My Chevy Tahoe LT 4-WD (HI & LO) won't engage. The lights blink on the 4-HI/LO switches when pressed but, the light won't stay on steady to indicate that it has engaged properly. I have tried to engage it by driving SLOW, FROM stopped to 5, 10, 15, 20 mph, IN NEUTRAL, etc with no success. It HAS functioned properly in the past with the last time being March 2010 in ... Hi, I've been having problems when starting my 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe (147000 miles). This doesn't happen all of the time, but when it does upon turning the ignition there is a loud POOF that comes from the engine, with rough idling, and then turns off (then white smoke). I would wait a couple of seconds and turn the ignition again and it turn over fine. It happens with cold/hot starts, and ... Read More
Hello; I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe with 4WD and the 5.7-liter with the CSFI system. Getting a “check engine” light that is coming back with a P0300, Multi-port misfiring error code. I am having a problem getting this fixed and I am not able to pass the NJ DMV inspection. I can feel the rough idle when sitting waiting at a light or stop sign, but feels fine during regular ... I was wondering the same thing. I owned a 1997 Chevy Cheyenne truck that had a similar space under the hood but it had an actual storage bin there. Does anyone know if you can buy something similar from Chevy to put in that space on the Tahoe?
No no you got me all wrong I'm not asking for buy/sell offers. I'm asking if anyone thinks that it is still possible to get a 1997, 1998, or 1999 Two Door Chevy Tahoe with a 6.5L Turbo Diesel with less than 100,000? Thanks :)
Am I looking for something impossible?

I've fell in love and there is just about nothing anybody can say that will make me break my infatuation with the Chevy Two Door Tahoe. I love the way it looks, as a mean yet not to big but not to small truck. I like the SUV body style because I'll be able to use it more because I don't need a truck bed everyday. Well there's the story now ... Read More
I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe. I was recently trouble-shooting a problem with my wiring to my trailer (the problem I was trouble-shooting was all of the lights on the trailer were dead). I tracked the resolution to this problem being a corroded ground terminal in the flat 4 prong trailer adaptor. After fixing this, all the trailer lights worked fine, except the blinkers. When I unplugged the trailer lights, to ... Read More

I assume that you are taking about the current style Tahoe. Years 2000-2004. You can lower the front suspension some by removing tension on the torsion bars. You will have to replace the rear springs to lower the rear suspension. You will also probably have to replace the rear shock absorbers if your Tahoe has the manual self-leveling shocks or the autoride shocks. Most Tahoes have the manual self-leveling shocks. The ... jlstutz23-1997 Tahoe transmission problem

I had a '98 Chevy truck, replaced the battery and the next day I hauled a big heavy load, half lift of drywall. After that I noticed that the trans did the same thing. When I disconnected the battery the trucks memory was erased, this includes driving conditions. The trans remembered the load and anticipated it with the shifts 1-2 was particularly hard. Try disconnecting the battery for five minutes and ... Read More
