Most solid vehicle I have owned
Vehicle
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Crew Cab LT 4WD SB (6.0L 8cyl 4A)
Review
This has been almost trouble free. The one area of trouble was taken care of by GM with an extended warrenty of 200,000 miles on the injectors. Getting an overall mileage of 17.5mpg, with some tanks going into the 20 + when driving all e-way, even at a steady 75+ MPH. The diesel pulling power is great. I towed 18,000 lbs from Sarasota Fl. to Phila. Pa. and averaged 12.2 mpg.
Favorite Features
Truck tracks very good on the road. Tire wear is minimal, as it holds alignment well. Seats are great for long trips.
Suggested Improvements
The turning radius is terrible. I sometimes need to back up 2-3 times to park in tigkt spots. Places where my Yukon XL goes in in one pass. Whindshield wipers need more glass pressure. Fuel filter changes are a pain, and could be solved with a larger capacity.

Great Truck
Vehicle
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Crew Cab LS 4WD LB (6.0L 8cyl 5M)
Review
Bought used with minor frame damage and had it fixed. Runs & handles great. Can't believe the great gas mileage for such a heavy truck and the power when you need it. Already ran truck on straight, clean vegetable oil and will now set up to use waste vegetable oil. Love this truck!
Favorite Features
Power, 4WD, functionality, size (not too big)
Suggested Improvements
I would say update interior, but that was done in newer models.

I bought his truck 7 months ago with only 32,000 miles on it. I love it! It runs great, and the cab is the biggest out there. It is also a very comfortable ride. The gas mileage isn't so great though. Overall a great truck.

Comfort and the amount of room

I have driven this truck for over a year now, and I have put over 35000 miles on it. Great truck to drive and also very fun. I have pulled over 16000 lbs in a gooseneck and it did perfect. The transmission is EXCELENT. Saves the brakes when hauling. With a K&N air filter I get about 13-16 GPM, with 265/75/R16, and a 1.5" front end lift it looks great.

I added a $300 chip and get 20mpg on the road and 16mpg around town. it's amazing for a truck that large to have as much power, confort and gas economy. I will put it up next to a Ford or Dodge any day.

Duramax'd Diesel with the full Banks Kit
Vehicle
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Crew Cab LT 4WD LB (6.0L 8cyl 4A)
Review
This truck is plenty powerful on its own with the Duramax Diesel. Tons of torque, a great ride and built tougher than any other truck out there. Lots of room inside. I had the full Banks system added over time (chip, exhaust, Six-Gun and Speed Loader) and this truck is faster, stronger and better than I could have imagined. I get a combined 18MPG and I put the miles on this beast in all the worst driving conditions. My acceleration is amazing. You CANNOT go wrong with the Duramax diesel and the Alison transmission. It will stand up to anything you throw at it.
Favorite Features
Bullet-proof engine, tons of torque, On Star. Lots of room, able to haul anything.
Suggested Improvements
A better sound system would be appreciated.
2500HD trailer towing capacity
Vehicle
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Crew Cab LT 4WD SB (6.0L 8cyl 4A)
Review
Towing a nominal 10000 lb 5th wheel trailer is a breeze - the truck is working hard but it is entirely capable to do so. The only problem after 20000 miles is that the rear disc brakes failed (bad rotors), but the dealer made good on the repairs.
Favorite Features
5 liter engine combined with the 4.15 axle and HD substructure makes this an excellent trailer towing truck, in a standard body size.
Suggested Improvements
Improve the day-to-day gas mileage above 12 mpg. Sure, 9 to 9 mpg when towing a 10000 lb trailer is normal, but do something for day-to-day usage.
2500HD LT 4WD Crew LB 6.0L
Vehicle
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Crew Cab LT 2WD LB (6.0L 8cyl 4A)
Review
Great truck with reasonable fuel economy given the size and extensive capabilities. Large 4-wheel disc brakes operate smoothly. Average of 13MPG in mixed driving. Able to handle off-road and deep snow with ease (after upgrading tires to 265/75-16 BFG All-Terrain T/A KO's), and still cruise on the Interstate smoothly and quietly. Crew cab great for getting small children in and out of carseats, and rear vents are a nice addition, as well as the heated/power leather front seats. The 6.0 V-8 is smooth and powerful. Fold down rear seats are a nice addition for interior hauling space. The slight styling differences of the HD nicely set it apart from it's light duty counterparts. Great Truck!
Favorite Features
Comfortable seats, excellent drivetrain, extensive space/hauling ability.
Suggested Improvements
Larger tire/wheel packages from factory. Improved fit/finish where the front bumper meets the fenders (very minor)

Electrical problems
Vehicle
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4dr Crew Cab LT 4WD SB (6.0L 8cyl 4A)
Review
Can't beat the 8.1 Allison combo for pulling and towing. Ride is rough. I had electrical problems. It would just die and fail to restart for 5 min. to 3 hrs. then run fine. Never did get it resolved.
Favorite Features
LT package is best of all brands for comfort and features. Chevy leather seat blow the competition away. Ford ride is softer but seat are lacking comfort. 8.1L and allison is awsome combo if you pull a trailer daily.
Suggested Improvements
Ride needs to be softer

My '02 Duramax has been excelent to me. It is desined to pull around 10,000 lbs with a hitch, but I have pulled 15,000 lbs with no problem. My 18' goose neck is even easier to pull even when it is full of trash about the same weight. I love it.
