Total Quality Best All Around Silverado
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Crew Cab Z71 4WD SB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
For the money, the ride, the quality, and joy of driving it the Chevrolet Silverado is at the top. The crew cab 1500 covers all my needs. I love the alloy 17" wheels, and the auto locking differential is a plus. I have driven every full size on the market. For overall price and quality I had to go with the Chevy and I made the right decision
Favorite Features
Crew Cab. Locking rear (automatic). Driver Information Center with steering wheel controls. Alloy wheels look good

This is the first truck we have purchased in twenty years. The ride and comfort is incredible. The support the seats give my back allows me to drive without discomfort. We would like to add that prior to purchasing this vehicle we rented Ford, Chevy, Dodge Ram, 2 wheel and four wheel drives, before making a decision. Our choice is obvious as to load carrying, ride comfort, and gas mileage. Chevrolet is the only vehicle that offers OnStar. My suggestion to anyone that that is about to purchase a vehicle go to Enterprise Rentals they have 2 wheel and 4 wheel new trucks. Rent each one drive at least 600 miles then put a 1500 pound load on each vehicle & see for yourself before you buy.
Favorite Features
The seats help your lower back better than all the other trucks we tested. All digital dash for gas, oil, and mileage usage. Excellent gas mileage hauling at 80 miles per hour with 1500 pounds 18.5 miles per gallon.
Suggested Improvements
Sell for less.

I was going to buy an F-150, Toyota, or Nissan full size. When I began to compare I could not get over the size, comfort and fuel economy of the Silverado compared to the others. Best in fuel economy. I use the truck to commute and do small hauls. I average 18.5 hotshoting and 21 mpg on the road. I bought Chevy 20" rims and put a color coded bed cover and does it look great. All others could not touch the economy, not even Toyota. The wind and road noise in the others was annoying. We use the truck more than the car. The 4.8 has incredible power.
Favorite Features
Quiet, smooth, quality, economy.
Suggested Improvements
This truck needs a sun roof to really touch it off. Also, put the XM and OnStar antenna somewhere else out of sight.

My 1st new truck - I tried them all. Loved the Titan & Ford - but they are so much money. Tundra was a little low on power for 04, Dodge was unreliable. Chevy fit the bill nicely. Lots of goodies for the best price. Truck runs & looks good with 5.3 & tow pkge Z71. Mileage is OK.
Favorite Features
Autotrac 4wd. Kicks in instantly when tires slip on snow.
Suggested Improvements
Interior is boring. See Ford FX4 - the interior is great! Floor shift!

This vehicle rides and handles much better then any of the competion's vehicles I road tested! I think Chev. outdid themselves in this model truck. I will buy another GM truck. It handles great on the road, has a quick response, and can pull down a house.
Favorite Features
Ride and handling. Engine power

The truck has been everything it was said to be by the dealer. Smooth, quiet, not so much truck-like as competitors. Comfortable. So far I am very satisfied.
Favorite Features
Comfortable leather interior
Suggested Improvements
Upscale audio and navigation would be nice as options-but again, this is a truck not a sedan.

I have owned a number of Chevy shortboxes over the years & they only seem to get better with each year. Would like to see more options on the two doors though. Like bigger engines & leather buckets. I plow snow with my truck & it works like a 3/4 ton.
Favorite Features
My favorite features are the limited slip rear end, the tight turning radius, & the push button 4 wheel drive
Suggested Improvements
Bigger motors, leather interiors, GPS, XM radio, auto start, heated seats, fancy wheels

Review
So far the truck has been very enjoyable and has done what was asked of it, hauling, towing, trips, carrying passengers. I do hope that a true hybrid is in the works as I'll keep this one until a higher mileage big truck is available.
Favorite Features
Front seats. Adjustable and comfortable.
Suggested Improvements
I like the styling of the 2001 better-- cleaner front grill without the frown. The 6 1/2' bed is too short yet the 8' w/extra cab too long--try 7. Need true hybrid. Being in the trade need incorporated shell/side doors and lockable weather proof back (like the old Helm's Bakery Trucks with 01 look.

After owning two other new Chevrolet Trucks, this one seems to be the best of the three. Its power (4.8 Liter) rivals that of my previous' 97 5.7 Liter. Although the Cab is stripped down, it still has plenty of room and the seats are very comfortable. All control are laid out in easy reach. Plenty of head and hip room (I'm 6',2"). The long bed has plenty of room for plywood and longer items. I would deffinitely reccommend this truck to anyone needing a simple work truck.
Favorite Features
Strong engine, even though its a 4.8
Suggested Improvements
No CD Player. No Fold Down Center Seat.

I have owned several different make's of trucks (Ford,Dodge and Toyota) and I am very impressed with the Silverado's performance, style and handling. It is a great vehicle in all areas including price. My last truck was a S10 ZR-2 but the Silverado is a much better vehicle and gets the same gas mileage as the 4.3 V6 in my S10. Can not say enough good things about this vehicle! This is THE best truck I have ever owned! PS my other truck I still own is a Toyota!
Favorite Features
Like the Z-71 off road package, tow package and the 5.3 V8 performance. Comfortable seats.
Suggested Improvements
Need lumbar option on standard seats. Return disc brakes to the rear!
