2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab Z71 4WD SB (4.8L 8cyl 4A)

Review

I've owned the Z71 for about a year and am absolutely satisfied. The ride is extremely smooth and road noise is almost non-existent. The seats are very comfortable (unlike the Ford F- 150 which felt like I was sitting on a slab of concrete). The 5.3 V8 has plenty of get-up-and-go and the mileage is 16.5 city and 19 on the highway. The heated seats are great in Minnesota winters.

Favorite Features

Interior room (head and legs) is more than ample. Very smooth ride. The exterior styling gets a lot of compliments. The Bose sound system is very impressive.

Suggested Improvements

More low-end torque would be nice, as takes a moment to get going once you hit the gas. Redesigning the folding rear seats so the rear seat headrests don't wedge into the backs of the front seats would be an improvement.

Review

Great truck and drivebility. Seat is somewhat comfortable but supportive for 10hour trips. I do recommend the LS package for it more convinient for over all comfort. Great engines 5.3 and 6.0. both deliver about the same fuel efficiency - I get 350 miles on 22 gallons. I would prefer a more efficent truck and it amazes me that all these car maker are dragging their feet on delivering these type of vehicles.

Favorite Features

Engine strength

Suggested Improvements

More diesel engines, more efficient engines. spit bench seat in the back. better brakes perhaps 2 caliper front disk bakes.

Best truck that I have ever owned. The z71 suspension gives a great ride. The climate control system much better than the previous truck I owned. There were no water leaks and no issues with the quality of the truck.

Had two Tundra's prior to this purchase, but we had a 1997 Chevy one ton prior to that we called MONSTRO. Toyota has lost their mind on haggling, we loved the Tundra but no deal, we walked out mad. We stopped by the Chevy dealer and got a heck of a deal with the employee pricing.(20k paided on a 29k truck.) So far its a good truck, and it gets better mileage than my old V6 Tundra, 17 and 22.

Favorite Features

Engine is strong, and good on gas. Good underbody.

Suggested Improvements

Interior needs upgrade. Hear a gurgle in the AC. Smooth out the ride.

Review

I have owned Fords, Dodges and a couple of different import trucks in the past, but my 2005 Chevy is the most confortable and reliable of them all. I live in a small town in Southwest Texas, in the middle of nowhere, and a dependiable vehicle is a must. With my Chevy, I have peace of mind about getting on the road, which I'm on a lot as you can tell by the milage on my truck, also after breaking my back while in the military and having four major back surguries since, the comfort is next to none. The fuel economy is, in my opinion better than Ford or Dodge. Also, down here, the OnStar feature really makes you feel secure and the XM is great.

Favorite Features

The styling is great, inside and out, but the comfort of the seating and the user frindly controls are my favorite features and the OnStar gives me peace of mind.

Suggested Improvements

A stronger rear bumper is about the only thing I would suggest.

What a truck - the Z-85 with 20" chrome wheels really sets off the dark maroon color.

Favorite Features

Exteriod looks, Z-85 package

Suggested Improvements

The interior has to be right up there with the very worst design and esthetic appeal

This is my first truck and it is great. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not lose any fuel economy when I moved into this truck from a mid size SUV. Chevy truly has made a great truck. I have had the truck going on ten months. It handles wonderfully both on and off road through out various speeds. I wish would have purchased one of these sooner.

Favorite Features

The room by far is my favorite feature. Having the crew cab I have had six adults ride comfortably. I regularly take clients out and hear complements on not only the looks, but especially on how good the ride is.

Suggested Improvements

The only suggestions I would make would be for Chevy to make the take off a little quicker and to update the dash and stereo.

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab Work Truck 4WD LB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Review

I purchased an '05 4x4, extended cab, WT, in April. I think it's a great truck. I was impressed by the standard features (e.g. dual climate control, 4 wheel ABS, etc..) It rides great on the highway...I drove it from NY to the Rocky Mountains and was never uncomforable at all...that's a lot of driving. The engine is impressive (about 300hp). It's got plenty of power and has been getting decent gas mileage (for a truck).

Favorite Features

Strong V8, exterior styling, Chevy dependability.

Suggested Improvements

I think it was cheap of Chevy not to make the center front seat fold down to a center arm rest in the WT model. You have to get the "LS" to get that. The transmission isn't the smoothest. My father's Tundra has a silky smooth transmission, but lacks the feeling of power and speed of my Chevy.

Review

Ok everyone will think I am crazy as I traded in a 1999 Corvette for this truck. However, I had a 1995 Chevy Blazer with over 150k that was my daily driver and I just fell in love with this truck when I saw it. It is loaded out with all the bells and whistles except moonroof. It gets great gas mileage for a full size truck 16 city and 19 highway. I enjoy driving it and especially like the ability to see what is ahead of you. Could use a slightly less harsh ride but overall great truck. I have had absolutely no trouble with the truck except the battery which died with less than 1000 miles

Favorite Features

The steering wheel controls for the radio and trip computer are great. I also like the xm radio but don't understand why Chevy even puts a cassette in an automobile today. The 6 disk cd should be the standard radio

Suggested Improvements

Soften the ride just slightly. I resolved by running slightly less air pressure in the rear tires.
