the heck is Chrysler been thinking lately. They're on the right track with the tire pressure monitor which I'd love to have on our 2000, but why is then going to be so expensive when the battery dies? As for the letter removal on the doors, it doesn't really make a difference, just a little cleaner look to some. But then, WHY ... Read More

Message for people afraid of ProwlerPro gears
Written by: aj_tomasi on Jul 16, 2001 9:32:16 AM
I know some of you see the PP gears as something that will limit your autobahn speed and eat away at your gas milage. Here's something that you could do and that Chrysler did for the 300m Special concept car that might not run you an arm and a leg. Go to your friendly Chrysler dealership or one of those places online and order the gear set from the 2.7 Chrylser ... Read More

fine gravel on the road... perfect for a four-wheel drift! everyone - improvements since 1999 compare 300M vs Acura TL. They were introduced around the same time. 300M had better power and features. Since then Acura has not sat on their butt as much as Chrysler - they managed to catch up and surpass 300M in the features AND performance department. Now they have memory seats, standard side bags, 260HP, and ... Read More

will come with 3.5L 260hp V6, close-ratio six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. It will beat 300M in 0-60 easy. Chrysler, why still offer a sluggish 4-speed, at least a 5-speed auto, should 300M has a R/T model with six speed manual ? YES. LOOK at the sales drop of 300M.

Over at Car-Truck news, they have recently posted more inoformation regarding the 2002 Chrysler vehicles. Here is a quote from the recent article: "The 300M Special (which is designated as the 28S package) will be available in black, silver, or Deep Sapphire with either a Taupe with Dark Slate Gray or a solid Dark Slate Gray interior." It didn't say anything else for the M but I think the two-tone interior ... Read More
