You do have the heavy duty 1500. Also, the reason for the back to be higher is gas milage and no you should not remove the blocks as this could change your drive shaft angle which could cause vibration under hard acceleration. And as far as torking down your torsion bars, thi will not stiffen the ride much at all but if you go to high, the upper control arms will ... Read More
The right side actuating rod on my 2001 Sierra tailgate handle came loose and I had to remove the bezel and stick my finger in there to pull the rod manually. The plastic rod retainer is broken and I have not yet found a source for replacement parts. Duct tape worked for a few months. If anyone knows where to buy the rod ends, please inform us.

I have never personally heard of anything like what you described happen. I frequent several GM boards none of which reports anything like above. If you find your dealership hard to work with on warranty issues, give GM customer service a call and they usually can refer you to another Chevy dealership in your area. With what you describe, I don't think that the dealship can question or deny warranty coverage ... Read More

OMG! I too have a 2006 Chevy 1500 w/36k miles. Recently we noticed a grinding type noise in the left front. We pulled the tire and could see gouges in the rotor. We took it to a brake shop thinking the pads just needed to be replaced and the rotors grinded down. The brake shop told us to take it back to the dealer that the left front rotor needed to ... Just bought a 5.3 LB WT. Had air, Z85 suspension and dealer installed bed liner. Didn't want the bed liner, but nobody else around had a 5.3 LB WT. MSRP $20,890, $21,118 with bedliner. Well after the main $1500R, Memorial Day $1000R, Pre 1/22 R $1500, Private Conquest $1500R, GM Card $1500R, GM Card Bonus $1000R, I used a total of $8000 in rebates. Like I said before......you obviously have a lemon, if you even have a Denali. As for customer service, I'm sure you get the worst of it when you walk into a dealership with the attitude you carry. No one at that dealership wants to hear you talk sh*t about GM the way you do. I own a 1990 Chevrolet Silverado, a 2000 Chevrolet Express Regency Conversion Van, a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu ... Read More
I have a 2006 Silverado Crew Cab 1/2 ton 2WD. It has the stock suspension, shocks and tires on it. It is very bouncy from the day I bought it new. You can take the blocks out with no ill effects, other than sitting a little lower if you really load it up. I took the same blocks out of my 02 Z71 4X4 ext cab with no ill effects. Just need the std 2wd u-bolts (2 in. shorter). Levels the truck out and makes the bed more accessible. I admit raised trucks look nice, but the little lower height makes it ... Read More
I bought a brand new 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 ext cab 4x4 in May 2006. I truly love my new truck, but I just got a chance to look over a new 2007 Silverado and I know that I should have waited! Believe what he told you. Not sure on those rear blocks but I will bet someone will jump in with that information. The bolt you are looking at pushes up on the key between the rails of the cross member. The more you crank down on them the more front end lift you get. Some shops will crank them all the way down for you and only charge for the alignment. The truck will then be ... Read More

This truck was new when purchased on 09/02/2006, had 42 miles on it. Therefore, I don't believe any alternations have been done on it since GMC made it. I looked under the truck, and although I am not sure I understand where to look for the large thick metal piece you mentioned at the cross member at the rear of the torsion bars (don't see one), there doesn't appear to be ... Was it used when you purchased it? It sounds like someone has placed torsion bar keys in the front end. It also sounds like they cranked them down all the way leaving little room for suspension. The stock keys have a nice ride but torsion bar keys will have a stiffer ride and a very rough ride when you crank them down. I think the truck should be 2 inches lower ... Read More

My recently purchased Chev. Silverado 1500 ext cab two WD pickup rides rough. Unless the highway is very smooth you feel the bumps and roughness of the road more that I was expecting. The truck has the appearance of a four WD but is not. It sets higher above the frame than other Silverados I have noticed; even higher than some Z71's. It has torsion bars front suspension. I'll make an argument for 2 wheel drive. 4 wheel drive without a locking or limited slip rear differential is really just a 2 wheel drive truck when it comes down to traction on slick surfaces. Ulimately, you'd want 4 wheel drive with a locking rear dif, which in the worst conditions gives you 3 wheels with traction. However 4WD is more expensive and you get worse gas mileage even on ...
