I love towing with this truck as I have the 8.1 with the Allison Transmission. I did have a problem with wind noise that was taken care of at the dealership by re-sealing around the windsheild. Fuel economy is poor, 11 empty and 7 to 8 towing 8500lb trailer in hilly conditions. I think I will go with the Duramax the next time around.

At 15000 miles I have yet to see any problems. The truck seems to be getting better and better. The duramax is wonderfully quiet and the Alison transmission is shifting seamlessly. At first I was worried about all the new technology but it is working like a champ. Plenty of interior room. Loads of power and quite fast too.

The 2500HD is head and shoulders above the 1500 in capabilities. Towing is much improved with the 6.6 diesel as is fuel economy unloaded (currently at 18.3 mpg all unloaded, I track all fuel use, miles and hours). Build quality has improved, with a better "feel" to the interior. The information center has been replaced with a truely informative data center. You can track all vehicle use, business vehicle use and personal vehicle use, by selecting options. Diesel sound is noticable but in no way objectionable. From the inside, you can't tell it's a diesel.
Favorite Features
Drive train, the duramax is the best diesel engine out there today. Power Fold-in mirrors are great for those off road trips where the road is too close to the trees.
Suggested Improvements
Include boost guage and exhaust pyrometer. Add more maintenance reminders to the vehicle data center

I bought this vehicle new in August and now have 6500 miles on it. It has been back into the dealership 5 times for repairs to the Power Mirrors and Windows. The Power Door locks also had to be replaced. The 6.0 Liter V8 motor on this vehicle is very quiet but seems very sluggish though this may be due to the transmission gearing. There is some wind noise when driving down the road at highway speeds. This vehicle has Anti-lock brakes but on one occassion during a panic stop they locked down.
Favorite Features
On-Star for the peace of mind Automatic Lights, Excellent Receiver in the stereo system.
Suggested Improvements
GM is close but this vehicle build quality could be better. Doors on the vehicle feel flimsy. There is no door ajar which I feel is a huge safety issue
Is this what Chevy has to offer?

I am a First time Chevy owner, ex ford guy. I am thinking I made a mistake with this purchased truck on Mon. evening and it was in the shop Tues. night with a bad tranny. Never had a problem with my Fords.
