Review

Stylish and powerful truck that has a solid feel going down the road. All of the changes for 2003 only made a good truck better. Good enough to finally make me switch from Ford to Chevy. I keep hearing of the cheap feel of the interior but sitting in the Ford I see just as much p-lastic and a lot less style.

Favorite Features

Motor options and four wheel disk brakes

Suggested Improvements

The way the front doors close on to the rear doors do not feel as solid as I would like.

Review

Since 1983I have purchased imports primarily and been VERY happy w/them. Then in 93" made the huge mistake of buying a Ford, or should I say S**T. Purchased my 03" Chevy last fall; overall EXTREMELY pleased. I live very close to my work, and we use the wife's auto mostly so I don't have many mileson it, but overall truck is great. Only problems have been the radio; total crap! and one-time prob with guages going dead.

Favorite Features

4.8L V8 eng w/3.73 rear gives great power. Seats are TOO confortable, 4WD w/locking rear end cranks in the mud and snow.

Suggested Improvements

For $32K you should get a quality sound system! After-market stereos have always been cheaper AND better. Make the front end of the truck as high and level with/as the rear AT THE FACTORY!!!

First I must say if you are looking for a quiet truck, this is it. I have bought five brand new trucks and this is by far the most refined.

The V6 doesn't have quite enough juice so I would reccommend to at least get the small V8.

All was well with the truck except for the windows, the driver seat, the speakers, the console, andpaint peeling off the ashtray. I didn't have any other problems with it until I decided to do the smart care engine and transmission flush. Since then the truck leaks engine and transmission oil at about a quart a day...,DON'T GET IT...,I AM STILL HAVING TO BRING MY TRUCK BACK TO TRY TO GET IT RESOLVED...,IT'S BEEN VERY FUSTRATING AND TIME CONSUMING...,THIS IS DEFINITELY THE LAST TIME I BUY AMERICAN THANKS TO THE RUDENESS AND POOR ATTITUDE OF TWO DEALER-SHIPS AND THEIR POOR RELATION ETHICS

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

Dealers need to treat vehicle better when doing service to them and not be so rude.

Review

I opted for the 4.8L V8 - wanted the 5.3 but cost $1400 more. Very happy with the smoothness and delivery of the 275 HP from this motor - has more than enough oomph! for what I use it for (hauling people/stuff to and from games/home depot, occasional towing) and I'm getting better gas mileage than my 3.0L V6 '95 4Runner got. Excellent comfort/room for six. All smiles, no complaints yet.

Favorite Features

Strong smooth engine/powertrain, quiet and roomy interior (front and back)

Suggested Improvements

None yet. I did have one minor problem with the CD/radio...it stopped receiving and getting sound to spkrs. Turns out there's a tech bulletin out for that...they updated program in radio - 2 minute fix - works great.

Review

I have alway been a Ford person, but my purchase this last week of a Silverado LS/4.8 V8 was more because of the finance manager from the Ford dealership than my love for the Chevrolet truck. BUT...this is a nice overall truck. I like the standard features and the V8 is crisp. Overall quality seems respectable - and it is very roomy inside, which helps with 2 kids in car seats.

Favorite Features

Roomy interior, nice power, quiet interior - dual climate control.

Suggested Improvements

Don't like the new front end - but it is mainly to do with the front fenders and not the grill.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab 4WD LB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Review

I've only had the Silverado three weeks, but so far, it's been a great truck. I did alot of research into buying this truck, and feel the Chevrolet is the best balance of power, comfort, safety, and dependability. The gas milage is about 17mpg, which isn't too bad for a V8 extended cab pickup.

Favorite Features

Creature comforts, and the room behind the front seats.

Suggested Improvements

Better tweeters for the sound system, a better written owners manual(we know not to drink and drive), better storage for CDs, and lumbar adjustments for the seat.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab LT 4WD SB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Review

Engineers still working on this one. At about 350 miles service 4wd light comes on although truck had never been placed in 4WD. Two trip to service dept service tech gives us GM document #1243149 dated 2/14/03, that says there is no permanent fix for this problem at this time, however if you don't use the 4WD you can just unhook it. Bought truck about one month after document. Assure me it will be fixed just don't know when. Very disappointed with lack of help from dealership and Chevrolet.

Favorite Features

Heated seats, steering wheel controls, roomy, power

Suggested Improvements

Better engineering before they sell it to the consumer. GM needs to make information available to its dealerships and its salesman so they can inform the hardworking blue collar buyer about KNOWN DEFECTS with its product.
