I have never personally heard of anything like what you described happen. I frequent several GM boards none of which reports anything like above. If you find your dealership hard to work with on warranty issues, give GM customer service a call and they usually can refer you to another Chevy dealership in your area. OMG! I too have a 2006 Chevy 1500 w/36k miles. Recently we noticed a grinding type noise in the left front. We pulled the tire and could see gouges in the rotor. We took it to a brake shop thinking the pads just needed to be replaced and the rotors grinded down. You do have the heavy duty 1500. Also, the reason for the back to be higher is gas milage and no you should not remove the blocks as this could change your drive shaft angle which could cause vibration under hard acceleration. And as far as torking down your torsion bars, thi will not stiffen the ride much at all but if you go to high, the upper control arms will hit the ... Read More...

You can take the blocks out with no ill effects, other than sitting a little lower if you really load it up. I took the same blocks out of my 02 Z71 4X4 ext cab with no ill effects. Just need the std 2wd u-bolts (2 in. shorter). Levels the truck out and makes the bed more accessible.
