Review
Great ride, comfortable interior, and good gas mileage, but I don't like the new 3.42 gears. Would like my old 3.73's back.
Favorite Features
Ride and midrange power. 3000RPM to 4000RPM she really pulls.
Suggested Improvements
Lower rearend gearing option with the 5.3L

Review
Best value in the industry. I looked at all the full size extended cab models out there, and the Chevrolet Silverado was the best buy for the price. I have owned several GM products and all of them were extremely reliable over the long haul. By that I mean they were still reliable with over 100,000 miles. The imports I have had were not.
Favorite Features
My favorite feature is that you can buy the base truck & then fix it up to suit your taste, not the manufacturers guess of what you want.

On the test drive I noticed a jolting feeling in the front end. Salesman said no problem, probably shocks and it is under warranty. Come to find out they have had several other like trucks in for the same thing. They have changed shocks, balanced tires, even replaced springs. On amedium smooth roads it is a constant irritation. Aaround curves it is a challenge to keep on the road;. At the right speed on a long bridge it is a fight to keep the front-end from bouncing out of control. now they (GM) say it is normal for this truck to ride like that. That is straight from GMC. Also the A/C has a constant gurgling sound. GM said that was normal also.
Favorite Features
Cab has plenty of room front and back seats.
Suggested Improvements
Fix the front end and the A/C
Z71 4 dr SB Review

OK, I was looking at a Tundra for the longest time. My wife said the Chevy was more comfortable. She's right. I love this truck. The Auto 4x4 is a great feature. The daytime headlights can be turned off now. There is an additional tunable radio in the back for the passengers that can be indepentently tuned to regular radio stations including the XM radio (optional). 2 Headphone jacks on the rear console next to additional heat/ac vents.
Favorite Features
Comfort. It is very easy to drive and even more fun when you put a cold air intake and throttle body spacer. XM Radio. OnStar and the cell phone integrated into the truck are awesome options. Cell phone is more powerful than handhelds and works in more remote areas better.
Suggested Improvements
I wont say mileage. You dont buy a full size truck for the mileage. The front passenger doesnt have well placed handles to help get in. The driver doesn't have any except the steering wheel.
Good Truck made Better

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab LT 4WD SB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
I owned a 1999 Silverado LT ext. cab, and found it to be comfortable and dependable. The 2005 has several improvements, mainly dual AC controls, On Star, satelite radio, redundant radio controls, 4th door, but basically the same truck. Turning radius is improved also. Mileage has averaged 17, good for a full sized truck. I drove a Dodge and liked the way it handled, but afraid of the mileage as I've never known anyone with a Hemi that was satisfied with aspect. New truck is quieter, more solid body. Received favorable comments on color (Sport Red Metallic) and lt. gray leather combination.
Favorite Features
Comfortable seats, love the lumbar supports. Heated seats are welcome when the snow flies. AutoTrac a must for me. Good ride for 4WD, important as I often carry bird dogs in the rear (I have a cap). Mechanically proven, no problems at all with old truck.
Suggested Improvements
I have the Heavy Duty suspension, the same as my previous truck. Tried the Z71 package, but a little too stiff over tar strips. The new truck seems "softer" than my old one for some reason, and sometimes "floats" too much over bumps. Firmer front shocks? Sunroof (tilt-up over roof) too small.

Brand new, but so far so good. Third Chevy I've owned, and the best one yet. If your looking for an off-road truck, this one will take you where you want to go.
Favorite Features
The auto trac four wheel drive system.
Suggested Improvements
Putting the 6.0 liter engine, as standard instead of the 5.3.
Better off buying a BRICK

Review
Unfortunately I decided to buy this truck not too long ago, this thing drives like a Brick floating on water.. interier is CHEAP, plastic, no design, fit for nobody really, i wouldnt want to be caught dead in this thing. i suggest to anybody looking to buy a truck, look into something else. its way over priced, and there has been no improvements comparing to past models. I guess GM is going broke for a reason!
Favorite Features
NONE, except i did get to see a nice ford truck from the outside of my window once when i was unfortunately driving down the road in my unfortunate chevy truck..
Suggested Improvements
needs a new interier design, i was dissappointed to see the same design in my over priced truck on a 1999 chevy truck..how lame is that? not to mention how much in price it has dropped in the past year ALONE! this is not a truck..this is a BRICK on 4 wheels.

Z71 Package
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab Z71 4WD LB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
The current rebates and GM Employee incentive pricing brought me back to the Chevy dealership. I brought the Z71 for about $2,000 below invoice. The power is good since I purchased the power package and the exterior trim is great. The majority of the features are great and there are numerous electronic gadets more than the other brand trucks. The satellite radio is nice extra, which GM does own XM (Great self promotion). In most reviews, the quality of the interior is lacking, which I found to be true in my case. GM needs to upgrade the interior quality and design. It was not much different than my 2000 Silverado interior. At the current price it was a worthwhile buy.
Favorite Features
Satellite Radio and numerious electronic extra features. The Z1 exterior trim is sharp and I would recommend to purchase the power package, which improves your horsepower to 310 and improves your gas mileage over the standard 5.3 V8 engine.
Suggested Improvements
The quality of the truck could be improved, especially the interior which has been been around for a very long time. It is time for GM to show some creativity.

Review
The truck really is built well! The center console is setup perfectly for a work truck, with more storage than any truck on the market. However, the seating is more luxurious and far more comfy than the Titan. The Z71 package offers up everything you would want to add-on after the purchase. This is my first new Chevy, although I had driven an 83 for awhile. Great price - Out the door for 27K, 3.99% financing, and 3K cash rebate. Super dealership with great people and a knack for customer service.
Favorite Features
Dual Climate Control with rear vents located up high so rear passengers have AC and heat on heir bodies rather than their feet. The Bose system sounds great! Seats are more comfy than the Titan and the fold down arm rests feels like a LazyBoy. Quite simply one of the most comfortrable trucks driven.
Suggested Improvements
Update the CD player - No need for a cassette in the stock player. The Bose system still sounds unbelievable!

I have owned both Dodge and Ford trucks and they just do not compare with the ride, Quality, and dependability of the Chevy. It has more romm then the competiton and the 1500 performs like a 2500. My last chevy had 275,000 miles on it. I think this truck is far better than any other truck I have ever owned.
Favorite Features
Onstar, Satelite Radio, lots of power
Suggested Improvements
A little longer bed.
