Chevrolet Suburban 2004 - Time to change to a newer one

Re: Chevrolet Suburban 2004 - Time to change to a newer one? [mo_shade_tree]

Hi - first post here at Edmunds. We have a 02 Tahoe that I bought in 04, taken it to Israel, back to Texas, to The Netherlands and now back to here in Wash, DC. Mileage is almost at 90k and it runs great. Besides normal oil changes, I've replaced the intermediate steering shaft (that was driving me crazy in Israel when turning), replaced the brake pads/all discs and ... Read More...

Chevy Tahoe Transmission Problems

chevy junk

Carefull the host of this sight might get mad at what you say. Being that all things need to be looked at in different ways. (PUKE) Oh and we should not bash the lieing dealers that cover for these junk mobiles saying things like "I"ll call GM myself and find out why you had to put 5 transmissions and 4 steering shafts in your car". I cant even go back to the dealer I bought ... Read More...

Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe Towing Questions

2004 Tahoe Trailer Wiring Problems

I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, which apparently has a wiring harness problem. I have two trailers, both with new wiring harnesses and light assemblies. ALL Tahoe lights work fine without a trailer connected. Trailers have good grounds. The Tahoe plug at the back tests “good” on all connections UNTIL the trailer is plugged in. Then the lights go crazy. The Tahoe ground ... Read More...

Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe AC and Climate Control Questions

Re: HELP [nflguy]

2004 LT, I have been buying "little used" 2 - 3 years old cars before as I am kind of a mechanic and fixing cars for me is easy unless it is a computer issue or something like that. After years saving money I finally was able to consider buying a new vehicle and it sounded so good not needing to work on it. It cost almost $40 000 to get my hands on this Tahoe LT and then all but ... Read More...

Chevrolet Suburban 2004 - Time to change to a newer one?

Hi, I have a 2004 Suburban Z71 with 53,000 Miles. The car is in great shape and I love it. The only problem that the car had was the bearings, this happened close to 40,000 miles (out of waranty). The GM changed the bearings and I asked them to pay part of it as this problem should not happen so soon. GM paid for the labor and I did pay the parts (that was expensive too). Now ... Read More...

2004 Tahoe electrical problems.

DIC message

I have a 2004 chevy tahoe with 48K. Today the service 4 wheel drive light came on. I read the manual and it said to shut it off. Restart and see if it comes back. It came back and the red light came on. Yellow lights flash and then goes back to the red. Does anyone know if this it the switch on the dash or the Encoder motor sensor. Read More...

Chevy 2007 Tahoe emergency flasher kill battery

Re: Chevy 2007 Tahoe [spidey3]

I don't think anyone ever suggested that the battery would go dead after 20 minutes of playing the radio. What many of the manufacturers have done, is set their body management computers to turn off power when the key is turned off....after some 'reasonable' period of time. So somebody then defines 'reasonable', and picked whatever they picked (and I'm taking ... Read More...

Chevy Tahoe Maintenance and Repair

Re: Clunk in the steering [02tahoez71]

Had the same clunking noise in the steering in my 2001 Tahoe. I took it in in 2004 to be looked at by the dealership, only to be told they could not duplicate the problem. My husband, at the time, was far too timid to speak up to them. They kept making me feel like I was just another stupid woman who doesn't know anything. I finally stormed down there and spoke to the Service ... Read More...

GM Speedometer lawsuit filed

Speedometer Problem

I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe with 87000 miles on it. Problem is Internal Gauge Cluster defect. In other words, the speedometer doesn't work. Chevy/GM admits that certain VINs had defective clusters installed (including mine) yet they will not recall them and/or replace them unless the vehicle has less then 70000 miles on it. The fact that this is a defective part ... Read More...

Speedomter Letter

I don't know if this has been listed somewhere previously but I just wanted to pass some info along. I have an 04 Tahoe and I found the "speedometer letter" that a lot of people were talking about. The vehicles in my letter that are covered are, QUOTE from letter; "If this condition occurs on your 2003 or 2004 model year Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV or Escalade ... Read More...
