i purchased this 4.8 v8 silverado with 59000 miles now it has 216000 miles and the only thing i have ever purchased for it has been the alternator and normal maintenance. this truck went through burnouts, racing on highway, offroading, and through snow without a single problem.. the best thing is that the motor and transmission still works perfect sounds even better then my fathers 2008 silverado. chevy rocks

i have had this truck for around 1.5 years put on about 25,000 miles and it just is cheaply made the wobble in the front end large turning radius for a short truck the cd player was crap the latch broke on the tailgate, center console, have had the parking brake fixed by gm 6 times ive never driven with it on ac is weak check engine light comes on randomly fuel pumps @ 149xxx, speakers are blown and falling out of their holes, burns oil but dosent leak it, super light in the back end my boat drug it down a dry launch ramp with parking brake on boat (6400) lbs and very narrow interior im about 6'1" and 265 and the seats are narrow and uncomfortable any long drives require frequent rest stops.

Owned since new, has 175,000km. Not a single problem ever, only money spent has been on regular maintenance. Has the 4.8 V8 which as a ton of power for this small truck and gets about 12l/100km.

I bought my 2001 in 2006 because I really wanted a stepside.
I found this Z71 4X4 and pulled the trigger.
It had 89,000 on the odometer.
Now it has 140,000.
I've driven it hard and it keeps coming back for more.
One of the first things I added to it was a Flowmaster muffler with chrome tips.
I get a thrill every time I fire it up.

I bought this truck in 2006 with 59,000 miles on it and now it has 108,000 and it runs like it did when I bought it. I now have flowmaster exhaust on it and that gave me noticeably better gas mileage. The best mileage I have gotten is 22 doing 70. I get about 13 to 15 in town. Does great on the highway and handles like car. It has plenty of power! It has always started in the cold, even 20 below zero in Montana where I live. Does well in every road condition you drive on. Very smooth suspension as well.

Camshaft and lifter failure at 71K! Pitted cam lobe evident once exposed along with a worn valve lifter. Was diligently maintained including oil changes, routine servicing, etc. Independent repair shop says defective parts were installed at manufacture. Took 70K miles to manifest itself hence the time bomb. GM says off warranty so no help or assistance possible with $4500 repair costs. Also a front shimmy since it was new has been troublesome and apparently is not fixable per Chevy, Les Schwab Tires, and independent repair shop. CD player failed at 45K miles, never bothered to repair. Third new Chevy truck I have owned and it's definitely the last.

First off, it is a 2001 silverado 1500 LT extended cab 4 door Z71 with Onstar. We bought this truck used at 176K miles and have since put it 10,000 miles on it. It is real comfortable and fun to drive and it has plenty of power. I put some 33 inch maxxis bigohrn tires on it and it went to 10-12 mpg which really sucks down the gas. However, the 4wd system is great for offroading. Only had some minor stuff to replace like the universal and the brakes. The truck can be easily modded to make it look and perform better, which is a plus. I plan on keeping this truck for as long as possible, and i am confident that it will keep performing

Ive always driven chevy trucks, they always been tanks< I make work and play hard. The 2001 has given me more issues than older models. The first was the fuel pump in the tank, very expensive to fix thru the dealer, 2nd bad knock on cold start up,Power window motor, replaced whole brake system(hard time finding the correct fuel line, didn't match dealer PN,fuel injectors, front end work and just put in a new transmission, I've had a bad vibration which thru process of elimination I think is the driveshaft, by the time Im done I will have a new truck, but I work it hard but not trashing it, for what they cost I expect it to do the work like the older models,I am disappointed in chevy
