Review

Bought this TB used with 30,000 miles. Have had nothing but good luck with it. I beat the hell out of this car (muddin and taking my toys out) and still have had zero problems with it (knock on wood). The I6 is an awesome engine, can hardly feel any difference when towing. The 4X4 is mountain goat strong - go anywhere. Comfortable for long trips, even to sleep in for a few days. Massive amounts of interior storage. All in all a good truck. Traded in from a Nissan Xterra - this is on par with an Xterra. Just a whole lot cheaper due to GMs crap resale value. Ground clearance stinks however, had to put a 3" lift on it - althought 98% will never leave pavement - still good offroad

Favorite Features

Strong 4X4, comfortable, solid frame, can handle its own off road, plenty of power - both top and low end. Great in the snow/ice and mud. Fuel economy not bad for a larger SUV, even towing or in 4X4.

Suggested Improvements

Higher ground clearance. Cute-utes have higher ground clearance than this does. More options are needed - KC lights anyone?

I bought the car new and discovered the driver side window worked very slow. Dealer replaced motor three times and worked on it on at least 10 visits. Never was fixed! Transmission went out at 70000 miles. Car was never driven hard and perfectly maintained. Numerous problems with emission air motors to the tune of $200 a pop. Had to replace the drivers side hub assembly, (bad bearing), $350. Oil gauge stopped working at 85000 miles. Change oil light very difficult to reset. Rubber seal on back doors had to be re glued twice. Engine runs very well with no problems, have used nothing but synthetic oil for life of car. Radio lighting goes on and off. No Low Fan control for AC or heat.

Favorite Features

Comfortable to drive and ride in. Dual temperature controls.

Suggested Improvements

Difficult to change head lamps and parking lights. Get rid of or improve the change engine oil light.

Change the shocks, they come with street car shocks. When I bought my 04 it did not handle will, Brian the service manager, sent me over to a front in shop and they put on new truck style shocks for 4WD units ($500.00) man what a change, had a better ride, no more lean around corners, no rolling from side to side when changing lanes, also my CHP friend had a lager Chev SUV he also changed out the shocks, big improvement to his ride. I have 98,900 mile on mine. I would buy another one, but please tell the people at GM wake up guys and put better shocks on from the factor..

Favorite Features

Lot of space for my camping trips. I do a lot of water sports in remote areas, Nat'l parks and Canada. its never let me down.

Suggested Improvements

Better Shocks from the factory

I am happy with the Trailblazer, it's wonderful for road trips even though gas mileage is an issue. My complaint is the instrument panel failure at 45,000 miles and no help from GM or the dealership, and from what I have read on the Internet this is a common problem with this year of TB's. It will be my last GM product.

Really like the Trailblazer. Fun to drive. Never had an issue - mechanically... Can pull/trailer but uses some gas. Had an S-10 Blazer and wanted to "upgrade." Liked the S-10 Blazer's gas mileage better even when towing... Back seats on the Trailblazer only lay down if you pull fronts seats all the way up... S-10 didn't have to adjust the front seats... Should have kept the s-10 blazer... if you find one, get it... Trailblazer? Dime a dozen. Find one with low miles - you'll be happy. Plenty of storage room in the back - it's an suv.

Favorite Features

Cloth seats are really nice. Leather steering wheel. Big tires... Looks good.

Suggested Improvements

Back seats don't lay down unless front seats are pulled all the way up...

Review

After a long search, purchased the 2004 TrailBlazer for its carring capacity and its towing capacity. Very comfortable to drive on city streets and highway. It tends to be very noisy when driven fast. Very good value if maintenance is kept up.

Favorite Features

I like both interior and exterior, radio, heater, and air conditioner. Like three sets of seat belts in rear seat. Interior seats are comfortable

Suggested Improvements

Improve milage.

I've had my TB for four months now, and I'm pretty happy with it. I average 13-15 miles in combined city/highway driving. The car drives ok for a truck, but I feel like the handling is very rubbery (compared to my F150). It's more than OK for normal driving, though. And it's spacious enough to handle all my normal cargo for weekend trips and my dog (German Sheppard) has plenty of space in the back. It's a good car, really.

Favorite Features

Picks up really good. Spacious interior. Nice exterior.

Suggested Improvements

Poor gas mileage

Review

Just bought this truck 2 weeks ago, so I can only speak to the reliability during that time. So far, so good. I do know the dash was replaced before I bought it, so that timebomb is taken care of. As to gas mileage, I'm getting on average of 22 mpg highway and 15 city. Comparable to my F150. Love the handling. Snow and ice don't make me nervous anymore. This thing is a rock! I'd buy a new one tomorrow if I could. Much better than the Explorer, and I'm usually a diehard Ford freak. The stereo and DVD are just icing. Love the straight 6.

Favorite Features

Dual climate control, DVD. Mountain goat 4X4. Comfortable seats with head clearance. Plenty of power. 3rd row seating

Suggested Improvements

Make running boards standard equipment.

We have had our TB for 4 years and have had very little wrong with it. Some issues in the beginning, but has been great since (knock on wood). We average 17 in the city and 21+ on the highway. For a big 4x4 with a big interior it is a great buy. We plan on driving it till it stops.

Favorite Features

Mileage for a vehicle of this type. Exterior design. Rugged feel. Comfortable cross country vehicle. Great visability. Very responsive engine.

Suggested Improvements

Interior details are old fashioned. Could have better looking leather for the seating material.

Review

Four and a half years later, still going strong. Pick up from a stop is acceptable and very impressive acceleration in the higher RPM range. Front leather seats have very little side support during turns. Ride is smooth and confortable but road feel in the steering is lacking. In 4 1/2 years the problems have been: Right front wheel bearing went bad, replaced hub and bearing, wire harness at right headlight melted, a new pig tail was installed, memory for driver 2 with all its settings are lost then reappear the next time the vehicle is used, stopped at a traffic light, engine cuts off and the check gauges light comes on, engine will restart fine and the warning light goes off. Lots of ghosts.

Favorite Features

Bose stereo system, steering wheel controls, smooth engine response with the L6 engine

Suggested Improvements

Fit and finish of exterior body panels is poor, ilumination is needed in the glove box, under the hood and down low where the cigar lighter/accs plug in is located, better quality leather on front seats and improved side support, higher head room on units with a sunroof.
