Review of the 2001 Chevrolet Tracker

  • With its cheap plastic interior, unrefined ride, and gawky styling, the Tracker just doesn't compare with more modern mini utes like Ford's Escape and Toyota's RAV4.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Surprisingly roomy passenger accommodations, good value.

  • Cons

    Weak V6, meager cargo space.

  • What's New for 2001

Now into its third year of the current bodystyle, the Tracker gets a new V6 and a new LT trim package on four-door models. Air conditioning, AM/FM cassette stereo, and child seat tether anchors are now standard on all models. The base 1.6-liter engine has been dropped in favor of the more powerful 127-horsepower 2.0-liter that is now standard on all two-door and base four-door models.

My wife loves it!

Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet Tracker LT 2WD 4dr SUV (2.5L 6cyl 4A)

I bought our two tone black & Grey Tracker a little under a year now and it has amazed all that ride in it! i purchased way below edmunds private party price with low miles for a 2001 model (60,000) and the look and feel of the vehicle is amazing. My wife always comments on how she feels like its the little-big car! I'm always borrowing the tracker from her to use the cargo space it provides...Foldable rear seats and high roof work for me!

Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet Tracker LT 2WD 4dr SUV (2.5L 6cyl 4A)

50 miles from home in a 2001 4 Cyc 2.0L 4 door. Purchased less than 2 months ago. The engine fell apart from the inside, cloging the oil pump and totaling the motor.

This car has been very reliable. However, it is very compact. There is no leg space and not much room for cargo. The interior is made with very economical plastic. Not a good car for family travel. The seats are very uncomfortable. But it ran fairly well.
