Too Many Problems
Vehicle
2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS Rwd 4dr SUV (4.2L 6cyl 4A)
Review
The Trailblazer has many of the features I was looking for in a SUV. Plenty of room, comfortable ride and tons of engine power. But all the problems I've had with this vehicle outweigh the positives. I've had problems with the electrical systems, several problems with trim and rubber moldings just falling off for no reason, engine acting up. Nothing major, just a lot of inconveniences. I will not be buying another TrailBlazer.
Favorite Features
Plenty of passenger room, lots of acceleration and power, comfortable ride
Suggested Improvements
Basically just a better overall build. Putting time and thought into the little things makes a good vehicle a great vehicle.

This SUV stinks

My wife and I bought this new and within three months it was in the shop for a loud noise in the engine compartment. After four tries the body shop guy drove it and found the problem. Part of the inside body kit was not put on right at facotry. Not long after that problem was fixed this piece of junk started stalling out on my wife at 60mph. Six times to the dealership, couldn't find problem, I suggested throttle body and sensors. Finally problem fixed when the throttle body and mass air flow sensor got replaced. Will not buy another Chevy.
Favorite Features
Room.
Suggested Improvements
Better quality, listen to customer regarding problem and stop finding ways around lemon laws.

Love my TrailBlazer but...

I love the way my gray SUV changes colors depending on what it is parked next to and time of day. It can be green one minute then brown or black or purple. Just park it next to a large building of the color desired and voila, it becomes that color! If you have ever seen the Nascar # 24 at night, you will see what I mean. I guess GM and Dupont got together on this color so as to give the public a "new" feature to toy with. Now for the bad news. It drinks more fuel than a V-8 ! Had I known this I would have bought a V- 8 for the extra power and torque that. Granted my wife drives it daily on a round trip to work of less than 3 miles a day, but almost zero traffic and few stops. This makes for 9 to 11 mpg!

Needs improvement
Vehicle
2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4WD 4dr SUV (4.2L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Had problems with mine. Wheel wells kept falling down, trim around doors fell off several times, transfer case had to be rebuilt at 33,000. Vibration in drive train transferred to rattle under dash that caused me to dump the thing. I couldn't stand being in it when the rattle/vibration started. Never buy one again, ever. Recommend not buy!
Favorite Features
Nice room, good power from motor. Good towing.
Suggested Improvements
Fix weather stripping so it doesn't fall out. Fix wheel well liners so they don't fall. Poor fit and finish. Poorly shifting transfer case, very rough when going into low range.
A lot of car for the money

Well equipped for a base model. A good value if you are going to keep it for 5 years plus. Lots of room. Lots of power. Very reliable
Favorite Features
Powerful 4.2L 6cyl
Suggested Improvements
Minor things like door seals that fall off, and cheap plastic switches that break take away from an otherwise excellent vehicle

Good offroad vehicle
Vehicle
2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4WD 4dr SUV (4.2L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Trips include rough offroad and long distance events. Performed well. Problems with clunky second gear shift after four wheel driving. Also, cruise control fails after. Reason unknown but re-enters after battery disconnect for 30 min.
Favorite Features
Off road and icy four wheel driving to ski or fishing.
Suggested Improvements
Transmission clunky on occasion after 4 wheel driving. Fuel mileage for straight six engine.

A True Performer

2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT 4WD 4dr SUV (4.2L 6cyl 4A)
Review
I have had my TrailBlazer for two years now and I haven't had any problems which is surprising as I got the fully loaded version with all the extras except for the DVD and navigation. I thought I would be willing to put up with some problems for the price but I haven't had one! My first scheduled maintenance service was at 25,000 miles and only cost me $66. I love the oil life monitor that comes with the onboard computer, because I do not beat on the vehicle. I've only had to change the oil three times in 25,000 miles. And I do get 15.1 miles city and 17 mpg on the highway because I keep it waxed with nufinish and use the cruise control. I have towed to near its rated capacity with four people.
Favorite Features
Looks. Towing capacity. Low cost maintenance. Plenty of power
Suggested Improvements
A little soft for off roading. Put in skid plates and wider tires for off roading.

This truck is a vast improvement over the 2001 GMC Jimmy I traded in. The engine is smooth, quiet, and strong. The ride is firm and comfortable, even on long trips.
Favorite Features
Dual AC controls, interior lighting.
Suggested Improvements
Compass/thermometer is no longer standard, even on base LT model.

Smooth Truck

Review
I bought this TrailBlazer used and spoke to the original owner before purchasing. He traded my TrailBlazer for a new '06 TrailBlazer. He stated he would not own anything else. Well, now I know what he means. I cannot get over the comfort and the extra room I have verses my Explorer. The ride is so smooth especially for a 4x4. My Ford Explorer is also a 4x4 and is ridged and rough in its ride. I also love the extra leg room. My husband and son are really tall guys and they are cramped in the Explorer, they are loving the TrailBlazer! This is the best truck I have ever owned.
Favorite Features
Smooth ride, extra room and style.
Suggested Improvements
None really

GM through and through

I needed a car that I could drive and get some of my money back after a couple of years. This car stickered at $36000 new and I thought I got a good deal with all the rebates. Here it is two years later and it is only worth $14000 in good condition. Ridiculous! Last American car I will ever own. The interior looks like a first grader made it in a class project. All the weather stripping around the doors is falling off, the radio has been replaced twice( I don't know why I even bothered the thing stunk to begin with), the bumper covers are warping, funky smell from the vents and the cheap chrome sticker that they call a grill is is peeling off. Volkswagon Touareg here I come.
Favorite Features
Can't think of anything
Suggested Improvements
GM needs to hire somebody who actually took a class or two in design to come up with a better quality product. Who would buy this when they can get a nicer, better equiped, more reliable, higher quality import for less money and have it actually be worth something after a few years?
