2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 random misfiring

MAF, IAC, and TPS come to mind starting with the cheapest which is the IAC. That clicking sound could be a failing injector. Hard to tell without hearing it.

Yes sir, changed out the wires as well with all new. Almost 500 miles on the new ones. Also, had my coil packs checked by two different mechanics and they are good to go.

How many miles? Since you changed out the plugs may as well change the wires.

Hello, I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 2wd with the 4.8L. Recently the truck has been giving me a lot of problems. Right now it has a random misfire going on and it sounds like a electrical short in the spark plugs wire. Sometimes #1, or #6, or #7 but never in series and never all together. When it occurs you can hear a clicking noise coming from around the ... Read More

Theres quite a few TSB on the 1500 pickup, several include running conditions.. check them out, and see if your wrench can identify the issue. We just traded a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 HD with the 6.0L and 4:10 rear gears. Back in March 10 I heard the exhaust leak and thought it was the exhaust gaskets, however it was the manifold bolts. Only 2 bolt on each side were holding the manifold on. I got lucky and the mechanic was able to get them out without pulling the heads. Cost $1200.00

Hey Guys, I have an interesting problem, My truck will not start when I try to start it in the morning. I have to crank the motor for a good minute or two and consistently play with the throttle for it to start. I scrounged for the money for a proper diagnostic and it turns out both upstream o2 sensors need to be replaced and the max airflow sensor as well. The damage is going to be 1000 dollars. Thanks for the reply

  • Re: 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 possible oxygen sensor [Cory1975]

Take it to an auto parts store and have them download the trouble code. It should tell you which sensor is bad. To change the problematic sensor requires a special socket which can be bought at that parts store along with an aftermarket O2 sensor. That's about as inexpensive as it's going to get.
