Re: Clicking/Grinding noise while moving. 1999 chevy suburban [crash_1991]

Thanks for the tip! I'll check that out. Would a loose caliper affect my braking? I just had the master cylinder replaced and the whole brake system bled, but I still feel that the braking is mushy, for lack of a better term. This is definitely something I'll investigate. Thanks!

Clicking/Grinding noise while moving. 1999 chevy suburban
Written by: ddoherty on Jan 27, 2012 4:10:49 PM
Hey guys, I have a 1999 lifted 'Burban which has developed a clicking/grinding noise when moving. It sounds like it's coming from the middle of the vehicle. I notice it only when moving, and the noise occurs concurrently with the speed of the vehicle. When idling it is absent, same when revving the engine in park. It sounds like metal/metal clicking or grinding. I recently had the rear-end replaced due to ... Read More

OK, I'll shoot. I have dual zones(front/rear) in my 1999 Suburban. For some odd reason, the front/driver zone blows warm while the rear is just peachy. Any idea, guys? I just was not fun driving home a week ago from our trout fishing trip in Bennett Springs, MO. The heat index was about 115f.

I have the same problem in a 99 Suburban. Two dealers said it was the yoke and inserting grease was the only solution--it sounds like a major engineering flaw and GM will not recall! They also said a new yoke would not fix it. Do you know anything else?

1999 C2500 Suburban Brake Problems
Written by: wojtkun on Sep 15, 2002 9:48:37 PM
We are trying to find a solution to the rapid decay of the front disc brakes on our 1999 C2500 Suburban. Evidently the problem came when Chevy switched from asbestos brakes to a softer shoe. We change the brakes out every 8,000 to 10,000 miles. This is CRAZY! We executed the Safety Bulletin from Chevy and are getting another 2k per brake set, but this still is not what we expect. ... Clunking in the steering appeared when the remake of the Tahoe/Yukon was introduced. I would think that GM had rid themselves of all the clunky shafts. It appears not. Maybe its a numbers game or design flaw as some have had to change the shaft more than once. Here is the service bulletin on it...note the date and though it says for recirculating ball type found on 4x4's, it also applies ... Read More
