Fuel pump??

I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe. Had for about 5yrs, runs great except for when you start it and press on gas pedal it wont go any faster then 5miles an hour no matter how hard you step on gas. I have a 2007 Chevy Suburban LT ( loaded) X2w drive at 86,500 miles, my transmission completely went out no drive gears only reverse. I was still under warranty, my dealer told me that the problem was fixed. the dealer took out the burnt gears and clutch and repair the bad parts in the transmission. I just opened a case (71-944-296379) with Chevrolet. Basically they said my vehicle is TOO OLD. It doesn't matter that there was a catastrophic metal failure on a vehicle with only 74K miles (or as John - the person I spoke with at Chevrolet customer service - said " a metal rubbing on fluid problem"). I asked if 74K miles was all a transmission should last and he said that it should last longer. Even out of warranty I would think Chevy would acknowledge the problem and at least help out on the cost. $3000 for a remanufactured transmission with a 3 year or 100K mile warranty. tom213: I have bug deflectors on both my 2002 Tahoe and 2000 Suburban. In both cases, they are made by Lund, and are the "Interceptor" model. I assume that you are taking about the current style Tahoe. Years 2000-2004. You can lower the front suspension some by removing tension on the torsion bars. You will have to replace the rear springs to lower the rear suspension. You will also probably have to replace the rear shock absorbers if your Tahoe has the manual self-leveling shocks or the autoride shocks. Most Tahoes have the manual self-leveling shocks. The ... Information for anyone who wants to replace the manual self-leveling rear shock absorbers on their 2000-2004 Tahoe/Yukon with conventional shock absorbers. I have 2002 Tahoe. I replaced the original equipment shock absorbers with Bilstein shock absorbers. When I replaced just the shock absorbers, the rear ride height of my vehicle dropped approximately 1 1/2 inches. I picked up my 2003 Tahoe last Friday, after the "Leak Specialist" did their professional work. They were not sure where the leak originated from, so they went and caulked the entire area around the inside of the sunroof (any and all openings) with what looks like a clear, waterproof sealant. My 2000 Tahoe came with the same tires stock, not exactly the bet tires (putting it nicely) as far as im concerned, at 12,000 miles i had to replace the tires. Also Yes we had a 1996 Tahoe and that body style 1995-1999 had terrible steering, very lose and you were always moving the wheel, however i think Chevy REALLY improved in the new body style.

Are you guys really having that much trouble driving these things? The Tahoe has less wheelbase, length, and turning circle than your average minivan. I wouldn't hold your breath on getting quadrasteer. The suburban has another 15" of wheelbase under it and that's still rather short by trucks standards. Mine did it as many other owners had the same problem. I got the fix for it on a post on Delphi and did it, and it fixed the problem. In January 2000, Chevrolet issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TBS) which addressed the problem of water intrusion into the rear compartment. The bulletin number is: 000866001. Check to see if this bulletin applies to your 1999 Tahoe.

Clunking in the steering appeared when the remake of the Tahoe/Yukon was introduced. I would think that GM had rid themselves of all the clunky shafts. It appears not. Maybe its a numbers game or design flaw as some have had to change the shaft more than once. The Firestone LEs, that were specified as "all-terrains" in all of the paperwork when I ordered the truck, but are really "all-Seasons". My truck is 1 year old this month. What a great vehicle. Only had one problem, a rattle in the steering wheel. The upper steering shaft assy had to be replaced. It took the dealer less than 1 hour to fix. Thats it. At about 8000 miles had a high quality synthetic motor oil change. Oh boy! What a difference!
