I had the same issue on my 2003 Suburban at 42K in fall 2005. I was going 45 MPH and the speedo was at 120 MPH, as well the fuel gage bounced between half-full and empty. Cost me $414.38 to replace the cluster because it was out of 36K warranty. Flash forward 2 years to 4 Oct 07, I get a letter from GM on my husband's 2004 Silverado stating the cluster on his truck is now warrantied ... Read More...

thanks. yeah, it appears that I will have to have a new one. good that it is still under warranty. I have given the go ahead to the dealership to replace it with a new one since they are footing the bill. Read More...

Sounds like you may have driven a slightly damaged transmission to the point that it can't be repaired, and you need a new one. I had a 96 that was not shifting into 2nd gear (and also later found out reverse was out). Drove it less than a mile, and then had it towed to a transmission shop. Has anyone had a problem with a 20005 Chevy Suburban with the transmission needing to be replaced? I drove about 200 miles from home this past weekend and when I got to my destination vehicle started idilling real high and would not go over 50 and still then I could tell that it was something with the transmission. Just found this from a Google search: Is anyone else having this issu? I have an '05 Tahoe. I hear a low sounding front end rattle/squeak that is heard when going on any uneven roads or bumps. I also had the steering column fixed at about 22K miles. Rear liftgate handle snapped off at about the same time (both warranty repairs). Other than that no problems. I just found out mine was one of the few 1500 SLT, 4WD, models sold without Stabilitrak (ESC). Figures that GM would sticker a vehicle at $48K and forget a key safety feature. That's interesting. Was any more specific info provided? I have the same thing, a 2005 pruchased late that year for a song. If they're referring to Auto Ride and/or 4WD/AWD stuff, neither of those apply to mine. I did have a front suspension cross member replaced under warranty when I took it in a few months ago (about 33K miles) for the intermediate steering column ... Read More...

The new Consumer Reports just came out and my 2005 Yukon XL/ Chevy Suburban dropped significantly to "well below average" for: 1) Suspension 2) Drive System I bought mine at a Red Tag Sales 12/05 so I am several months behind everyone else who has seen these problems.
