Your reply seems to have much merit for the following problem. My question is, how many connections are there to be checked and cleaned? Instrument cluster back lights have been an intermittent occurrence over the past two plus years. Either came on and stayed on or did not come on at all. (2002 Chrysler 300M special, 165K miles). Any suggestions on what to look for with the Chrysler 300M (2002) being stuck all the way in the up position? The seat moves back and forth, but will not go up or down. When you press the button up or down, the motor THUNKs, then stops. It is like it is trying to move, but is stopped by some limit switch or something. Appreciate any help!
When considering spark plugs for any engine , no matter what mechanic / gearhead / hotrodder or even /engineer says : you have to consider that the spark plugs are "calibrated" for each specific engine. It sounds to me like you have a grounding problem. All ground wire mounting spots/points must be checked for rust or corrosion. Remove driving light on passenger side (ground wires there). Here's something I find interesting - the DC Canada site has been updated for MY 2002 whereas the U.S. site seems only to have updated the "Build Your Own" part for 2002. The Canadian site includes info about the 300M Special including a view of the interior with a description of the differences from the standard 'M interior. URL for 300M: http://www.daimlerchrysler.ca/CA/02/EN/CHRYSLER/1,,CA-02-EN-CHRYSLER-300M,.html Special interior: http://www.daimlerchrysler.ca/CA/02/EN/CHRYSLER/1,,CA-02-EN-CHRYSLER-300M-INTERIOR-SEATING,.html
I have just received a Chrysler Magazine with pictures of 2002 300M special, the double muffler looks cool with one tube per muffler. Look like the one Jaguar has. I feel 4 tubes seem to be too much for this car, it is not a sport car after all. Production data is January 2002. I hope they don't make entry level 300M, that is kind of stupid. I can see more ... Hey guys, watch out for the new Chrysler commercial. I was just sitting here on the computer and heard some music playing and the the word Chrysler. I looked over and there is a new silver 2002 300M Special speeding down the road, in a camera view from the side. Then they had a lady driving a new silver Sbring convertible with the top down going on the same road. Keep ... Read More
Distressing to see DC is planning a $24,000 entry level 300M. However, if I read your post correctly, it looks entirely different from the current M, so we may be safe for a while. A couple of years ago, Chrysler (Dodge) started producing entry level Intrepids, which, in my view, cheapened the entire line. Intrepids became rental and fleet cars and had "dime a dozen" visibility, with cheap interiors. The higher ... Read More
Well, maybe...... I went with a co-worker today to pick up his new car. It happend to be an Acura RL. I looked at a TL-S, & CL-S while we were waiting. Brand new 2002's in silver with black leather. No NAV system though(I hate them anyway) I'm sorry, but I wish this car was out when I bought the 300M. It would be mine now :) I understand why fastdriver ... Read More
the Doctor will be one of your next customers--but I need the url for your album to make my selection. Maybe then, at the next East Coast Chrysler 300m Enthusiasts Rendezvous 2002, I can qualify for the MINIMUM number of 'mods' <*wink*>. The link below takes you to a satellite image of Ground Zero. Da Fed is the orange-roofed building about mid-image. Why not PAINT a target on the roof, too?! ... Read More
Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Herzlich Willkommen zu dem 300M Enthusiast Club! From one of many who posts here in the Edmunds Town Hall 300M forum, I welcome you to the 300M Enthusiast Club! I hope you enjoy the fellowship of our community as much as I, and I know many others, enjoy this fine automobile from DaimlerChrysler. We welcome the 2002 300M and look forward to future developments on the Chrysler 300M ... Read More
I think I can explain it - unlike back in 1999, 2002 brings a lot of yummy competition: Acura TL and TL-S Nissan Maxima Nissan Altima Infiniti I35 these cars at least have the same amount of features as 300M for approximately the same amount of money. Chrysler management should not have sat on their butts for a few years without making any significant improcements to the 300M.
The Chrysler Group is slashing prices an average of just under one percent in an effort to regain lost market. George Murphy, the Chrysler Group's vice president of marketing, said the price cuts would not substitute for rebates and other incentives. The incentives won't go away but the lower prices will help Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep attract web browsers, who are hunting for lowest sticker price. The same strategy has already ... Read More
I was getting my hopes up, thinking that maybe if they put HIDs into the Special, then the regular 300M could get the European projector lights (that they should have had from the very beginning). I guess Chrysler management had a better idea. That 2002 Nissan Altima looks better and better every day. If I have any money left, I am pretty sure I am gonna get the Altima instead of ... Read More
Wow, those price cuts sure do rock. Starting MSRP for a 2002 300m is $28,995 with Destination while a 2001 $30,295. Gorsh, an Acura TL is $33,710! Hmmm it seems to me that everyone who is complaining about the 300m should either fork out the extra $5 grand for the imports or use that $5 grand for performance mods to make the 300m faster than any $34,000 Acura. Or better yet ... Read More
If you go by your 5* or I guess any Chrysler dealer they should have the 2002 300M brochure available which prominently list info and pics about the 02 Special. yes, sadly 255 HP is all thats listed as well as tuned up suspension and gearing. check post#8067 (8485) for a little more detail. November looks like the announced dates for beginning of production. Otto, will let us know when he ... Read More
Although Chrylser hasn't yet updated their website with the 2002 models, I was able to find the image that they'll use in the "Build Your Own" section. A local dealer uses these standard Chrysler images with their website inventory, and had it own their site. From this small pic, you can see the 18" wheels, the gray ground effects, and the turning signal mirrors if you look close. From what I ... Read More
Went to Roanoke this morning and John Jastman let me see the material he has from Chrysler about the Special. He said he can take orders in September for November delivery, no word on price or what the horsepower increase is. Here's what the Special has standard over and above the other 300M's: 360 watt stereo and 11 Infinity speakers; smoker's group; auto adjust in reverse mirrors; perf anti-lock brakes (perforated? ... Otto, Sorry about the news of the shutdown. :( I dont get DC. I go to my 5* dealer last week. salesman tells me he's got a 2002 300M and Concorde but, ssshhhh...(wink,wink), it's like a secret he has any. Also no update on Chrysler web site about 2002 models are available, info on features etc... Ok I understand they're still lots of 01's on the lot they need to move ... Read More
Sorry guys, I have to agree with fuzzy on this one. If you're coming from an MB, I think you'll probably be disappointed in the quality, feel, ride, and most of all, quietness of a 300M. Don't get me wrong, the 300M is a nice car for it's price class and it is still probably one of the best looking cars in the world, but after a month or so, you ... Read More
