a tough truck - 16-17 mpg ongoing, problems : brakes abs system repeatedly , Poor design causes the abs to light up on the dash which so far has always beed associated with the wheel hubs area. Many owners I've talked with have had same problem. these brakes will fail. brake pads have to be modified when installed new - if not - they'll wear unevenly . design problem again . brake shops aware of this . other wise a great truck
Favorite Features
a good truck for the money ! roomy and easy to adjust steering and reach dash panel
Suggested Improvements
brake system abs - brake pad fit - abs sensor connections at hub -

This is my 4th Chevy Truck. This year I was considering another make, but after looking at the options, seeing the prices, I went with what I knew best, the Chevy. The employee discout was a great incentive too. I looked at everything but a Dodge (never a fan) and was real close to getting a Ford, but when it came down to it, I went with what has always been good to me. So far I have been very satified, and even got some nice comments from friends and neighbors. When I go looking for my next truck, I can assure you, Chevy will be the first I look at.

The view in the rearview mirror is slighly obstructed by the Homelink/front map light box. Doesn't affect safety, but cuts off the top of the view. Hard to get used to.

In general I like this truck, however the intake manifold gasket blew after 30000 miles, the chrome was pealing from the grill after 35000 miles the suspension bushings are squeaking even after they are lubricated.Drivers seat is getting soft on the outside. I hope GM will make improvements on its next model.
Favorite Features
Handling is great, easy to see out.
Suggested Improvements
Change outsite mirror so you can see rear bumper, improve quality of material, install a few screws here and there, the plastic is fine but not enough.

Paid $12K in 1998 for a 4 cyl Ranger, $13K in an all day marathon deal in 2003 for a 4 cyl Frontier and $14K come and get it deal for a 2005 V6 Silvarado W/T. All had air and manual transission. Absolutely no comparison. The Chevy is full size and can comfortably cruise down the interstate with enough power to get around in traffic. Its fun to drive and its nimble for its size. Yes, its dated and gets about 3 mpg less, but as a comparable cost if not cheaper alternative to a compact 4 cyl work pickup, you just can't beat it. The classic truck feel worked out over the last 50 yrs just puts a smile in your face. Grandpa got it right.

This is my 2nd new chevy truck and by my best vehicle ive driven to date. The ride is solid and suspension is smooth interior niose is minimal the aluminum block 5300 vortec really moves this vehicle quite nicely, the acceleration is that of a sports car almost Vette like and makes it very fun to drive. interior room in the extra cab is enough for 6 adults with front bench seat and makes it perfect for a family vehicle with plenty of room to haul the grocerys or plywood for that home improvement project the fit and finish seem to be good also no rattles or squeeks Ive had no problems what so ever in the 6 mo. ive had this truck Overall Im very satisfied with my Silverado Ext Cab

What a looker this truck is with the 20" chrome wheels, maroon, extended cab, side rails and step bars. WOW - I was a GMC fan until I saw this in the showroom and had to have it. The deals are just too awesome and the vehicle is fabulous. I got the 3.23 rear end with the 5.3 and it goes 52 mph at 1,100 RPM - mileage TBD Now the bad side, the 20" tires and wheels ride terribly. If you get the HD, it is exacerbated even more. Seems almost like a roller coaster ride over even the most minor bumps. The dealer said it would go away in 500 miles, but I certainly have my doubts. Any others experiencing the same problem with this wheel upgrade package? Strongly recommend the vehicle

Looks. The ride is quiet except for the item mentioned above. Good layout and great visibility. The stereo is weak.

Drab interior - spark it up a bit, a little chrome or something!

The ride is smooth, and seating is great. My back doesn't hurt on long drives. It's powerful for what I do. It has better gas mileage than my trade-in did, and it was a 2004 Frontier. The steering is light and quick. Large mirrors enable me to see other traffic with less blind spots. It's a great truck. I really like it.
Favorite Features
The new style front end and the daylight driving lights. The AM/FM cassette and DVD player combo
Suggested Improvements
Larger tires. The cruise control stalk should be smoother at the end. It has a sharp edge and is annoying when you engage the cruise control

I use my truck on my job. I work as an inspector on new pipeline construction. Many times I have to use the 4 wheel drive and it performs excellent. I also pull a 30' travel trailer and it handles it with no problem. I especially like the "Auto 4 wheel drive" feature. When I drive up to some mud and stream crossings...I think "4WD or not?" I just press the "Auto 4WD" and it takes care of the guess work. So far I am very, very happy with it!

I really like the full 4 doors. The back seat carries all my code books and my printer for my laptop.

The only problem that I've found is the location of the cup holders on the floor. To assure that you've placed a drink in it, you have to take your eyes off the road for just a second. This could be a safety problem.

Solid and dependable. I've checked out other trucks. I usually drive 30,000 miles a year, and use my truck for my mobile office and pull a horse trailer maybe 3,000 miles a year. The imports just do not have the comfort, ride, and power to satisfy my needs. This truck looks and feels like a truck and not a plastic replica.

I purchased this truck for $14,500 brand new. I wanted a cheap, reliable truck - it's what I got! Im still breaking it in. Pretty nightmarish fuel mileage (about 12-13 in city - my Explorer does better!) The ride is a lot rougher then I could have imagined on a 2005. It's great fun to drive. I love the new car smell. The message center is smart and not annoying! I love the overall utility of this truck! I have to tell you no matter how popular this truck is, it's still an eye-catcher! Im a Ford guy - but I thought I'd give Chevy a shot on this one. Overall, I'm really happy with the purchase!

A lot of room under the hood. You could shove a small horse in the empty space around the Vortec 4300 4.3 V6. The A/C is awesome, very quick to supercool your blood. I love the grille - and the auto sensor lights just look cool. The auto airbag sensor isnt bad either - just hope it always works!.
Suggested Improvements
12 mpg in city? Sticker says 16. I ask, which city? Make this ride a little less thirsty. Put a drop down armrest on the center of that bench.
