2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS Rwd 4dr SUV (4.2L 6cyl 4A)
Review
At 6'7" tall, vehicles with sufficient legroom are impossible to find. Thanks to Edmunds spec. page I was able to compare before heading out to dealerships. Trailblazer has more front seat legroom than my wife's Tahoe. Reliabilty I've experienced with my late model Chevy's is on a par with previously owned Toyotas and Mazdas.
Favorite Features
Floor shifter, towing capacity, front seat legroom.

My Trailblazer LT is probably the best quality vehicle I have owned. It is blessed with a V8 which provides smooth acceleration and response. It has a quiet, luxury ride. I love the way it handles. A medium size SUV with 7 passenger capacity....and room for luggage to boot. I haven't found anything to complain about to date. Accessories abound with XM radio, DVD player, and On-star. I especially like the fold-down seats in the second row that allows EASY entrance to the third row of seats.
Favorite Features
The 8 cylinder engine is smoothe! No straining engine noise when you want to get out and pass on the highway. Wireless BOSE headphones for the DVD player allowed my grand daughter to enjoy videos on the eight hour trip without bothering the other six in the SUV.
Suggested Improvements
I don't have any at this time.
So far, so good!

I really enjoy this vehicle...The fuel economy hopefully will rise a little as I break her in..I also hope that I am one of the winners of the "Build- quality lottery" that happens across the automotive assembly industry spectrum,r egardless of the manufacturer or brand name. I can't wait for some lake-effect snow to go out cruising in my new Trailblazer!
Favorite Features
Too many to list, but it has lots, as it is a fairly well equipped LT..Power under the hood, and plenty on the inside too!!!!
Suggested Improvements
Gas mileage.

This SUV is overpriced, and, in my opinion, is one of the most uncomfortable vehicles I have ever been in as a passenger. The seatbelts are crap, and it takes about five minutes to get them to work properly. It is fair (in terms of comfort) when you are the driver. The interior is junk. And, it is worth about half the price I paid for it, and I got the GM discount.
Favorite Features
The interest rate I got when I purchased it.
Suggested Improvements
Seatbelts in front. Interior is very cheap looking. The back looks like a hearse.

Just turned 5,000 miles. Close to zero defects. TB is fun to drive compared to our minivan. Front seating is comfortable and the ride is good, but it really rolls a lot when hitting bumpy corners. Maybe all SUV's do that. Haven't tried the 4WD yet. Nice to be able to pull into a parking space and not scrape on the barrier or curb. Definitely like better than a passenger car. Mileage running about 17 mpg as advertised in the city, but at least that weight provides some safety (as do the side airbags).
Favorite Features
This is our plain Jane vehicle that gets me to work and the kids to their friends. Its functional, but still fun to drive.
Suggested Improvements
Would like left and right pulls for tailgate. Basic steering wheel seems cheap and like it belongs on another car. The AT lever moves too far from P to D. The AT lever also seems cheap with a sharp edge where the button is. DRL seems more like headlights.

I use my Trailblazer primarily for my business. It's great driving and easy to get around. I went smaller with the Trailblazer from a Dodge Ram. It's gas intake is easier on the pocketbook.
Favorite Features
Dual tempature control, backseat temperature control
Suggested Improvements
Make the seat adjustment not so easy to damage. The 'plastic' doesn't work wonders

I spent several months looking at toyota pathfinder and nissan sentra. I am over six feet and found in both cars the seats bottoms too small and did not support me comfortably. The nissan requires premium fuel to get maximum horsepower. I just about quit looking for a comfortable suv 4x4. In desperation I decided to look at Chevy Trailblazer. Did not really want to given history of Chevy reliability for many of its cars. Bought it at Performance Chevy(great dealer and price). Mileage: 13-15 in city and 19-24 highway with reg gas. I get 16 mpg with mix.No problems except one sequeak. Torque on low speeds is somewhat weak but great pickup at higher speeds.
Favorite Features
Comfortable seats, decent radio, onstar, ride is decent for suv based on truck design, ability to adjust electronic functions.
Suggested Improvements
More torque at lower speeds without loss of mpg, better mpg in city [at least it uses reg and not premium], does have a little sway on rough road but not bad and much better than my old bronco II. Since it is high off ground it does have some low blind spots--watch out for small cars.

engine and transmission don't seem to tie together. The truck revs way to freely.

I've had 3 TrailBlazers since they were restyled in 2002. This 2004 2wd TrailBlazer LT is the best ever. The 4.2L engine w/3.42 rear gets great fuel mileage on the highway ... 21+ mpg. That's really good since most of my driving is highway. The seats are comfortable, and I have not been back to the dealership since I bought it. I love this TrailBlazer, and may keep it another year and get a 2006 model.
Favorite Features
I like the Onstar hands free calling. I also forward my email into Onstar so I can take care of email business while driving to my next contact.
Suggested Improvements
I'd like to see the interior overhead lamps moved to the center roof console, for better lighting of the console area.
