Numerous problems. First, I have to say that I like the Traverse utility and ride but this has been THE WORST vehicle I have ever owned when it comes to service issues. I purchased my Traverse LT in February 2009. I drive mostly highway miles...a lot of miles. I currently have 48K miles on the car/truck. I really wanted to buy American and I know this is one of the cars ... Read More
Hello my name is A.Jorge, I desperate looking to get certification CO2 Emissions for a 2009 Chevrolet Travers LT, I had find same information chart but it is not possibly to use tat tip of information, I just export my 2009 Traverse to a European Country and now they ask me a certification from the factory or associated auto dealer in order to register the car plates . After a had ... Read More
Sounds like something is causing this problem and the dealer needs to investigate, replace whatever comes in contact with the chains. Sounds like all they did was throw on a new chain. I'd also call corp. and get them involved and I would want to know just what their plans are BEFORE they do any work as if they say all they are replacing is the chain then this just doesn't ... Today will mark the 3rd time since Sept. 24. my traverse has been inoperable. The first two times it was the timing chains and this time seems like the same. My wife, myself and 4 children were traveling about 75mph when without warning the engine shutdown and check engine light popped. The last 2 X'S it has run but stumbling and sputtering. This time dead nuts, it didn't re-fire untill about ... Read More
Hey dolphin5. Here's the information that you're looking for. GMAC's current base lease rate and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse LT2 AWD with 15,000 miles per year are 0.75% and 44%, respectively. The General is currently providing a $1,900 cash incentive on leases of this truck through GMAC. GM is not currently providing lease support on the 2009 version of this truck. Car_man Host ... Bought August 2009 a late 09 model with 39 miles on my and feel the same shifting stumbles as noted on many sites ( Google chevrolet traverse transmission problem) and you will see many. some articles since October 2008 so Chevy hasn't had enoght time to work out kinks. owned GM cars for 25 years and lost a lot of $$$ on GM stock but after car shopping I can see ... I bought a new 2009 Traverse LTZ almost a week ago and really love it. It is a great vehicle and I have no regrets going from an Acura TL to the Traverse. I am surprised how easy it is to drive and back up, and it's also easy to park. I was concerned about it being larger than my Acura, but so far it only seems to be a wonderful ... Read More

I went to a NE Pennsy Acadia dealer first, and got the run around with my trade, a loaded 2005 Trailblazer LT, with 87000 mi. on it. I walked, even tho' we got within $800 of my goal. Yesterday - went to my local chevy dealer in PA, and looked at 2009 Traverse, with navi, trailer package and rear view cam, MSRP $37, 900, and GMS priced at $36 202. rebates ... Read More
Although they say GM is in trouble and should be more than willing to negotiate on their vehicles, I am finding the negotiation process on a 2009 Chevy Traverse a hassle. I come to realize that trying to get the best price via the internet is not worth it as most dealers will not respond unless you come into the dealership. When I did visit one dealership, the negotiation process was ... Read More
Is bloviating your profession or are you just really good at talking without out really saying much. By the way, keeping it short and sweet, we have 6 cars in our family, 5 American and one Honda Civic. The civic is without a doubt the car we least like to drive. It is hard for us to see why people think Japanese cars are really so great. They lack style, they ... Read More
This post is so full of inaccuracies and plain old fashioned BS that I barely know where to start. How about the beginning: Let's see. Your first paragraph belittles "Quality Surveys" as nothing more than public opinion based on TV commercials (?). Then, in an attempt to back your claim that domestic manufacturers are building better cars, you reference the most recent survey by saying that Buick (and Jaguar) beats Lexus. ... Read More
I have been emailing local dealerships for a 3 year lease $0 down, 12k miles per year on a 2009 Traverse LS ($29,065 msrp) in the Los Angeles area. I have been getting quotes in the $450-$600 dollar range. These quotes seem extremely high to me. I for some reason thought I would be receiving rock bottom prices in the $300's range. Am I wrong to expect this? Something I found ... Read More
Narg - I am totally with you that the domestics (prehaps not including Chrysler) have improved greatly and are comparable to Toyota and Honda in quality. Truedelta does bear out that GM and Ford have improved over time and I have much more confidence in treudelta's data than Consumer Reports which has no numerical values and is 12-18 months out of date. Truedelta will have Traverse data in February '09 whereas ... Read More
guy1974, I'm a participant in www.truedelta.com. If you look closely at their data, you will start to see the American cars moving upward, where foriegn cars are stagnating in quality ratings. (you can find the same movement in Consumer Reports, and other car rating sources.) Also consider this web site is unfortuantely easy to "taint" with bad data. Competition in the car market with owners is feirce, so much so I ... Read More
Nope, zone4, I didn't forget about others. And YES competition is a very good thing. In this case it was an EXTREMELY good thing, as I stated that now American made cars and trucks are vastly better than before, and today becoming better than any Asian made vehicle. (P.S. don't get me started on the telecom thing, remember it blew up in the early 2000's due to competition problems. So sometimes ... Read More
I have also looked at the Traverse and think it is a good looking large CUV. Similar to the Buick in some details. The GMC Acadia is the more traditional SUV styling and looks handsome. My wife and I looked at a Honda Pilot and a Chevy Traverse and my wife who usually favors imports thought the interior design and quality was better in the Chevy. one thing though Narg - ... Have you forgotten that Ford, Chevy, and Dodge sell their vehicles overseas? In fact if it wasn't for their overseas markets they would be more in debt and probably out of business. So when the people of other countries buy American vehicles they are sending money overseas also to America. American car companies don't make enough money to pay all their employees without selling cars overseas. So the people who buy ... Read More
This opinion is directed at all who posted here about so-called Asian quality... "Quality Surveys" are based on public opinion. Which in turn is based more on TV commercials rather than true reality. TV commercials where Toyota often flat out lies. (anyone recall the "meteor proof" commercial? Tell me that wasn't a lie...) Bottom line, GM & Ford today build a car as good, and in some cases BETTER than any ... Read More
I saw the Traverse today at the dealership while I was having mu oil changed and it looked way better in person than it does online. The quality inside was incredible, enough so that I had to at least sit in it for a while and look around. It has the same controls as my Avalanche LTZ and seems to have taken a styling que from the Malibu, very nice. I ... Read More
Actually what is ailing the American Car companies is there agreements with the Unions over the last 30 years which have made it much more difficult to compete in the world market. Case in point GM is the number one car maker in China, very successful in Brasil and Chevy is the number one car in eastern Europe. GM is producing incredible cars right now and all are receiving the highest ... Read More
The whole quality thing is mostly perception at this point. How many people do you think know that for 2008 Dependability (what you are refering to as long term) the Buick beats the Honda and Toyota in the midsize category? (yes, that is the Accord and Camry) I will answer that question . Very few. The trends are favorable for the domestics. Simply a result of a lot of hard work ... Read More
Basically, the quality of all the manufacturers is so close now, you have to look at styling, features, performance and most recently fuel economy to make your picks. If that were true, then GM and Ford wouldn't be practically going out of business. Initial Quality Surveys are nice, but just sit in any Honda or Toyota and then in a Ford or Chevy and there's a pretty obvious difference in quality, ... Read More
I think your comment was in reference to the 80's and 90's. JD Powers 2008 Initial Quality Study shows Ford and Chevrolet worse than four Asian nameplates but better than nine Asian nameplates. Among the worst of all nameplates is the Toyota Scion. The US manufacturers have definitely arrived on the quality front. Basically, the quality of all the manufacturers is so close now, you have to look at styling, features, ... Read More

athletic bloated Who cares? This is why american manufacturers are going down the drain. Because they have goals of being "athletic" versus making a good quality vehicle.
The Traverse looks athletic? Are you on one? I've seen one in person and they look bloated.
I have often said that if it is something I can draw, it probably isn't any good. My stick people are sometimes indistinguishable. I remember a drawing assignment in the second grade where we were asked to draw a picture of a school bus. I recall that it looked exactly like the Flex. Only it was yellow. Needless to say, I'd be picking the athletic looking Traverse....on looks alone regardless of ... Read More
Back in the good old days when Ford and Chevy faced off for profits and bragging rights, it was Mustang vs. Camaro. And did the world ever tire of that endless battle of axles and pushrods? Well, here we are again. Ford vs. Chevy. This time, however, it isn't about meatheads with muscle; it's about moms with soccer balls. 2009 Chevy Traverse LT2 vs. 2009 Ford Flex Limited

They do NOT handle better, the GC had some of the worst powertrains on the market, and it's not cross-overs. The GC also has a huge turning circle and a floaty ride/loose handling. This particular crossover is entirely too bloated and ugly. The CX-9 is what a crossover should be, although it doesn't have the most cargo space, it makes the most sense.
The pictures of it look pretty but if it's the twin of the Buick Enclave then yikes - it's a HUGE beast! I was out 'window shopping" yesterday and was looking at an Enclave. I felt like I was walking up to a bus! I know it's a probably a visual illusion, but that Enclave seemed bigger than my sister in law's Chrysler Town and Country. I'm casually searching for an ... People choose crossovers because of their styling and performance. Many (myself included) find minivans unattractive because of their odd proportions. Most of the high-end crossovers such as the Cadillac SRX handle much better than the minivans do. They provide near-sport sedan handling with a lot more storage space. You can also get them with a V8. Not everyone needs the practicality of a minivan. Good for GM for responding to the ... Read More
I agree with you about the pointlessness of crossovers. I am in the market for a vehicle with 3rd row capability and looked at a number of crossovers and found none of them acceptable or competitive with minivans for storage capacity or for accessibility to the 3rd row. Minivans aren't sexy... but crossovers and SUVs aren't either. We have pretty well settled on Toyota Sienna for our new vehicle. We looked ... Read More
Cross-overs seem to me to be an oxymoron. Since 2000 I have driven Dodge Grand Caravans for my work in medical sales. I don't understand the negative conotation to minivans. You cannot beat them for practicality. They have more interior space, get better mileage, handle better, have better visibility, and in some you can get all-wheel drive, and they ride better. I have driven many cross-overs and have yet to drive ... Read More
It is the fourth (!) vehicle built from GM's three-row crossover collection of parts, known to GM and car wonks as Lambda. It is functionally identical to the '09 versions of the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook. It has the same V6 engine. It has the same six-speed automatic transmission. It seats the same number of people. And it returns the same miles per gallon. Read more and post ... Read More
