I have a 2003 chevy silverado 1500 4x4. Last week my front end started to vibrate/hum at around 60 to 70 mph. I thought that the 4 x 4 axle actuator was engaging the front axles causing the vibration. I pulled it and it wasn't engaged. I noticed gear oil had came out of the vent hose on front differential. Feels like the vibration is effecting power as well, like its ... Read More
My husband and i are looking to buy a new 2011 crew cab 1500. He currently has a 2005 Chevy Silverado with 55k miles on it. We still owe $15k on it. Has anyone bought a 2011 crew cab recently? if so would you mind sharing your deal? what are your monthly payments? etc?
I have a 2005 Silverado 1500 extended cab 2wd. It has the 5.3 engine with a 3.73 rear end. It came stock with 245/70/17 tires. An optional tire was 265/70/17. I am thinking about getting a set of tires and wheels from a friend who replaced theirs with some fancier wheels. The size is 265/65/18. They are from a late model Chevy Tahoe. They bolt on fine and do not scrub ... Read More
I have a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (RWD Ext Cab/5.3 V8) and started to notice a popping noise in the vicinity of the center floorboard hump. The rate of the pop doesn't increase or decrease with the engine RPMs and it doesn't increase or decrease when the truck is in gear, parked, or being driven. I opened the hood to see if the noise could be heard from the engine compartment ... Read More

i have a 2005 chevrolet silverado 1500. there is a vibration at 45 mph and 55 mph. it feels like your running over the rumble strips on the highway. has anyone else had this problem or may know how to fix the problem
I would check the main ground to see if has any corrosion or is loose. I had 44 DTC's that showed which is nearly all my modules showing bad, but they were all phantom, including the service 4wd and service brakes, etc. The ground wire was cleaned of the corrosion and tightened. I don't know how it got loose, I suspect that it was due to the lift kit and then ... Read More
I just got my truck out of the shop at Chevy and after 2 days of looking at it including the switch and transfer case motor, they found that the main ground for my truck had a bad connection and was loose. They cleaned the corrosion around the ground and tightened it and all my problems were solved. I was almost to the point of getting a new transfer case motor ... Read More
I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew-cab,2wd.I have a noise coming from under the hood somewhere that sounds kinda like a whining car horn. When you push down on the gas pedal, that's when you hear it.After a few seconds it will go away.I took it in to the dealer and of course they could not find any problem. This is something I listen to everyday, and they could not find or hear ... I'll make an argument for 2 wheel drive. 4 wheel drive without a locking or limited slip rear differential is really just a 2 wheel drive truck when it comes down to traction on slick surfaces. Ulimately, you'd want 4 wheel drive with a locking rear dif, which in the worst conditions gives you 3 wheels with traction. However 4WD is more expensive and you get worse gas mileage even on ... See reply #509. You can do it with the torsion bars. However, if you drive a 2wd it won't work as the suspension setup is a little different. Works for 4wd only.
There is a bolt 18mm at the rear of your torsion bar which is the long bar under your front doors and you can turn that bolt clock wise to lift your truck 2 inches FREE! it rides the exact same and everything. and if that is not enough you can buy new torsion keys which can lift up to 4 inches to level at installed at any 4x4 shop but ... Bring up the front so its level with the back. What products are good and where can I have this done?
You want to bring the front up? or the back down? Knowing that will greatly increase the odds of a correct reply.
I am looking into getting a leveling kit installed in my 2005 Chevy Silverado and wanted to ask if anyone had any suggestions, recommendations, or anything else that would be useful.
I've got a 2005 silverado 1500 5.3L crew cab LS. Just wanted to let anyone know who is having a popping noise of some sort inside the cab that sounds like it's coming from the AC vent area under the dash but behind the ash tray or glove box. That general area, hard to say exactly. The noise is really annoying and sounds like something is loose withe the vent or ... Read More

My 2005 Silverado 1500 has a 4.3 engine with a 4 speed automatic transmission. With cruise engaged and climbing hills the transmission downshifts into 3rd for about a second and a half then goes to second . At this time the engine rpm goes from 1800 to 4500 rpm. Not a good situation on wet surface. Chevy dealer tells me that chevy has had this problem since 2001 and refuses to ... Read More
I am about to buy a 2005 Silverado 1500 extended cab to replace my GMC Sierra. The Chevy dealers are offering $4000 in rebates through next week (expires May 31, 2005). I have heard unverified rumors that the new incentives begining in June '05 will be better, and there may even be a return of last year's Customer Loyalty credits for current GM owners. Does anybody have any real idea if ... Read More
