start by unhooking both battery terminals for a few hours, then check if problem still persists. check all wiring. check all fuses. check for any open wires. check all bulbs, interior map light bulbs, door bulbs, all interior bulbs. check circuit breaker fuse. check auxilary battery/wiring relay. check intrument panel dimmer switch. check accessory power relay. check all grounds/straps. make sure all these things are in order, all relays plugged in ... Start with making sure your battery, alternator, are up to snuff....and the main wiring is making a tight connection with no corrosion on the terminals. Battery and alternator can be check for free at auto parts superstores, look for one that does load testing.

2003 Chevy Suburban POSSESSED!
Written by: rayce_hdl on Jul 18, 2010 9:10:20 PM
I have a 2003 Chevy suburban I bought used about a year ago. I love it, but little things have gone wrong here and there, nothing major. However, recently some of the electrical components have started doing haywire. First, the dome light will not shut off if you have in on the automatic setting (to come on when doors open and shut off when they close). You have to turn them ... Read More

GM Speedometer lawsuit filed
Written by: dan139 on Jul 16, 2008 4:33:00 PM
The speedometer on my 2003 Chevy Suburban Z71 says I'm going 120 m.p.h. when stopped. I brought it to the dealer and they said $600.00 to replace the cluster.I did not want to spend another 600.00 on a 50,000.00 truck after making several other costly repairs. Shortly after that I received a recall notice from GM but I was over the mileage. I think it is rediculous that they will not ... Read More

I'm having the exact same problem with a 2003 GMC Yukon XL. Fuel pump failed at 24k miiles and was replaced about a year ago under warranty. This problem started about 2 months ago (just as the weather warmed up). Had a real problem with this last week on vacation. Two GMC dealerships have not been able to recreate or diagnose the problem.

Under carriage noise from 2003 Chevy Suburban
Written by: drivenuts on Apr 17, 2005 5:44:11 PM
Here's a new one for you!. About two months ago I noticed a "rattelling/squeeking" sound comming from under the front carriage of my 2003 suburban> Sounded like the "chirping" you hear from the brakes when worn but woulddissapear after 1/10th of a mile or so. No specific reason or conditions it would appear under but it was loud and very noticable. Had brakes, new tires, and front end redone- no luck! ... Read More

I've got the same problem w/my 2004! I realized the "chirping" noise at about 33k miles. Seems to be coming from somewhere up front most of the time. I've heard it come from the rear as well. Recently the noise has been prolonged for about 2-3 seconds and has gotten louder. I thought maybe it was the wheels when in motion, but figured it wasn't when I heard the noise numerous ... Tahoe Locking Rear Diff. / StabiliTrak

Others with more experience will no doubt explain this choice better. I think this is an apples and oranges comparison. Have owned several suburbans - all with locking rear- which I bought to help me with the light Maryland snows. This rear helps us to maintain traction in mud or snow. StabiliTrak on the other hand will help us with keeping the car under control as we tend to force our ... Read More

Nose
Written by: jgmilberg on Nov 17, 2002 9:05:49 PM
The 2004 Yukon/XL/Tahoe/Suburban will all get the new pickup nose. 2003 models remain the same as the 2002. GMC and Chevy have different noses, and what you see on the '03 GMC Sierra is what will be on the '04 Yukon/XL, just like the '04 Tahoe/suburban will have the same nose as the '03 Silverado. Hope that helps.
