RE: 2008 Chevy Uplander Problem Child [4boysmom]
Written by: mkauz52 on Mar 1, 2012 2:08:09 PM
Well I have previously commented in this thread and am still an owner of a 2005 Buick Terraza. My terraza has had pages of problems that I have had to fix. Since I commented last I have changed both front hub assemblies, and had two more sets of tires put on, and brakes twice. I now have 141,000 miles on my van. (the deathtrap-as my kids call it) Has my life ... Read More

I have a 2008 Uplander with a similar problem. The ABS, Traction Control and Stability Control lights came on at approximately 30,000 miles and was covered under warranty. This time (at 85,000 miles) I'm getting a warning light for the Traction and Stability Control, but no ABS light. Doug Chevrolet told me it might still be covered under the powertrain warranty; if not then $109 to diagnose. Of course the diagnosis ... Read More

Susan, Front driver side 3 times (Once for bearing and twice for sensor) and passenger front twice. I think the first time for both sides and GM part, all the other were aftermarket. Ironically, the most recent have lasted the longest. Sarah, Look for an email.

It's a cold time of the year to be without heat! I see that you have been working with a shop - is this a GM dealership? If we can set up a Customer Assistance case to further evaluate the situation, please send us an email including the following information: your name and Edmunds username, contact information (phone and address, please), the last 8 digits of your VIN and current mileage, ... When you had the hub replaced, did they put on a GM part, or aftermarket, such as Timken?

I just had something similar happen. My 2005 Relay has had the left hub replaced 3 times and the right 2 times. ABS light is almost always on. Once it gets replaced, it only stays off for 6 months. On Saturday (Dec 31), I took it to the shop to have them work on the brakes and get it inspected, it cost me $1,500. While at the shop, they disconnected the ... Read More

I'm sorry that you've had so many frustrations with your Uplander. If I'm understanding your post correctly, the current concern is with the "Service" messages? Have the other concerns been resolved? I'm sorry for so many questions, but I have one more just so I can better understand your situation: have you worked with Customer Assistance before, and if so, could you provide us with your Service Request numbers? 2005 Chevrolet Uplander-Same problem as Susanssv7
Written by: van_man on Dec 5, 2011 11:28:35 PM
Caron, My van has 107,000 miles on it. At first that may sound great but I've spent a ton of money keeping this thing on the road. Since 38,000 miles I've gotten the "Service ABS System", "Service Traction Control", and "Service Stability Control" messages all at the same time (same as Susanssv7). The messages are on about 90% of the time and nobody can figure out the root cause. This van ... Read More

I brought my 2005 Uplander in for 2 recalls from Chevy and I also wanted them to change the programming module that allows the door locks to open automatically when it is put in park. They said they could do it. Two visits and 8 hours later, they told me that Chevy says this is a safety feature and they would be recalling any Uplander that was released without this option. ... Summer, I would email you, but I don't think your email address is public. Anyway, a few comments on the Uplander/SV6 vans and a comparison to the Sienna. I think with all of the features you want, it will be hard to get your payments at $350/month unless you lease, like I did. The Uplander and Sienna both have heated seats (if you get leather) like your Envoy, depending on the ... Read More

Well if you've had good experienceswith GM, then I guess it makes sense to stick with them. I tried them for a while, but time to move on. Maybe my next vehicle will be one, but I doubt it. My local GM dealer is also the Toyota dealer, although the Chevy dealership is about 1/5 the size. I'm not sure what surveys you are referring to, but year in and year ... Read More

Just wanted to provide an update. The radio came in and my dealer replaced the original in my Uplander a couple of days ago. So far, all is working perfectly now. For a full description of the problem I was having, the following link should direct you to my original post: new2vans, "Chevrolet Uplander/Pontiac Montana SV6/Saturn Relay/Buick Terraza" #1908, 23 Mar 2005 7:08 pm :)

I own a Montana SV6. It was as basic as I could find (26,645 MSRP including Delivery). Therefore I was researching the same question. I came across this bulletin at http://www.gmtechlink.com/images/issues/cnt_mo/TLcme.html#story1 Here is what it says System 3 -- DVD RSE The following two kits (p/n 15136091 and 15136092) are released for the 2005-07: - Buick Terraza - Chevrolet Uplander - Pontiac Montana SV6 - Saturn Relay TIP: ... Crash Test Rating
Written by: gmhellman on Jan 4, 2005 12:21:06 PM
I just checked the NHTSA web site and the only crash test ratings for 2005 Chevrolet Minivans was the 05 Venture. It received 4 stars on frontal head on for pass/driver, 5 star driver side impact and 4 star for the passenger side impact. The Uplander was listed as TBT (To Be Tested). Your dealer either has pre-released ratings or was confused about the ratings. I hope that it does well, ... Read More

Nothing is free, especially not health care. Not sure short vans have that much to do with taxes, but I'm sure that's part of the reason they sell better up here. I have heard they handle snow better also. Who knows. Short Uplander and SV6 have less equipment I believe, especially the Uplander value though it still has Onstar. http://www.gmcanada.com/english/vehicles/2005/chevrolet/uplander/- - upla_mode.html

I spoke to Chevrolet Customer Support again today and they indicated from their documentation that the 2005 Uplander and Montana srv6 will be built with a regular and extended wheelbase in US. They also said the Saturn Relay and Buick Terrazo(sp) look to be available only in the extended length. I hope their right because I can't fit an extended length van in my garage. There is no longer any Short Wheelbase Montana available in the USA (2004 was last year for them, stopped production month or so ago). Both the 2005 Montana or the 2005 Montana SV6 are only Extended Lengths. Not sure if Chevrolet has a Shorty 2005 Venture, but they will not have a 2005 Uplander in the Short Wheelbase.
