Add one more Tahoe to the list. 2009 Tahoe Z71 drivers door lock stopped working a few weeks ago (42k miles). Based on reviewing this forum, I haven't complained yet since I'm expecting all my other ones to fail soon and am not too keen on fixing something that is so obviously an issue with the part GM has supplied.
I have a 2009 LTZ Tahoe and have the same electric door lock issue. My Tahoe as less than 50K miles and it cost more than 50K and to have such a basic function as electric locks to be malfunctioning and not to be covered or a recall! I went to my local Chevy dealer and was told it would be approximately $300 per door. I have two lemon doors my ... Read More
Well I guess you can add my Tahoe LTZ to the list. It started out with my passenger side door lock then within a week the back driver side door went out. Now it's been almost 4 weeks and the other 2 door locks have gone out. Like others out there with this same problem I too have been loyal to GMC, Chevy and Cadillac, but it's getting real hard to ... This seems to be a major epidemic with Chevy's door lock actuators... I bought a 2009 Tahoe and we love our truck. Like the commercial Chevy runs deep in our family. We have bought a 2006 Trailblazer, 2009 Malibu, and my wife's baby the Tahoe. We're very disappointed with Chevy lately, how does two actuators go bad the same time. I know parts are supposed to be replaced on vehicles but ... Read More
My 09 Tahoe was in specialty auto electric shop for a couple of months. Picked it up last week and have about 500 miles with no problems whatsoever. They found several modules that were the wrong part number - onstar (VCIM), radio, rear seat radio/module and the instrument panel cluster. They updated all the other modules in the GMLAN system. They took the time to methodically go thru every module and ... Read More
I am having the same issues on my 08 Tahoe. I took it to the dealer for service a few weeks ago and they were unable to replicate. The problems stopped for a while, however they started again this morning with the door locks going up and down and the console flashing on and off. My wife is taking it to the dealer again as I am writing this post. I've ... Read More
I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe with the same cycling problems that are listed throughout this forum. Has a vehicle ever been fixed? I brought my Tahoe into my local dealership and they put some electical grease on the wiring, strapped the wires together...basically put a band-aide on the problem. They did print me out a service bulletin about this very thing that GM issued: Document ID: 2665828 #08-07-30-021F: Loss of ... Read More
I have this exact same problem with my 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Cycling gages, intermittent chimes, transmission etc. Did you get the problem solved? I have had my vehicle in the shop probably 8 times or so in the last 7 months for this issue and it is not yet resolved. It is going back into the shop tonight. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!
Update: Car was in the Chevy dealer shop for over a week. They test drove the Tahoe until would act up again and it finally did for the tech. They couldn't see any DTCs stored even after it went into a total malfunction episode - chimes ringing, warning lights illuminating, service messages in the DIC, door locks cycling multiple time and then finally ending with car in limp mode. So the ... Read More
My 09 Tahoe LTZ driver and front passenger door locks have failed, also my passenger side rearview mirror has quit working. I haven't been to the dealership about this problem and don't intend on wasting my time until I receive a reply from GM. From the looks of this forum and others, I would think GM would own up to their responsiblity to the consumer and fix these parts with no ... Read More
Thanks TR BBB - I took the Tahoe back in to Chevy on Monday and this time I left it with them. Haven't heard anything yet but I did give the service man who wrote up my repair ticket a copy of the TSB you referred to. I had found a really good copy at http://www.dixie-electric.com/tsb/TSB_198.pdf It's very detailed and I'm sure the techs at Chevy will run their diagnostics by ... Read More

I have a 2009 Tahoe with an intermittent but complex problem with the electrical system. I can go a couple of days driving short trips with no problems but then after driving a few days the problem rears itself. First the lights (intererior and exterior) will blink for a second and then the door locks will go up and down sometimes just once other times multiple times. Then the information center ... I just purchased a 2009 Chevy Tahoe LTZ and noticed that the rear door locks are not working from either the key fob or the console. And based on all these complaints on this thread, why is there not a recall on this?!? This is a huge concern for me because: 1. I have 2 children (2 yrs and 7 months) and need to be able to get them in and ... Read More

I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe that has door lock problems too. It is just out of warranty and the only door that automatically unlocks now is the drivers door. I have several other Chevy trucks that all work fine, but the problem is with my newest one. This is a spendy repair and its not just one door its 3 out of 4! This is really a pain on a ... Read More
I own a 2009 Chevy Tahoe and have been having what appear to be electrical issues for almost two years. It started with my navigation system. While driving, the screen would go black and it would shut off/on. I had the system replaced twice, but the issues continued. Then, other strange issues began occurring randomly: 1) warning lights flash on and off while driving; 2) outside temperature reading sticks at 55 ... Read More
In August 2009, I bought a certified used 2007 Tahoe LTZ from Eatontown Chevrolet in NJ. The car has been nothing but a major nuisance for my family. The dealer provided no mats or headsets for the factory DVD, only one set of keys, and no manual. The tires had major dry rot, which they were unwilling to change at sale. So we bought a set and the dealer didn't even ... Read More
My wife and I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe and both rear door lock actuators quit working during the same week. Arp10, I can relate to your frustrations with your 2009 Suburban. We have a 2009 Suburban that my wife drives for her practice (Veterinarian). We purchased this vehicle in July 2009, which was an upgrade from our '03 Tahoe. Late last Fall my wife was driving to work on the beltway (70 mph) & the Suburban just shut down on her. No power steering or brakes. Onstar said there was nothing ... Read More
I just replaced the battery for the 4th time since 2009. The batteries usually only last about 3 months in this vehicle for some unknown reason and they are all Brand New batteries. Sands Chevrolet in Glendale Arizona told me that it would not be covered under any type of warranty or this "recall" due to the mileage being over the limit. I then contacted GM (Corporate office) and was directed to the "District Specialty Department". Hi, I have a 2004 Suburban Z71 with 53,000 Miles. The car is in great shape and I love it. The only problem that the car had was the bearings, this happened close to 40,000 miles (out of waranty). The GM changed the bearings and I asked them to pay part of it as this problem should not happen so soon. GM paid for the labor and I did pay the ... Read More
I have been looking at a Tahoe after a friend of mine got a good deal last August. She bought a new 2008 LTZ (white) with pretty much everything on you can imagine. MSRP was like $50,250 and they got employee pricing for $38k something. I started looking at a 2009 LT2 with Luxury, Entertainment, Heavy Duty Trailering Packages, and 2nd Row Bucket seats. MSRP has it at $50,585. I was ... Read More

At one time they had my truck for two weeks but no ... Read More
Just my own opinion but why in the hell would you go buy any GM vehicle at the moment? People in their plants are waiting for pink slips. You think they do their best work during these days? I can assure you that some of the problems in GM vehicles are not due to normal manufacturing problems. The other thing is that you cannot have your vehicle fixed under warranty. This ... Read More
I'm amazed that Chevy dealers aren't pushing their products harder. GM is near bankruptcy and the dealers will go right down with them. Personally, I'd do whatever it took to sell every SUV on my lot before gas prices spike again...
