Re: How long will a good Tracker last? [tbird_s_y]
Written by: inuvik on Jul 24, 2006 4:00:12 PM
I have a 2001 4dr with the 2.0 4 cylinder with the automatic transmission. It has over 115K on it. To answer your first question their is no reason why a Tracker should not give you 200K with regular maintenance. The 2.0 doesn't have too much power with the automatic and anything over 65 MPH is pushing it. But it does deliver great fuel mileage. I have regularly gotten over 30 ... Read More

I have a 2001 Tracker. For about a month now I have had to fight with it to get the key to turn all the way off so I can remove the key. I tried my other key and it does the same thing. Sometimes I even have to use a pair of pliers to turn it hard enough to get the key out. I finally took it to the Chevy ... Read More

I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker. I have a pulley on my engine that is wabbling quite a bit when the Tracker is at idle. It wont do it until the car is warmed up (bout 10 minutes) and when the throttle cable is pushed for more power the wabble goes away. It is coming from the pully just below the water pump (is very clear that this is the wabbling ... Read More

Suggestions for tires?
Written by: ckyeung on Nov 27, 2004 11:39:50 PM
I had a 2001 Tracker LT 4x4 for about 4 years with 51,000 miles. I bought it new then and had no problems so far, except with 2 tire punctures (one was caused by a broken beer bottle, and the other by a piece of metal chip.) Just plain unlucky. I still have the original tires, but I am now thinking about getting some new tires, preferably with good snow traction, ... Read More

I purchased my 2001 Tracker in March. I now have 11,000 miles with no problems. I added an after market remote car starter w/key less entry (Autopage brand). I'm thinking about adding a sun roof, fog lamps and front brush guard. Has anyone added any accessories? If so, what? Does anyone have fog lamps and find them useful? I had considered the KIA Sportage when I first started looking for a ... Read More

HI Y'ALL 1999 Chevy Tracker...2.0 L engine With 50,000 km (30,000 miles) on the odometer, I did my own engine oil change for the very first time. Recognizing that there is not much financial advantage even with synthetic oil, it does save a lot of time driving to & from the dealer...or so I thought! That oil filter was a MAJOR pain. Hey, trifivenomad. I am a student at UT here in Knoxville. I have a 2000 Suzuki Vitara 4dr 4wd fully loaded which is pretty much the same car as the Tracker except for some cosmetics. I just did not like the grille and headlights on the Tracker at all. Also, while Suzuki changed the name of this SUV to Vitara, Chevy left the Geo-oriented Tracker label on their vehicles. I am interested in buying a 2001 Tracker. My local Chevy dealer in Knoxville, TN is the best. I have no concerns about getting help from the service department, if needed. I am concerned about wasting money on an SUV that will be a long-term disappointment. I want to buy something that will last and will be fun to drive. Hi Everyone, Six months ago I bought a 2000 Tracker 4WD. I like it very much, but I had to take it to the shop. It was making an awful rattling noise from the engine. They told me it was the tension-pulley bearings making the noise and needed replaced. While I was getting a rental car, a man told me about his 2001 Chevy Impala that was in the shop also. ... WWWOOOOWWWW I just drove 2001 Tracker LT. What a beauty! Seems like the shimming pulling and mishandling is gone. Drives much better than Zukini GV. Believe me ! Go to Chevy for test drive. Could be those 16"wheels are not all that good for it.
