Chevrolet 1500 V6 Long Bed, Work Truck
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2dr Regular Cab Work Truck Rwd LB (4.3L 6cyl 5M)
Review
I purchased this truck to complete home projects which I am working on. It is a two wheel drive with a standard transmission. This truck has an excellent ride and surprising power from the V6 engine. My biggest surprise has been the 20 mpg I am averaging. I'll take the fuel efficiency over a V8 engine any day. The cab is quiet, without much wind/road noise at highway speeds. I also like the floor shifter, although it becomes awkward with three passengers. Turning radius is excellent. It is a good-looking truck as well. I would highly recommend this tuck to someone that simply needs a regular, long-bed pick up truck without all the bells and whistles.
Favorite Features
Fuel efficiency; smooth, quite ride; long-bed; design.
Suggested Improvements
The center section between the seats should fold down for a right-arm rest. I believe this feature is available on some other models.

Excellent vehicle, great price, handling. Mileage is unbelievable 20 mpg on the highway, 17.5 in the city. Built tougher than a Ford and more reliable than a Dodge. Made in the USA.
Favorite Features
Handeling, radio controls on steering, Built solid
Suggested Improvements
Extended cab- backrest should fold down or have split seats in back.

I Own two Chevrolet trucks that are used in my contracting business. The quality and dependebility Of Chevrolet trucks is better than the Toyotas and Fords that I have owned. Chevrolet's Advertisement " like a rock" is very true. I used a 1992 Silverado in my business for eleven years without requiring anything but routine maintenence.
Favorite Features
Powerful engine and comfortable interior.
Suggested Improvements
You can't improve a perfect truck.

This truck rides better than most sedans I have owned. Very quiet inside, handles like a dream w/ the four wheel steering. Excellent manuvering through parking lots and tight spaces. I would put this truck against any import.
Favorite Features
Four wheel steering, heated leather seats, XM satellite radio
Suggested Improvements
Fuel economy could be better

My 4.3 came with an automatic, a 40/20/40 cloth seat and not a whole lot else, pretty stripped down model. I got a better deal on the Chevy then any comparable Dodge or Ford. Nothing came close. I am a big man, and the truck fits me fine, handles well and is relatively easy to manuever. I had a Dodge van. The 4.3 is a far superior motor to the Dodge V6. The seats fit so much more comfortably than the ones in my wife's Explorer. Even lacking the amenities, this is a worktruck that you won't mind driving.
Favorite Features
Sharp truck. Good looking, sleek without looking like a pug dog, like other American trucks
Suggested Improvements
Less sculpting to the seats and mandatory body side molding

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Crew Cab LS 4WD SB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

I am still in AWE over the fact that a Crew Cab 4x4 w/ a 5.3L and 4.10 gears can get 15.5 MPG off the showroom floor.
Favorite Features
Incredible amount of space in the rear passenger area and easy access to all the necessary features. Gas mileage at 15.5 miles per gallon (combined city/hgwy) is fantastic.
Suggested Improvements
Seat bottom is too long for short drivers...5'7" and below.

I have had several vehicles in my 22 years of driving. This is the first V8 that I have had since I was a teenager with a Z-28. My previous vehicle was an S-10 with the 195 hp V6. It ran great, but this Silverado has a deep throaty sound when you step on it, and has plenty of power to move it down the road. Its ride is far superior to some of the cars that I have owned. You can't beat the feeling of power under your hood. You may sacrifice gas mileage, but you make up for that with the safety. My boss has a Ram 150 4wd, and brags about its power. I can almost match his power and make him steam when I tell him how much I spend in fuel each week. Much less.
Favorite Features
4wd, The ride is superior. The power of the 5.3 is quite exillerating. I also like the colour of the exterior, as well as how available dress up parts are. Bug shield, nerf bars, vent visors, etc..
Suggested Improvements
Stereo becomes distorted at higher volumes with bass settings. Larger variety of wheels, like my old S-10, with its American Racing Style wheels.
Great piece of machinery

Review
I enjoy having the power of a V8, as well as the size of my Silverado. It is very easy to operate and rides like my old Cadillac. So many changes in design and so many innovations make this the best vehicle that I have ever owned. It goes everywhere in 4wd. I am over 6 feet tall and the interior has plenty of room for me to move about. The safety features are top of the line, as well as the overall feeling af driving this truck. I treat it like I would my car, except that it is more powerfull and fun to drive.
Favorite Features
4wd, the ease of shifting into it. The comfort of knowing that it has anti- lock brakes.
Suggested Improvements
Improve the sound system, speakers distort at higher volumes. Maybe a better choice of wheels.
This ones a keeper

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Crew Cab Z71 4WD SB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
Review
One of the most comftorable trucks I have driven in years. The 5.3L has more than enough power for both work and play, and even with the off road suspension package provides a comfortable enough ride for even long road trips.
Favorite Features
Roomy cab, steering wheel mounted radio controls, and included alarm are just a start
Suggested Improvements
Offer the Bose system with all styles of the truck , and a tailgate lock. Was suprised to see this one does not have one

Getting right at 17mpg with the 5300V- 8. It should go up. I'll also change to synthetic oil in a couple thousand miles. I'm six foot and seat back so wish mirrors would extend more out so I'm not looking down side of truck. Also, the headrests are cheap. you just push them up and down, there's no release button to lock them at a set height. Dropped down from a 2500 series truck with Diesel engine, was tired of paying 15-20 cents extra a gallon of fuel. So far like the truck, first Chevy product. Rides smooth..
Favorite Features
Smooth ride and good power. Like the auto 4-wheel drive function.
Suggested Improvements
Add release buttons to headrests. Allow oustide mirrors to extend out further for better side views. Raise truck height a couple of inches. Add underseat front storage area like on Dodge trucks. Would like to see GM go to 7yr70k mile powertrain warranty.
