Took a 6000 mile trip and had no problems. Very comfortable and extremely quiet. Average milage was over 20 mpg. Ride and handling was like a car.
Favorite Features
Plenty of power, plenty of room, easy to read insterment panel. Have a folding bed cover that I can still haul any large items without having to take it off.
Suggested Improvements
Put ashtrays and lighter in a more convient position.
I would recommend this truck to anyone.

I purchased my 2003 Chevy Silverado (2DR, SWB, 2WD, Auto) at the beginning of the new model year. While I was somewhat impressed by the new styiling, I had a few doubts. Over the past months I have grown to love the look (with the addition to a few after- market accessories). The truck rides like a car, on and off road, and has the feeling of a luxury vehicle. I've never experienced any problems and Chevy has made sure that I never will. After driving every other truck out there, I would highly recommend this particular one to anybody (let me add that I have only driven Ford until this point!). Keep it up Chevy.
Favorite Features
As I mentioned before, the interior is the most comfortable, and accessable there is out there. It's like driving a $60K luxury vehicle. Handling and towing are the best in it's class (V6 Auto).
Suggested Improvements
The front end styling could use some work, along with the performance of the V6 engine and tranny. It's got the pulling power, but not enough passing power.
Great Truck

Great ride. Quiet and comfortable. Well engineered interior, although kind of cheesy. No room behind seat and no right arm rest for driver. Handling is way above average. Turning radius isn't great, but very acceptable. Cannot exceed 98 mph because of a control module governor. Overall, excellent truck. Classy exterior design. Headlamps are awesome.
Favorite Features
Stereo system, sentinel lights, cup holders, super bright headlights
Suggested Improvements
Arm rest for driver right side. More power. Higher quality interior.
Good so far!

I really like this truck so far. At 6000 mi, everything seems okay. Hopefully the piston slap problem won't come up during winter.
Favorite Features
Comfortable seats. Ford is nowhere close.
Suggested Improvements
Anti-lock brakes will falsely activate while stopping on bumpy road.

I purchased an '03 Silverado 3 days ago & already its at the shop. A vacuum assist pump is continually running making a very load noise from behind the dash. The dealer says they can't do anything & that this noise annoys their mechanics also. Numerous mechanics have complained about this noise, but Chevy corporate has done nothing. Good old American engineering! It’s been 21 years since my last Chevy & the experience is starting out like the last one (bad!). Also, had a paint problem upon delivery. If Chevy keeps this up there will be many unemployed Chevy workers looking for jobs at 711.
Favorite Features
Large roomy cab
Suggested Improvements
Better quality & fix vaccum pump noise. Those slanted headlights are ugly.
Its a winner

After shopping around and doing my homework I'm glad I got the Silverado. With the 4.3L and 5 speed I'm getting 20+ mpg and have plenty of power for light hauling. The ride is better than the others and it makes the Tundra look punny when you compare the box capacity. The design and engineering of this truck are outstanding.
Favorite Features
Great ride and handling, comfortable well designed interior, great gas mileage
Suggested Improvements
Some means of retracting the beverage holder when not in use, driver side window needs better control so it doesn't go all the way down.
2-3 upshift clunk junk

i bought this vehicle brand new and around 2,000 miles it started to have a loud clunk noise in the transmission when it shifted from 2nd to 3rd gear. it has been progresively getting worse and Chevrolet will not do anything about it. They realize there is a problem with these transmissions. ....when it shifts it is so loud you think the universal joints are going to pop out. They have responded telling me that "it is a mometary reversal of the transmission output Chevy says "even if we replace the transmission we can't guarantee that the next one won't have the same problem. Want a Silverado headache????????
Favorite Features
my favorite feature i guess is the comfort of the ride in general. it rides like a big car and takes the bumps very well.
Suggested Improvements
Fire the engineers that decided to allow the transmission to momentarily reverse itself.

Awesome Truck, I traded in a Toyota Tundra because I needed something a little larger. I hesitated to buy a GM ,but after the test drive I thought I would take a chance. WOW!!!! If this is a sign of how far Detroit has come I will never buy foreign again!!! The Power, The Room, The Ride, The build quality and lack of rattles is awesome. Highly Recommend!!!!!! I would recommend the 5.3 though.
Favorite Features
The Power, The Traction from the Z71 package.
Suggested Improvements
A Spray in Bed liner and slightly more powerful standard AM/FM/CD Radio.

I repair many vehicles in my area. I have always been a GM owner, But GM is getting to much electronic junk on their vehicles. The GM dealers are having trouble keeping them running. Delphi company is killing GM. Vehicles need to be rated by serviceability.Check the hours it takes to replace a/c evaporator core in new trucks. I tell my customers to check labor time on most frequent replaced parts. Thank you

Suggested Improvements
Abort weak electonics companies, have engineers think about mechanic hands. make parts easier to replace.
