Written by: cartrucknut on Jan 9, 2005 5:19:43 PM
The local Chevy dealer cannot find the correct part # for the following vehicle. I looking for OEM flares that were found on a limited qty of Z-71 Tahoe (old body style). My 99 Tahoe is w/o flares and I want to add the OEM flares found on the 99 Z-71. The Chevy parts counter manager stated that if I could provide him with the VIN of a 1999 Z-71 Tahoe, ... Read More

RE: Downsizing a Tahoe
Written by: aa555zz on Dec 31, 2003 7:25:00 AM
I assume that you are taking about the current style Tahoe. Years 2000-2004. You can lower the front suspension some by removing tension on the torsion bars. You will have to replace the rear springs to lower the rear suspension. You will also probably have to replace the rear shock absorbers if your Tahoe has the manual self-leveling shocks or the autoride shocks. Most Tahoes have the manual self-leveling shocks. The ... Second Row Seating Question - Help?
Written by: victor29 on Aug 20, 2003 11:36:05 AM
We have a 1999 Tahoe and recently scoured every possibility in the newer market for ones with 3rd row seating and compared them endlessly. In spite of a company discount + 4500 cash back + GM card, which put the price of a new well-equipped 2003 down to around $28k, we decided to still hold off. Even when we do get one, I want to keep the '99 (after four years ... Read More

My 2000 Tahoe came with the same tires stock, not exactly the bet tires (putting it nicely) as far as im concerned, at 12,000 miles i had to replace the tires. Also Yes we had a 1996 Tahoe and that body style 1995-1999 had terrible steering, very lose and you were always moving the wheel, however i think Chevy REALLY improved in the new body style.

slippage in rear end
Written by: kiki_0699 on Nov 25, 2002 3:49:08 PM
I just purchased a 1999 Tahoe. From the first week I drove it. I felt a slight slipping felling from the rear end. Maybe a gear slipping? Chevy service manager said it was normal and that it was a floating rear end and was the differential changing. Another mechanic told me that it could be the yolk in the drive shaft sticking and was pushing the engine forward. An yone else ... Read More

Clunking in the steering appeared when the remake of the Tahoe/Yukon was introduced. I would think that GM had rid themselves of all the clunky shafts. It appears not. Maybe its a numbers game or design flaw as some have had to change the shaft more than once. Here is the service bulletin on it...note the date and though it says for recirculating ball type found on 4x4's, it also applies ... Read More
