This vehicle is totally unreliable due to excessive and severe electrical/computer problems that Chevrolet cannot fix. The Duramax diesel is not as economical as my Ford 7.3l Diesel. The salesperson lied when he said the Duramax diesel will not "stink" like a Ford. It does!!!!
Favorite Features
Exterior design and trim.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Crew Cab LT 4WD LB (6.0L 8cyl 4A)

I have owned my chevy for almost four months now. It has spent EIGHT days in the shop already. It started with the "service 4 wheel drive" light. Then it started locking the doors all the time, even when it was suppose to unlock them. The dealership has replaced switchs, The TCCM, and two encoder motors. The second motor was the redesigned one. They are now telling me that a re-redesigned encoder motor is available only through district reps. In other words they may or may not have a part that will fix the problem. DON'T BUY THIS TRUCK!
Favorite Features
Quiet and Powerful Duramax, Bright headlamps, and foglamps

Learn how to make 4x4 work. LT trim and all should have lighted visor mirrors. Where did the larger center console go from the '02. Not plush leather like in the '02 Z71 Tahoe like I am driving now because my truck is in the shop for the SEVENTH time.
Excellent Truck

This truck is the best. I can't say one bad thing about it. I own 5 Chevys and have never had one single problem with any of them. GM is superior to all other vehcile manufactures. My Silverado is great. I advise all looking for a new truck to head to your local Chevy dealer and take one for a spin. You'll love it!
Favorite Features
Every single feature. This truck lives up to its Chevrolet roots.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Extended Cab LT Rwd LB (6.0L 8cyl 4A)

I pull a medium sized (10,000# dry weight) 5th-wheel RV, often in mountain and hilly terrain. This truck is absolutely perfect for this application. The Duramax diesel with the Allison transmission is the best matched "power pulling" combination I've seen outside of the big rigs. Quiet and strong, the truck is ALWAYS in the right gear for the situation. The downhill performance is almost spooky, since the Allison automagically downshifts to save your brakes on long downhill runs. The LT interior(leather seating, dual zone independent climate control, etc.) is every bit as plush as any luxury car, and makes long trips downright pleasant.
Favorite Features
Power train management, especially in heavy towing applications.
Suggested Improvements
The avalanche style front end is UGLY!

This is my first 2500HD, I've had Blazers, Z71's, and a 02 Tahoe. This is by far the badass. I love every minute i'm in it. When I'm not in it I'm thinking about it. It's truly the Hammer

I have enjoyed my truck very much and it has not had 1 problem yet. Mine has been modified with a performance module, exhaust system and a air induction system. My corrected mileage as I have 305x70 tires is 19.5 to 20 mpg in the city and about 22-23 mpg on the highway. This is not bad from a truck that is running over 400 hp.
Favorite Features
The engine and the ride as the LT has very comfortable seats as well as the adjustable seat heater. The rear view mirrors that go to into the 2nd position when I shift into reverse.
Suggested Improvements
The ability to lock the tailgate would be nice. Other than that I have no problems.

"Service 4WD" warning constantly comes on. 4WD now doesn't work at all. The truck has already spent 10 days in service departments (I've only owned it for 3 months). The power windows failed, the radio stopped working, and the A/C went out. They've been able to fix everything but the 4WD/Transfer case problems. First it was a "software update". Then it was a "control module". Then it was an "encoder motor". They finally admitted they can't fix it. To make things worse, GM isn't backing it up. This is absolutely the worst truck I've ever owned and it only has 4,000 miles on it.
Favorite Features
XM radio, Duramax/Allison combo (great power and great tranny pulling and braking capability), leather seats.
Suggested Improvements
Reliability of this vehicle is terrible. Love the truck, hate all the problems. I think I'm going to a Dodge or Ford.
